I have been at this particular venue to the museum several times I love the fact that you parking is free makes it so much easier to attend for those of us that are in the budget. I really love this venue. It’s amazing and thank you for that experience, it was more intimate so I enjoyed it a lot more than any other experience experience in other venues thank you so so much continue to make this more possible by making more concerts more you know musicians may piano don’t know just amazing. Thank you so much.
Love it so much! Took my boyfriend who doesn’t even like instrumental music like this and he ended up enjoying the whole thing and even leaving suggestions of songs he would like to hear next. It was so pretty with plenty of candles that were even available for purchase and drinks to enjoy.
Lovely venue. Was in the back row but was still a good view. Ushers were friendly and helpful. The quartet was amazing!
I had a great time looking around here! I went to visit this place with my sister and one of my best friends. We all had fun visiting the Noah's Ark. They did have a playground at the end of the place there. We also visited the other places here too. We had lunch here too, and the food was pretty good too. I really enjoyed this time together here! I would wanna come back here some time.
The Maurice Sendak Retrospective is at the Skirball until Sept 1, 2024. Absolutely fabulous! The scope of his work - books, film, comic strips, plays. He did it all and you’ll see it at this wonderful show. Take your little kids, take your grown kids. Where the Wild Things Are holds a special place in every kids heart!
The Skirball Cultural Center is truly a gem. Our visit was outstanding from start to finish. The exhibitions were thoughtfully curated and incredibly engaging, offering something for everyone. The staff was knowledgeable and welcoming, enhancing our overall experience. The architecture and gardens were beautiful, providing a serene backdrop to the enriching cultural displays. The hands-on exhibits were a hit, especially for kids. We also enjoyed a lovely meal at their on-site cafe. It's a fantastic destination for anyone looking to explore art, history, and culture. We can't recommend it enough!
Great little museum! Lots of cool stuff and lots to see. It was really a great place to stop in. Free admission and a cute lite gift shop with stuff of a lot of culture.
I can’t say enough good things about this place. I’m so glad I stopped by, in the mean time, I’m disappointed that I only to see these exhibitions the last day of trip.

It is very emotional and powerful. It gives you a well all around introduction of the Mexican-American history, that explains lots of my questions during my visit.

I guess because this is a newer museum, it talks about indigenous people’s history before Spanish settler came and destroyed the local society. I appreciate this presentation. Didn’t really see other places around the area talk about this. It’s definitely important for people to know.

Powers to everyone fight for social justice!
Beautiful museum.
Has a few small rotating exhibits (photos from 2 of them), usually 1 large rotating main exhibit (photos from the Maurice Sendak one), and 3 permanent exhibits: Jews in America, Noah's Ark (an interactive life size exhibit to enjoy with kids), and an archeological dig (unfortunately only for little kids, very fun to do).
It's a great place to find a class, workshop, or exhibition that share the narratives of so many Latino@s in LA. They provide community space and offer free or low-cost programs for LA residents to share and preserve our roots through arte and stories. This has also been the home of LatinaFest for 6 years and is a blast to attend in the right weather. The parking is a bummer but if you can find all-day parking there is so much to enjoy and discover. It's in the heart of LA across from Placita Olvera, near Chinatown, near Grand Station, and even close to Los Feliz Flea at Vintageland.
Whitney would have loved it! A great tribute to one of the best! Beautifully orchestrated and the fever staff are the best!

I am quite happy with the courses at UNAM; I’m starting my third consecutive session. Classes are small and instructors are helpful.
Amazing historical place…. So peaceful and tranquil… great history here… the quiet was mind blowing and peacocks so beautiful..
Must come check it out if you love cemeteries…. Grateful I was able to check it out..

Excellent Spanish course. My Teacher (Miriam Balderas) explained everything in detail and with multiple examples. Additionally, she was very patient with me and my classmates. I will take other classes with UNAM Los Angeles.

I have wanted to take my Spanish communication skills to a higher level. While visiting Mexico City recently, I became aware of the reputation of UNAM. I was excited to find that UNAM has a branch in my home city of Los Angeles. I signed up for an online course in B2 level Spanish.
Although the course is organized by the Los Angeles branch of UNAM, my teacher lives in Mexico City. So it really felt as though I was learning Spanish in CDMX. Yazmin (my teacher) never gave us any crutches, by reverting to English. All her explanations were in Spanish, which was fabulous. If I didn't understand something she would try to explain it in Spanish. If I STILL didn't understand it, she would try another way of explaining the concept in Spanish. She would keep doing this until I (or my classmates) understood. I really liked the immersion.
I will definitely consider taking another course from UNAM LA.

Read the message from one of the photos I post..
If only to visit this individual?..
After you read the message...
You'd know why I would still go by at least once a month to say thank you for her pure 💛
Find her n say hi...
Don't be shocked
🙄 if she answers!!
Lol...

Look forward to taking you on a fascinating walking tour in the near future...

To the owners...

In revitalizing the park for business reasons n at the same time, having a place of remembering your loved ones ( famous or not ) in dignity.
Great Job 👍🫡

This is an ordinary cemetery with the exception of about a hundred Hollywood luminaries who decided to take their final curtain call at this very place by exiting stage left and then jumping into a six foot deep hole in the ground. Don’t expect these stiffs to be neatly buried in one section; they are not. Instead, they are scattered about the lot. So you will need to track them down, and I mean six feet down. Parking is simple, just pull along side the curb of the cemetery roads and get out. Walking in the cemetery’s uneven grass, which easily compresses under your weight, may be a challenge to individuals with mobility issues who, if not careful, might just find themselves bunkmates with local ghost resident Mickey Rooney. I did not do so, but a walking tour would have made this a more enjoyable and fruitful experience.
Fantastic cultural history museum. Never knew it was here and it had a wealth of history here. I'm glad I brought my son here to show him. I knew these events happened but the level of detail and personal stories helped reinforce it all. Boxing history. The way of life. Great.
A unique and historic cemetery. Many showbiz people are buried here, from some of the biggest stars of all time to others from the Golden Age whose names are rarely heard anymore. Also many non-celebrities. The grounds are peaceful. If you like cemeteries, this is worth a visit. Enter from Santa Monica Boulevard.

UNAM LA is exactly what I wanted to get a solid support to my Spanish-learning journey. Learning a new language is always a very immersive experience and can’t be achieved without some guidance and support. Thanks to Professor Fernando Perez and Professor Queralt Eréndira for their kindness and patience while teaching. I would highly recommend this place IF you’re motivated and dedicated to learn Spanish, and willing to spend time on your own to practice and work, because just attending the class without the above mentioned things won’t suffice.
Beautiful landscape, lots of original tombs, strong history. Excellent maintenance. Lots of animals that also make the place lively (squirrels, ducks, cats, peacocks, etc.). A nice break in the center of the city.
We went to watch Pretty Woman. Coca Cola sponsored the food for the night, free pizza, free cokes, and free cheese cake. What else can you ask for? The place gets packed fast so arrive early. It was a great night, packed with fun and entertainment. A classic movie too!
Not a lot of parking but an excellent cultural center with really talented people putting on performances for the community. Definitely recommend going to any of their events!
Beautiful, peaceful, burial grounds for many celebrities. Came for the noche de los muertos event and it was super organized. Great food and finally got to see Bomba Estero live!!

The Dia de los Muertos Event was great ... excellent musicians , talented Folklorico Dancers , beautiful displays and community participation 💀
Me and my girlfriend went to the Velorio event las Saturday it was awesome loved it going again next year
We came here because I believe one of The Walking Dead seasons finales Talking Dead after shows was filmed here. We were in California for the Halloween 45 Years of Terror Convention and came here on our last day of the trip. Very cool place. Free to enter and you can park in the cemetery. They have a public bathroom and maybe even some merch and food. Unsure about those last two. If you're interested in cemeteries, this place is worth checking out.
It was an outside event called KCRW Summer Nights with cultura y artes ....bars, food trucks and a band playing Jungle Fire .

Great open air location. Had a blast at La Bulla.
Beautiful location. Outdoor patio was perfect for the great concert 30 years of Chicano Rock music of Queztal.
I'm not a huge fan of the term Latinx. But the museum is very interesting and I'm glad there are places like this that support Mexican heritage in La. Plus it's free. Won't be here for more than an hour. The staff is friendly. Cute gift shop. They do events on weekends occasionally and have nice exhibition
Friendly staff m, clear instructions!

Claudia was great. I kind of lost interest in the last 2 weeks because I wasn't really understanding the grammar terms. I think I just have a block when it comes to using academic terminology. And I have a hard time following through with classes. I will try to participate in the sessions on reading, viewing, and conversation if I remember to register ahead of time for them. All of the professors are very knowledgeable and very good teachers.
These bad reviews scared me to go there but they were so friendly and helpful. Especially the lady who helped me was extremely professional and nice. I really appreciate her! I recommend you to go there in the early morning.
This museum is incredible. Brilliant and bright art work, comprehensive history exhibit, and consciousness raising exhibit about the dangers migrants face with crossing the border because of American policies.

I wish there was more information about the Indigenous Peoples of LA but this is an extremely moving and engaging museum. The surrounding area is beautiful as well with lots to do and places to eat.
Hi, to everyone that about to go throught vissa or passport process with this embassy, as mention in other review, there is an extremely and I mean extremely rude and irritated women who you might come in contact with. My experience was so bad as she was just straight up yelling at me through the phone just because i dont understand some part of the process and decided to ask her. If its just one person or two person complaint then it might be the citizen problem but experience this first hand and with many other review complaining about this lady, I think the embassy should do something about it. This agent is here to help people and not the other way around, with a gov agency like this I expect at least reasonable attitude and professionalism from the agent as it is a representation of japan goverment.

Wonderful venue. Nicely kept grounds. Good place for coming to events and the surrounding park is soothing, enlivening. Water foul around along with turtles, and a fountain in the lake.
There is absolutely no better place in downtown Los Angeles to hold an event especially non-profit events like Latina Fest. I always have a great time. Thank you Belle Hernandez the organizer
Great place to attend events and see interesting things such as live theatre in the Margot Albert!
I was also creeped on by the security guard here. He made inappropriate comments to me and my mother.

It seems that the consulate lied about taking action because it happened after the other review. Absolutely shameful. I should not have to get harassed just to fill out paperwork.

Also, the people working here a bunch of bullies. The yell personal information over the loudspeaker so the entire room can hear. They're the type that amusement part ticket booths are equipped with so you can hear exactly what every person is applying for and hear them get berated very loudly.

Really mean. One lady was insulting an elderly lady in Japanese about why her kid couldn't speak Japanese.

Backwards Showa attitude. You don't even hear things like that in Japanese city halls anymore.

Unfortunately this institution gave me one of the worst experiences I have ever had taking a proctored exam. They not only avoided providing instructions on what setting was required for the online exam (until I was already on a video call about to start the exam), but also had me wait a full 3+ weeks (aka the maximum amount of time they say you will receive your results by) before letting me know AFTER I contacted them to follow up that they NULLED MY EXAM. I did not even receive an explanation as to why it was nulled- they simply forwarded an email to me to let me know something was wrong and that I would not be refunded ANY of my $200.

As someone applying to graduate school, and studying for years for this exam, I was incredibly dissatisfied by the lack of organization, communication, and scamming conducted by UNAM Los Angeles. I would NOT recommend this institution to anyone looking for a proctored exam or any kind of timely, respectful communication.
Free! Lots of information about the latinos of LA. Beautiful artworks and documentation of immigrants across the borders.
The staff here at the Japanese Consulate were very friendly, very knowledgeable and very helpful. My first visit, they assisted me in filling out the passport application due to fact, it was very complicated. And the the Japanese year is totally different from USA year. I received the Japanese passport within two weeks without any problems. Once again thank you for your support and hard work.

This is a great place to hold any event you want to hold. Here in the middle of the city is a park with a plaza that makes it possible to enjoy your event
Finding people to work must be pretty difficult these days.

One of the security guards was hitting on people. One lady was first in line and then he walked up to her, looked at her ticket and told her she had the wrong ticket. He threw her ticket away and picked up another ticket from the exact spot she had already pulled a ticket from.

She ended up losing her place in line and other people now went ahead of her. In the meantime he started asking her if she was married, how old she was, etc. She said she was married and he said he was too with 3(?) grown kids. He stayed by her side the entire time she was there and never paid attention to anyone else.

It was very obvious that he was hitting on her and that he took away her ticket so she would have to stay longer while he tried to talk to her. Pretty sleazy people being hired by the embassy staff here - to not do their job. The Japanese staff working the actual counters seemed to all be friendly.
entrance is around 2cal plaza 350 city national bank (near fourth street which does happen to be underground) for those not around here! there's a small waiting area outside in the shade after checking in early.
The whole process for renewing the passport was smooth sailing. And if I can point out one issue. I would say (the parking as "@TM stated"). We had an appointment at 9:30AM and we also came from San Diego. Arrived around 9:05AM, and let me tell you @TM wasn't lying about the parking price. We were there for only 40+min and it was pricy on that structure. The fact that you have to come back twice is a pain, when you're trying to go in and out. If I can suggest one thing to this building I would say, a stamp free of charge(parking validation) for coming in what you came for.... that including those nice resturants around there.
However,
If you get there early in the morning you have to come back at 3PM
and it only works for those who ain't local to the county(LA). Meaning you can get your passport done in one day.
and let me tell you this, we went back to receive our passport, got there around 2:45PM. I was not going to park down at that structure twice!!
so I decided to park across the building where the parking meter's are at.
I was genuinely aware about the sign reading parking 8am-3pm. I paid the fee with little amount of time we had I was skyptically running up and down just to keep a watch for our car. And on my 2nd time running down GUESS WHAT!!! TWO CARS BEHIND ME WERE TOWED!!
THEREFORE,
PLEASE BECAREFUL WITH THOSE PARKING ENFORCERS!
THEY DONT GIVE A RATS A**
THAT BUILDING NEEDS PARKING VALIDATION
I got lucky i was able to move my car on time
but, a second guy came and just started handing out tickets like no other. PLEASE BE AWARE MY FELLOW JAPANESE AMERICANS
and for the sake of whoever goes to that plaza.

Fernando is the best teacher I have ever had the pleasure of working with. He works hard to make students feel comfortable and open to communicating in Spanish. UNAM is a great value and fun environment to learn Spanish. A textbook is also included in the course. Highly recommend.
A wonderful museum with cultural based exhibits. The front desk was welcoming and admission was free. The area around the museum is filled with culture and history. The exhibits themselves were also pretty interesting. I was only able to visit “LA Starts Here” and “Linda Vallejo” which we’re both on the first floor. There are more exhibits on the second floor, but didn’t have time to visit them. Both exhibits talk about the culture before Americans colonized California and also the discrimination and violent acts that they suffered against. The “Linda Vallejo” exhibit also had beautiful art works and statistics about the Latino population. Overall, the exhibits were interesting and was definitely worth the visit.

I took a semester of classes two years ago at UNAM Los Angeles and totally enjoyed the experience. The class was small, it was very intimate and engaging and with only a couple of of us it was very interactive. I learned a lot and it provided the foundation for further on-line learning since. I was keen to continue but my work travel schedule has gotten a bit hectic since. I look forward to re-enrolling again in the future. The tutors Aida and Fernando were amazing, they had a lot of patience, and it was a pleasure and very rewarding to be in their class.
I went to Japan Embassy for renewal of the passport. The Google maps leads me to the building but the actual entrance (if you go there by car like me) is behind of the building. So if you are driving your car, go to Olive street and will find a parking lot. Parking fee is not cheap in Downtown LA!!
Go there if you are from San Diego like me by 11:30am Sharp, and the passport is ready by the same day by 3pm. Ask the staff members for the details. You can't pay the amount of the money for passport by credit card or debit card. They only accept cash which is not resonable.
If you haven't been to this jewel of Mexican culture and art, you're missing a two story, professionally done space with changing exhibits. Historical and contemporary depictions of Mexican life in Los Angeles; depicted using brilliant photography, video and recreated street life spaces. It's free and open every day except Tuesday.
