Was here a couple of years ago when I visited San Sebastian. I am visiting Bilbao this time so why not. Enjoyed the meal. We were reminded as soon as we sat that there is a maximum of two hours to enjoy our meal. The steak was a fantastic dry-aged cut. The starter was fab.

Super meal, super food and lovely service. I would recommend walking in and booking prior to going as it tends to be very busy in both the restaurant and bar area. Our waiter, Arnold, was very accommodating and gave us some local recommendations too! The food was so tasty, filling and fresh - both for meat and fish eaters. We shared starters, each had a main and shared a desert between four. If you have room at the end of the meal, I would suggest getting the French Toast - which is filled with a rice pudding - absolutely delicious. Definitely lived up to the hype of San Sebastián being the food capital of Europe!
Amazing pintxos and wine! Gandarias Jatetxea has a great vibe, and the food is fresh and delicious. Loved the mix of flavors—especially the goat cheese and seafood bites. Perfect spot for a quick, tasty stop. Highly recommend!

The pinchos are excellent but the table restuarant food is a disappointment. The seafood ingredients are fresh but the cooking could've been better - the fish we ordered was too oily, the cod and clams were overly creamy that it masked the taste of everything else.

Worth coming here for both pintxos and sit down dinner. Steak of any kind was amazing. Cold pintxos were also fab. Their scallops at sit down dinner were one of our favorite bites of the trip. The only thing I did not like was the traditional toast dessert.

Went there a few times for pintxos but also once for the restaurant. The place is always packed, so you have to queue to get to the counter and if you want a table you need to book it in advance (restaurant table menu is different and you cannot order pintxos). The food is worth the wait though, excellent tapas and red house wine. Restaurant dishes are a bit pricey but the quality is outstanding. Highly recommend!

First round of pintxos in San Sebastián, and it didn’t disappoint! Simple and fresh produce highlighted in tiny pintxos, which left my belly very happy.

My Spanish is rusty at best, but I’d like to think that my Spanish food vocab is top notch 🥰 having said that, I loved that the staff were very friendly and patient with my dodgy Spanish sentences, but also that one wall in the restaurant had all the pintxos translated into different languages!! It made it easy to navigate and to pick what dishes I wanted to sample.

Came during peak dinner time, so it was very crowded with tourists and there were some queue jumpers, which was mildly infuriating. Nothing could rain on my parade though.

All in all, this made the start of my trip to San Sebastián one to remember! 10/10 would come again next time I am in town!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time here! Was extremely busy in the Pintxos bar so we had to opt for the dining room. The food was delicious but wish we could have enjoyed their menu on the other side as well.
Service was welcoming and accommodating with dietaries as well.
Highly recommend

While planning the trip to San Sebastián I was dreaming about visiting the best of the best in as old town. Thus, I’ve booked Casa Urola in advance 4 weeks before the scheduled date.

Unfortunately, when we arrived at exact 9 pm, we were asked to wait for around 10 minutes and grab a drink downstairs. However, the ground floor was as usual super overcrowded. There was no possibility to grab any drinks or food without standing the line from the beginning for about 15-20 minutes. The unusually rude waiter told us to go to the beginning of the line.

We were welcome to sit only after 20 minutes of waiting on the worst table near the kitchen entrance. The menu was given after 20 minutes of seating.

And finally we have left. It was a total mess and nothing special with an overpriced menu. The design, atmosphere, service and everything is not for these prices.

Thanks to other wonderful San Sebastián restaurants.

Lovely dinner and service. Unique starter and dessert options and very lovely main dishes. The service was great and fast, even though we only had a reservation 21.15 we still had plenty of time to dine and even have dessert.
Even afterwards they walked us to the designated taxi place which was extra nice of them.
I very much recommend dining here if you’re visiting San Sebastián!

Been to San Sebastian 3 other times and could never get a reservation here. Finally, we got our chance this year. We had the beef chop with fries and peppers. The beef chop was nicely charred and well salted but not as premium as you'd get in Bar Nestor which was disappointing. Service was excellent and a few nice touches before and after the meal

Food was very good. They should focus on the service and experience.. as we have seen in other bars much better crowd control and service especially when they see you speak English, they help and ensure they recommend their specialties. Hell here the waiter got upset when we talked English.. 80% of the resto was non Spanish when we were there..

One of the best restaurants and pintxos in San Sebastián!! Highly recommended, we had Artichoke special pintxo and Urola pintxo, both are signature and top rated.

Loved our dining experience! The food was so unique and yet with a local comfort food feel. Each dish kept getting better and better. We really enjoyed the fish!

Visited July 2023 whilst on a long break in San Sebastián. Booked table some weeks in advance.

Food was good and the wine list is probably one the largest I’ve seen. It really was a great meal. Service was very good, nice break between courses.

Got taken down to wine cellar afterwards which is a treat in itself, very interesting and nice addition to the end of a meal.

Great service, friendly waitress, responsive on reservations. No crazy tourist line on our visit. Great dining experience! Price is so humble for it's pristine flavors!

Tasting menu €58 is FANTASTIC. We love every dish! Appetizers/ pepper pintxo are good. Spider crab in pil pil sauce are finely done. Unfortunately Iberico ran out but the replacement steak is sooo tender good and flavourful!

Wine pairing are of fine quality & a tad too generous. Desserts are mind blowing. I love their yogurt, French toast is a bomb! Cod cheek is truly best part only, massive cheek muscles with decent amount of collagen attached. Cooked in thick butter garlicky gravy.

Have to try them if you're in this area!

We ate upstairs with a reservation and the entire experience was wonderful. Some reviews by tourists suggest they were treated rudely, but I think you get what you give? The staff were quite nice to us as tourists and the food was amazing. The spider crab appetizer was our favorite and the beef incredible.

Some of the best pintxos we had in San Sebastian. The scallop in ajo Blanco was fantastic. The french toast dessert with coffee ice cream is also worth the trip. Very accommodating service.

Fantastic meal at a fantastic price. We opted for the tasting menu for 58€ and added on the wine pairing for 21€ per person. The slow cooked egg dish was a personal favorite though every dish was well prepared and delicious. We were amazed by the amount of food and drinks included and left very full and satisfied.

Absolutely fantastic restaurant! If you love wine, this is your spot. The restaurant is beautiful with a charming and inviting terrace and an incredible book of wine selections from around the world. A sommelier circulates around the tables to make recommendations based on your taste and cost preferences and selected 3 incredible wines for us from the Ribera region in Spain. We also enjoyed several dishes from the menu including oysters, cuttle fish and venison. While the seating arrangement was picturesque, a member of our party battled 3 bird droppings over the course of the meal before moving chairs. Overall, a wonderful experience.

Most incredible wine list and wine cellar I've ever seen. Apparently the king of spain wines and dines there... Its touted as one of the best in the world with over 65000 bottles of wine.

Food is good especially the fillet mignon and the pate with lemon cake. Bread is constantly served and the service from our sommelier waitress was excellent she was really generous in taking us down to see the amazing wine cellar. Atmosphere is lovely, they provide blankets if you are sitting outside and feeling cold. Olives served as a snack was really fresh!

They are usually full so booking is a must.

This was the most expensive meal of our 4 days in Danostia, but it was worth it. Sitting outside at the port. We shared between two a salad, anchovies fried with garlic and monkfish with boiled potato for main course. All delicious. We also had 1 beer, 1 bottle of house white and 2 coffee. €109.
Service also excellent.

Rekondo, a rustic property along the road up to Mt Igueldo. This place has several aces up its sleeve. One is definitely the setting, in a former farmhoise with views of La Concha Bay. The seating at the patio is charming. The restaurant offers upscale Basque cuisine. The red prawn carpaccio and the baked crab were very good. The Desserts were wow. We tried the mille feuille and Hot Apple cake.

One of the best meals I've had I a long time. Really tasty, service a little slow, but you're on holiday so who cares! Very friendly waitress. Totally recommend.
We first dined here in 2019 and decided to do so again on our recent San Sebastián trip. If anything the food is even better, the slow cooked egg and torrija simply brilliant as was the rest of the tasting menu.
Service exceptional as was the overall atmosphere in a packed restaurant.

Everything here was perfect. The food, service, atmosphere, the wine list, not to mention the wine cellar (a must see). Attention to every detail. It's not on the list of To-Talk-About, but the Ox Ribeye is phenomenal. I preferred it to my friend's filet mignon. The sommelier turned us on to great recommendations, (below the limit i set) that were superb

Amazing place! The food was absolutely delicious as (I expected from all the reviews) from start to end and the staff was very lovely. Our waiter was a pleasure to talk to and would entertain us with her quick wit. Our table ordered the market menu but hoping someday i can come back for the tasting menu

A perfect way to finish our final night in San Sebastián.

The food was really great, we were able to split our entrees onto two plates so we were able to share, would definitely recommend asking for that, if you can’t decide/fancy trying a few things on offer!

Both had individual mains; my wife really enjoyed the baked crab whilst I went for the suckling pig, which did not disappoint.

I don’t have much of a sweet tooth but my wife ordered a dessert - I believe called the chocolate volcano and I was encouraged by the staff to have just a small teaspoon 😂

Very knowledgeable sommelier who guided us through the menu and in the end encouraged us to a couple of glasses of Rioja which was an unexpected highlight - although my personal highlight was the Armagnac from 1987!

An unforgettable evening and would like to pass on my heartfelt thanks to everyone for making it so special.

We ate:
Prawn carpaccio
Lobster
Sucking pig
Baked crab
Chocolate volcano
Rioja (red & white by the glass)
Cava (by the glass)
1987 Armagnac
Amazing restaurant in the middle of the old town. Me and my friends had a spectacular food experience in this place, everything is super tasty and very well presented. The menu changes often and they use seasonal and fresh products. Highly recommended!
Service could have been a little more attentive but overall a great experience. The location is also exceptional!

Lovely little restaurant, good atmosphere and service. Majority of dishes first class, some missed the mark slightly but maybe because we were a little tired.

Had dinner at this Basque restaurant with a more modern take on traditional dishes. Ordered the spider crab, squid in its ink, the flank steak, and the apple tart for dessert. All were cooked to perfection. The squid has been the best interpretation of this dish I've had so far in this area.

Service was friendly and attentive, and the general atmosphere was laid back.

What’s not to like? Fresh grilled seafood by the port. Friendly service. Sip sangria and watch people pass. We had the grilled sardines, grilled clams, grilled cod, salad and fries. All very good. Reservations required.

Divine culinary experience! Some of the best dishes and flavors we’ve had in food and wine in our lifetime. Get the tasting menu with wine pairing. It’s worth the cost because it is a culinary delight. The sommelier walks you through a history of the local and regional wines, many of which are 100-200 bottle productions in Spain. The chefs attention to detail and his ability to meld flavors together is something of magic.

Nice and cozy place with delicious food and great selections of wines! We tried the tasting menu and it was absolutely amazing. My only comment would on the waiters, not so attentive as you would expect in a place like this; my boyfriend was without drink for half of the night.
Other then that, very recommendable.

Perfect small restaurant with amazing food, lots of local ingredients, and some of the best combinations I have ever tasted. Lost of flavours and surprising contexts. Much better than expected by the 1 Michelin star rating. But their pace of the wine paring of the tasting menu was a bit to much up beat. We were not able to keep their pace and had to ask them to slow the wine glasses down. while we enjoyed the food.

Great food !Everything was nice. The service was correct, not too much but friendly. The steak tartar was one of the best I have had. This was my third time in the restaurant. Many times in the bar. It is worth going back.

Excellent, relaxed Michelin dining. Good atmosphere and not at all stuffy. But don’t let that fool you - the food is divine.
We opted for a tasting menu with accompanying wine flight, which worked extremely well.
Imaginative, creative, beautifully presented food, which they will swap out if there is something you don’t eat (I don’t eat red meat and the ‘alternative’ could easily be on the main tasting menu).
Would highly recommend this restaurant.
One of the best fish & seafood restaurants in San Sebastián. Next to the fishing port with exceptional and friendly service. Monk fish and King Crab are a must! 100% recommended if you want a true sea food experience!

So happy we found this place
Fantastic seafood and really good service. The best we have had all week.

We tried our luck to get a table at 12.30 as they were fully booked when I called for the weekend and we were welcomed and given a table until 3pm

Ordered the grilled sardines, octopus and squid . Fresh and absolutely delicious

Wine is priced well and the sea bream was fresh and cooked to perfection. Thanks to Lorena for explaining the menu to us

Will definitely be back and recommend this restaurant
