A great park for walking, hiking or jogging with so many lovely trails in the woods. Always a nice place to watch sunset. Not even mention a great place for rail fans!

Carkeek Park is a little difficult to find if you only listen to your GPS so you need to pay attention . A short walk from the parking lot up and over the train trestle to the beach. This beach is not as well traveled which keeps the crowds down which makes it very nice for the locals to be able to enjoy its amazing views . My daughter likes to stand on the beach and watch the seals in the water. I enjoyed the sunset across the water while relaxing.

What a gorgeous park. So glad we went to check it out. Stunning views. Plenty of room to wander around. Also bathrooms have running water!

I SAW A CRAB:D The inner child joy is insane. He was a subject of attraction, people were poking him and taking pictures. The seagulls on the beach were mostly flying around, but they all seemed pretty disinterested. There were lots of Seattle residents when I went; kids were with parents playing in the sand, friends were there exploring the tide pools, and there were park/beach guides meandering around ready to answer any questions. There were drawings in the sand of marine life, like a shark, and even a 2D rock sculpture of a huge fish in the sand. Residents were making art on the beach implementing natural materials, and my family and I all added one rock as well. This beach was very clean as well. I did see a storm/sewer drain, but it was further away from the water carefully tucked away. I am constantly revisiting this beach, cloudy or sunny, with or without intent. I love it 🤍

One of our favorite little Beaches. Great to walk to for an afternoon at the beach 🏖️ You can leave oozits and wazzits for the mermaids. No bathroom available so it's more of a locals spot. But you can go paddle boarding from the cove.

It’s worth coming here for the huge house that stands on the water. Very beautifully reminiscent of Norway

Discovery Park offers a serene escape from the urban hustle and bustle, nestled amidst the vibrant city of Seattle. During my recent evening visit, I was captivated by the park's abundant natural beauty and tranquil ambiance.

One of the most striking aspects of Discovery Park is its expansive and diverse landscape, which includes rugged cliffs, sandy beaches, lush forests, and open meadows. This variety provides visitors with a range of environments to explore and appreciate. As I wandered through the park, I found myself immersed in stunning vistas of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains, offering breathtaking views that are truly awe-inspiring.

Aside from its picturesque scenery, Discovery Park also boasts an extensive network of trails, perfect for hiking, jogging, or simply taking a leisurely stroll. These trails meander through the park's various habitats, allowing visitors to encounter a rich array of plant and animal life along the way.

Furthermore, the park's commitment to conservation and environmental stewardship is evident throughout, with interpretive signage providing valuable information about the area's ecology and history. This educational aspect adds depth to the visitor experience, fostering a greater appreciation for the natural world.

Overall, my evening at Discovery Park was a delightful escape into nature, offering a welcome respite from the urban chaos. Whether you're seeking solitude, outdoor recreation, or simply a chance to reconnect with the natural world, Discovery Park is a must-visit destination in Seattle.

I took the loop trail up until the lookout, then caught the trail down to south beach. The loop is slightly better maintained as the south beach trail has some broken plank steps, but not too bad. Beautiful park and beautiful beach!
It was such a good experience. I really liked that place. The land is so vast and I like the environment, the water, the trees, the light house, everything. It was so cold out there in December and I suggest you guys visit that place either in the morning or evening. Loved the sunset.

Explored a 7.2 km (4.5 mi) trail in Discovery Park, Seattle, found on AllTrails. Took me about 96 mins, offering stunning views of the park, water, and beach. The firehouse, a beautiful but seemingly abandoned structure, added a touch of intrigue to the scenic walk. A must-visit for nature lovers.

Gorgeous place to spend the afternoon, free parking and well taken care of park. There were lots of people hiking and playing with their dogs so you feel super safe. It is a really BIG park with lots of easy trails. I saw people of all ages walking around, seems like a great place for families to hang.

This is a beautiful park, the beach is nice and has great views of Mt Rainier and the rest od the mountains as well. One downside is that it’s near a waste treatment facility. So it can smell like poo sometimes!

It is beautiful tho. Cool lighthouse. 5/5 great to bike ride too.

Beautiful scenery! You can see the whole sound, city, and Mount Rainier! Perfect place to visit for a short hike, views, and a beach. There is little lighthouse that is perfect for pictures but also just for a quiet place. The park is relatively busy with other people, all friendly of course. The best part is if you're visiting you can take the bus to and from the park to just about anywhere in Seattle!

This is a great urban park with the loop trail being a relaxing 4.5 mile hike. It feels like you are out of the city when you don't have time to travel out of the city. There are really nice views and a great stretch of beach too. Due to the variety of trials, this is a great place to dial in boots. It has sand, dirt, packed dirt/rocks, trail stairs, and a 450ft ascent/descent elevation change.

Just beautiful! Make sure to come here in the morning to get the most out of your shots!
Very nice and quiet place to see the sunset, though in August it sets pretty far north up the coast, so you don't get the best view.

This view was incredible and easy to get to. Highly recommend stopping here for a great panoramic view of the city.
The bench's view is buried in bushes.
Good place
Amazing view of the city from West Seattle. Free parking lot and street parking available. There is plenty of parking throughout the day. We always come on the weekends, and have never had any issues finding parking. Please make sure not to leave your belongings and valuables inside your vehicle.

Beautiful in night to view the seattle skyline.
We were visiting Seattle, and stopped by here to watch the sunset view. Its is more like a roadside view rather than a park. There are a few benches. It was just gorgeous to see everything from the space needle to Mount Rainier. Very crowded and there was some engagement going on. Parking can get very difficult especially on weekends, we managed to get a spot on the street.

Meh. I guess it's a higher bluff than most in Seattle to view from. There's better views from downtown.
Nice viewpoint of the Seattle skyline. It’s pretty clean and easy to access, located along a road the runs the edge of northern West Seattle. It’s a good place to stop while on an outing in the area, or a nice pairing with Queen Anne for views of the city.
Amazing place to see Seattle skyline, Seattle sunset, and amazing place to hangout. Plenty of free parking. If you don't find parking just in front of skyline view then try in next block. This street is pretty empty.

Walk to parson garden and another view at the corner. This place is always open and very nice. Super windy sometimes so prepare accordingly
In Europe, you'd find a great Café etc. at such a place
Very beautiful!

A must go place if visiting seattle . The view is just amazing . Very famous view for the needle and seattle downtown . Parking is a little crazy but luckily we got a parking just opposite to the park . There are long lines of people taking pics but you will get space to take pics. . We took a lot of pics here and on then went to seattle downtown . On the way back , we also had a look at night view of needle and downtown . It was just awesome .. loved this place !

Great place to chill out but the locals are paranoid lunatics and will call the police on you for sitting in your car eating your lunch and the cops aren't all that friendly. I'm sorry I eat my sandwich wrapped in foil doesn't mean I do drugs. Never have.

A pleasant stop during a walk along Beach Drive and the shore-front, with explanations as to why the park was established and how it represents responsible treatment and restoration of the shore.
There's information about cormorants and other sea birds, as well as illustrations of seabirds you may see.
All in all, a pleasant stop.
Fantastic view. Very popular on sunny days year round. The sunset view is down the street at the Betty Bowen Outlook.
Beautiful views. Great date night spot to enjoy the Seattle seascape. Ample parking and everyone seems to be super respectful of the neighborhood.

No loud screaming people but… we came on a weeknight so maybe it’s different during the weekends.

Beautiful view of lake Washington and u of w
Great place but really crowded today. The weather was awesome at least 70 degrees. Light breeze of the wind. Sunshine wasn't that hot. Small car shows and many people enjoying the view of the space Needle.
The overgrowth means it's not even a viewpoint anymore. It's just a bench.
Beautiful view of Puget Sound and the Great Wheel.
Great viewing spot of Puget Sound!

Nice public access to the water here. I've never done it but this could be good spot to launch water craft during higher tides. Great place to access the beach to walk along during the lower tides when you can walk all along under the apartments and stuff. Landscaping is always to top notch here complete with a green dog bag dispenser thing for those more responsible pet owners that visit.
You have to go and see the view from this scenic outlook in this little park! I get it. Pike Place first but this MUST be second you will not regret it.

We spent an enjoyable hour on a gorgeous day watching the progress of a container ship entering the Seattle port. The views are amazing. The views are clearly the go to backdrop for the locals as evidenced by the live Fox News broadcast from this location on the day we were there.

The surrounding neighborhood is lovely as well. Please respect the homeowners in the area. Watch your noise, respect both the public and private property, and enjoy the wonderful views.
