The Story Bridge is an impressive landmark and an icon of Australia. Taking a walk across it, especially at night, is a must—the lights are stunning. For those seeking adventure, the climb offers incredible views. The ferry and cruise options provide unique perspectives. The elevator makes it accessible, and its history since 1940 adds to the charm. Highly recommend visiting!
Adam was an amazing guide, making the climb enjoyable with his sense of humour and extensive knowledge of the history around the bridge. All while ensuring safety and wellbeing of the group. 10/10 Adam! Would certainly recommend this to others.
Brisbane’s answer to the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Story Bridge stretches across the Brisbane River to the northern part of the CBD. In addition to driving across you can also walk or ride across each side of the bridge. Offers great views of the city, there are plenty of pubs and cafes at each end to get some refreshments.
Would be nicer if there was a wider cycling/pedestrian path. Also would be nice if there were a staircase or elevator nearer the river coast for pedestrian walking along the edge and wanting to cross the river without walking 10 minutes in land to get on the bridge. Other than that it is a pretty bridge and I like the lights along the edge.
The view from here was great. There was also a pedestrian path and a bicycle path on it. The opportunity to walk comfortably without fear of vehicles was great.
Iconic Brisbane landmark everyone should walk/cycle over or climb at least once. You may have driven over it a hundred times, but out of the car and on the footpath by the edge is a totally different experience, it’s amazing what you see and hear and feel and smell when you on your feet and out of the traffic. If your walking, it like links the various walking/bike paths on either side of the river. If you’re going to do one of the commercial climbs there’s various options, evening and night are definitely the best times.
If you're in Brisbane, you'll likely find yourself crossing the Story Bridge several times. While it might not be a must-visit, being centrally located, there's no need to specifically plan for it in your itinerary. Just be aware that parking around this area can be a bit tricky.
