Closer to the top of this local mountain. Much more windy.
Pretty view of the valley and better for sunset

A great scenic view with a trailhead. An awesome place to see the fall colors on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
The view from this overlook on the parkway was amazing. Admittedly, we were a bit early in the year for peak leaf turning but we still had a wonderful drive
Hominy Valley Overlook, nestled in North Carolina's Pisgah National Forest, is a visual delight. The atmosphere is one of tranquility, with the gentle sounds of nature creating a soothing backdrop. The panoramic view of mountains and the valley below is a sight to behold, particularly as the sun sets, casting a warm glow over the landscape. This location is a haven for those seeking a peaceful retreat, photographers in search of stunning vistas, or anyone desiring a picturesque spot for a picnic. It also provides a romantic setting for those special, quiet moments.

Great hike. Coming back in spring.
The trees were somewhat grown up at this particular overlook, but you could still get a great view of the mountains and color changes. Worth the stop for sure. We hit a tunnel before stopping here.
This is a great view of the Wash Creek Valley. You are high enough in elevation to get a good view of the scenery for many miles. I thought it was particularly nice, as is all of the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Absolutely beautiful place to see.

While on a road trip from Fort Collins Colorado to Key West & back in March 2022 we drove the section of the Blue Ridge Parkway from Asheville to Cherokee NC and stopped here to take in the view. It was not crowded this time of year and was a very enjoyable drive on a beautiful spring day.
Nice view of the Hominy Valley. There is a relatively large parking area here. Though the view is a little narrow, it is nonetheless beautiful.

A very nice place to visit anytime. A sunset can be outstanding.
beautiful a great experience to know this spectacular place
Nice parking area with a nice view looking northwest into Hominy Valley. There's no access to the Mountains-to-Sea Trail (MST) from this lot but the view is worth a stop alone. Elevation - 3,980 feet.
Nice overlook near Ferrin Knob Tunnel Number #1. There are some trees in the way but the view is still really nice looking south into Wash Creek Valley. Definitely a nice place to stop. The name comes from heavy rains events. During which, the creek will rise and overflow creating a "wash". Elevation - 3,435 feet.
SUNSET SPOT! Such a gorgeous view of the valley where I was raised and all the westerly mountain ranges beyond. It’s about 15 miles south on the Parkway from Hwy 25 with around 8 miles of windy roads through many tunnels to get to Hominy Valley Overlook. Once you’re there!! Wow! Make the journey. Drive with care on the Parkway and please!! Don’t hit the bicyclists!!! Thank you.
Beautiful views from this Overlook. The valley is not only full of trees but with rolling hills and peaks. If it was foggy in the valley or cloudy, you may get fascinating views.
This is a great overlook if you want to get a good picture of the tunnels in the area. You can walk along the roadside to the nearest tunnel. If you have a friend with you it makes for a great place to get some pictures of your car as you drive through, just be careful of traffic.
We hike the Mountain to Sea trails from the overlook. CMC has improved the trail. Love it. Get out of your car and hike 🚶‍♀️ 🙂

Lived up to the name Smoky as was some overcast. Still in wintertime can really see more than when trees in full leaf. Never realized before how much there is deciduous. Rhododendrons will be glorious in a few weeks.

Beautiful location to catch the sunset or sunrise. Specially on this time of the year. The lighting is so delicate as the sun goes down it eve turns it into the perfect environment to have a romantic time with your loved one. We recommend to bring some snacks to enjoy the view but be responsible and take your own trash after spending your time at this gorgeous location. This pictures where taken on a sunny fall day towards the end of December and eventhough you can see what I'm talking about is not even close to be there. The sky shades are breathtaking from this point in the blue ridge parkway. Come and see it for your self.
It was really colorful, got a chance to visit on a foggy day.
