Very interesting place. I would like to know what all the little wood boxes were?? Bat boxes, bird? For bees?? I wish there were some sort of explanation. The path was wonderful AND THE DUCKS SO FRIENDLY! No we did not feed them. Lol

Whimbrel Point at Colonel Samuel Smith Park is a hidden waterfront gem in Toronto. This tranquil spot offers a breathtaking view of Lake Ontario, with a sense of calm that's hard to find in the city.

The walking paths, lush greenery, and the soothing sound of the water make it a perfect escape. Birdwatchers, in particular, will appreciate the diverse avian species that frequent the area.

Whimbrel Point provides a welcome break from the urban hustle, offering a peaceful connection with nature right in the heart of the city. It's a spot that's worth exploring, especially for those seeking a touch of serenity by the lakeshore. 🌳🌊🦆
This spot was not as nice as it can be. But is a decent overview of the forest.
Beautiful place for a good rugged trail walk.
The scenic views and sounds are worth many trips.
The hilly area and gorgeous colours of fall are attractive.
Its a huge area so take your time to enjoy the place. Take a few handy snacks and drinks for the walk.
There are signs which say dogs need to be leashed but sometimes the owners don't pay heed to this and it gets troublesome for people like me who are scared of dogs (no judgement please)

Peaceful location, not too high in elevation and isn't much to see except the vegetation.

The perfect spot for a picnic. Nice scenic view with the skyline of Toronto. Try go early morning or on sunset with your friends and family.
But too many mosquitoes around so carry a bug spray.

I can confidently say that it is a remarkable destination that left a lasting impression on me. Whimbrel Point is a place of natural beauty and tranquility, offering a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Located in a pristine coastal setting, Whimbrel Point boasts breathtaking views that encompass a rugged shoreline, sandy beaches, and expansive ocean vistas. The combination of rocky cliffs and rolling waves creates a picturesque landscape that is both awe-inspiring and peaceful.

One of the highlights of my visit to Whimbrel Point was the abundance of wildlife that thrives in this coastal haven. The point is named after the whimbrel, a migratory bird species known for its distinctive appearance and melodic calls. Witnessing flocks of whimbrels in flight, with their graceful wings and long, curved bills, was a truly captivating experience that reminded me of the marvels of the natural world.

Beyond the whimbrels, Whimbrel Point is home to a diverse array of bird species, making it a paradise for birdwatchers. Sandpipers, gulls, terns, and other coastal birds can be spotted along the shoreline and in the surrounding marshes. The symphony of bird songs and the sight of these elegant creatures soaring through the sky added to the enchantment of the place.

Exploring the hiking trails that wind through Whimbrel Point allowed me to immerse myself in the natural wonders of the area. The trails meandered through coastal forests, revealing hidden viewpoints and serene spots where I could pause to take in the beauty of the surroundings. The fresh ocean breeze, the scent of wildflowers, and the sound of the waves crashing against the shore created a sensory experience that was both invigorating and calming.

For those who enjoy water activities, Whimbrel Point offers opportunities for kayaking, paddleboarding, or simply strolling along the beach. I couldn't resist the temptation to dip my toes in the crystal-clear waters and feel the coolness of the ocean against my skin. It was a moment of pure bliss and a chance to connect with the natural elements that make Whimbrel Point so special.

Throughout my visit, I was impressed by the commitment to conservation and environmental stewardship at Whimbrel Point. The area is carefully protected to ensure the preservation of its delicate ecosystem. Interpretive signs and educational materials provided valuable information about the local flora, fauna, and conservation efforts, deepening my appreciation for the natural wonders I encountered.

In conclusion, Whimbrel Point is a destination that captures the essence of coastal beauty and offers a sanctuary for wildlife and nature enthusiasts. Whether you're a birdwatcher, hiker, or simply seeking solace in nature, Whimbrel Point provides an unforgettable experience that celebrates the wonders of the natural world.

Great place to birdwatch. There is a bench at yhis point but often occupied. Great view of the Toronto city skyline. Bring bug spray, though, because there were lots of mosquitoes.

Pretty impressive sign post and views of the city. For the most part it's a peaceful park but it's too bad some dog owners wreck it by allowing their pets off leash. Easy walking and great in the summer.

Its located fairly close to the parking lot. You can see the canopy of trees and the river below. The view would look great with the fall leaves.
Great views. Limited parking, arrive early.

Here are some views from the summer and fall. Observation Deck is really the best part of this trail.
I like how accessible it is to the parking lot. The creek looks particularly beautiful.

You can find birds, butterflies and ticks here (so beware!).

Dogowners, the place does allow dogs!

And hikers, please don't litter, there are bins near the parking lot!
It is one of the most soothing place I have ever visited. This gem of a place is just next to my campus, Humber Lakeshore and I visit this place regularly! Water on 3 sides, ships sailing, frequent kayaks and the Toronto Skyline view makes the perfect combination for a perfect gateway!
Small trail,
You can go with your pet

A must visit during the fall. The absolute BEST place to see fall colours if you time it right. During the autumn season, timing is everything.

Love Vista Trail, the Observation Deck is about a 8 min walk from the parking lot. Pretty view, in the winter you can see the river frozen over and in the fall the colours are beautiful!
