Karai is Awesome! We ordered the gyoza for our appetizer. For dinner we enjoyed the tonkotsu and soyu ramen and everything was delicious. For desert the kids had the melon icecream bars. The service was great. We will definitely be back!

If you want true traditional Tonkotsu Ramen, then this is the place to go. If you like spice, then there are 4 levels (0 no spice to 3 unbelievably spicy) to get. Level 1 is pretty spicy, so I can only imagine the other 2 levels. The Ube was amazing as well that I had 2. I can't wait to go back.

The food was very good. Enjoyable. Very filling. I was please with how spicy the Karai ramen was. I would definitely go back to tye other dishes.

Karai is so good, I've been coming here for years. It's always fun to take a newb here who has never dined at Karai before, & turn them into regulars as well.
The broth has such a rich flavor no matter which ramen you decide to order, they are all scrumptious.
I really like to check out the specials before ordering my go to ramen selections. Every special I've ordered ends up being so tasty. (You can find their specials on their website, and/or their instagram page. I always check both)

End of last week I was here, and ordered their Tonkotsu Shoyu ramen. I added a little more protein to it from one of their suggested toppings (Japanese sausage). It was amazing! If you ever want to make your ramen a little spicy, you can always ask for a side of their chili oil and add in as much or as little as you'd like.
The staff is always friendly, the food comes out pretty quick, and you always leave as one happy, satisfied customer.
Karai also has a decent amount of drink selections too ~ beer, sake, various hot teas. Recently I saw they have started to add more desserts. While visiting last week, I also tried their ube cheesecake. Super light and fluffy, fresh, not too sweet. It was a really good light dessert to add to an entree. I highly recommend trying one of their featured desserts.

Food was fantastic! The place is a little small and the tables fill up fast but we were seated quickly. I had the Shoyu ramen and it was very good! I will definitely be back :)

The food was super good especially the ramen and Katsu tenders I found very good. Loved the broth 😋 will come back one day.

Ramen is a great go to hard day comfort food! 🍜 I was not disappointed. In a strip shopping center on Beach Blvd and San Pablo you are hidden deliciousness!

Wonderful atmosphere! I felt very welcomed as soon as I walked in. The owners own the curry & sando next door and brought me my loaf of bread. The food was so good that I didn't even get a picture! I scarfed it down and it was delicious. I will definitely be back and hopefully remember to take pictures this time.

I asked for super spicy Chicken Katsu Curry. Chicken was juicy! Curry was a little too sweet for my liking but very flavorful. Wish they had some naan! Will return for the Ramen!

I have eaten here several times and have always had good service and food. The layout of the restaurant can feel a bit cramped when it’s busy but that’s the only real downside. If there is a wait time they will gladly take your phone number and call you when seating is available so you don’t have to just sit around. The food feels very homey/dinerish. I usually end up going with a curry but have tried the yakisoba, the lunch/dinner boxes and the omurice all of which are good. If you like fried potatoes be sure to try the croquettes!

Service was great, I ordered the tonkatsu Ramen with a side of chicken katsu and it was delicious! Will definitely eat here again.

This is me and my boyfriends’ favorite place to eat at. We’re here once, sometimes twice a week! Everything is so flavorful! All of the staff is super sweet and helpful.

I was surprised as had such good food here before. The chicken yakisoba was a total disappointment. Well prepared cook wise, very poorly seasoned. The pieces of chicken had zero sauce/flavor and tasted more like boiled in plain water. I will go back and give them another chance as their fried rice is the bomb.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this place!!! My only complaint is they’re always busy during dinner every weekend, so I recommend visiting during weekday dinner; especially if you want to get seated quick. I am still giving 5 stars obviously for the service, food, and location itself. Once you are able to taste their ramen, sushi, curry, and etc, you will know why this place is always busy. I think this is the only place that they serve Takoyaki? (I might be wrong) I love ordering their Takoyaki everytime I go here! You can never go wrong with that. Their ramen is so delicious and very flavorful. I can’t really compare this to Okinawa since I’ve never been there, but I am sure it is close. The atmosphere and the vibe of this place reminds me of Japan (from what I’ve seen watching documentaries). I love seating at their bar area since I can somewhat see the kitchen and behind the scene. We are absolutely coming back here especially with my takoyaki cravings! This spot is also one of the ideal date night places. Don’t miss out!

Lunch Time Feedback: Stopped by during their lunch time on a Saturday! It wasn’t that busy and we were able to get seated quick in the bar area. I was finally able to order their House Special Lunch with the vegetables yakisoba, side fried rice, and chicken karaage! I enjoyed the yakisoba since it wasn’t salty. As for the chicken karaage it was crispy and soft on the inside, it comes with yum2 sauce as well. Ordered some Rainbow roll, I wasn’t expecting that it included octopus and I’m not really a fan of octopus unless it’s takoyaki. Regardless, the rainbow roll was amazing. My husband ordered Teriyaki Chicken; he said he didn’t enjoy it since it had too much teriyaki sauce that overpowered the rice and the chicken itself. Overall, I enjoyed my meal, my husband said that he wished he ordered the same meal as I did and/or a ramen. Again, we will be back to try other stuff in their menu!

Dropped in for lunch. Got the house special lunch (vegetable yakisoba, vegetable fried rice & karaage). Notice they had spam musubi and ordered that also. Service was quick; portions large. However, I was expecting a teriyaki glaze on the spam, but the musubi came out with the spam just pan fried; kind of salty with the furikake and nori. The karaage was not seasoned/marinated very well. Came out with a mayonnaise-based sauce. Expecting a tonkatsu sauce.

A great little Japanese place with Okinawan fare. Went there on a Saturday night and it was extremely busy. We put our names on a wait list and walked around for 30 minutes while we waited for a table and eventually got seated at the bar in front of the kitchen. Got a bit of sushi to share as well as the taco rice and unadon (unagi donburi), which came with miso soup. The sushi was good and tasted fresh. The taco rice was tasty. The unagi was charred instead of grilled, but was otherwise good. The staff were polite, quick, and attentive. Overall a great place and I will definitely be dining here again.
