Free to enter. Good combination of museum and art.
The Indigenous section was poignant and didn’t avoid truth.
It is a free place, which has different expositions, some of which are usual and others are rotative, and they change.
It has good features, a cafe next to the museum. Moreover, one exposition is outside to main build.
I love to visit this place. On holiday it has more visitants
A great place to learn about Tasmania’s history. The marine section on Antarctica particularly caught my interest. Good place to spend hours here.
Excellent museum, great history on Tasmania. Why kill the Tasmanian Tiger?
Loved the womens convict ship tiles.
Well worth a visit people!
Spent over 4 hours at the museum and gallery. Lots to see and learn. Two parts to explore and several levels. Don't miss the Bond Store! Includes top Indigenous displays depicting a sad time in Australia's development.
A must go and see for every family and group. Highly educational and also fun. You can stay for hours there and won’t be disappointed nor bored.
Museum has 3 levels and is full of amazing exhibits. Free to enter. Special thanks to Luke for his informative and passionate explanation of local history.
Very nice place to spend a couple of hours. Free entry but donations appreciated. Has 2 stories and several exhibitions, most of them were very informative. Very large courtyard to soak in the sun. Do note that entrance to the museum is off to the side at Campbell Street.

Great Gallery. Quality work and service.
Such a cool little gallery supporting the work of local artists. Great for gifts. Love the vibe!
Thoroughly enjoyed this musuem every time we’ve come to Hobart. Antarctic section super interesting and well curated with plenty for kids and adults. Lovely selection of art work, refreshingly displayed and lots of flora and fauna and space for running about for smaller kids too! And all for free!!!!

Interesting modern art paintings
It was great to introduce the kids for history and art. The play area is fantastic, and there are lots of adventure areas for the kids. The tool kit is great fun. The kids and I loved the finger puppets and were said to return them after. You can grab your own at the gallery shop.
Absolutely phenomenal. I usually tend to go out and explore by myself and museums are definitely my favourite. This museum has got to be one of the best by far. Shares a lot of history knowledge and I learned some new things about the history of the land. Wonderful items and I would 100% definitely recommend going!!
Great artworks, get to know local history. Don't go to the other gallarey and pay money, free entrance here. Great aircon for a hot day, support local artists.
A fantastic stop for anyone visiting Hobart.

Walking in I was able to listen to a symposium on Wildlife Conservation, and then a very interesting talk about the utility of ecological collections.

After this, I walked through the museum and the art gallery. In the art gallery I verged upon outstaying my welcome, listening to perhaps the most passionate and knowledgeable staff member, Luke, that I have come across in any gallery. I would recommend this place just to listen to the bloke talk!

Definite recommendation. (All free too!).
Amazing place to visit in the heart of Hobart, we were so surprised that it was completely free we were greeted by a wonderful male staff member thu 14/9 I’m sorry I missed his name but he was so helpful and warm explaining the exhibits, where the gift shop was and that the cafe had a strong good coffee, we spent about 2hrs exploring the centre it was well worth the walk around with twisted, and the native animals being our favourite we bought some lovely gifts for family in the shop it was a really wonderful morning

Fantastic gallery in Hobart
I like to see Zsolt Faludi’s pots and Martin Rek’s wonderful pencil drawings of landscapes at Handmark but there are very many Tasmanian artists represented there.
Amazing free museum with a diverse collection - definitely worth a trip if you're in Hobart. No tickets are required, you can walk in and see the collection. Not crowded even on a weekend.
Bett Gallery shows Tasmanian artists at the peak of their practice. Exhibitions are always brilliant and surprising and the Bett family approachable and accommodating. Located in the centre of Hobart's business district, this gallery is not to be missed by anyone interested in contemporary art!
An amazing place in the middle of the city. Always something new to see

Dark Garden by Val Sparkes was a stunning exhibition at Bett Gallery Hobart. Limited edition prints of this brilliant photographic work are still available, even though the shop is now closed.

Wonderful place to see art and maybe even buy some!
So much bigger than I anticipated.

My children spent time doing a hands on art project with an artist Takira and enjoyed themselves. It’s awesome to have an artist who is active, engaging, present, and also has work displayed at the same time.

I particularly enjoyed the furniture and the natural history section. I could have spent much more time there!

We parked in Dunn Parking area which is right next to the Museum.

The best contemporary art gallery in Hobart. Fortnightly exhibitions over two spaces, ranging in medium, style and type.

There is a focus on painting and ceramics, some sculpture was seen in their stockroom.

The staff were very friendly and answered all questions asked. They didn’t have their nose turned up even when discussing the works with a prospective younger couple.

Small, quant and interesting gallery space located within Salamanca Arts Centre. It shows two dimensions and three dimensions works, most of their collection is paintings. They also have some jewelry.

A space out the back appears to host workshops.

Cute, adorable, fun and witty all rolled into one. You’re bound to find something that will make you chuckle or a cute whimsical gift for a friend (see photos for an idea). Loved the ‘fresh coffee’ candle smell too!

What a wonderful store, I will be recommending Spacebar to everyone I know. Melly’s wonderful and adorable sculptures are bringing me joy on the daily. Huge shoutout to Tash - I couldn’t be happier with your extremely patient and attentive customer service. 🥰
Really nice ambience and an interesting layout. A nice gallery to drop into.
A really nice space with large wooden beams and a colorful array of artworks to peruse. Worth a drop in with friendly staff.

Great gallery. The operator has their finger on the pulse with both career established, and somewhat more importantly, young emerging artists.

Fantastic art.....but fairly poor communication when buying. There was a delay by 3 months in a piece we purchased, which is fine, but the communications around this were poor.

This gallery has the most lovely range of work permanently available and frequently changing exhibitions. Most of it is quite contemporary but it varies. They also have some fabulous Tasmanian made high end jewellery and ceramics at all times. The staff are friendly but happy to let you browse.

Had many fine pieces of contemporary art - some high end artists with prices to match - and mix of emerging artist plus well informed friendly staff.
A wonderful collection of contemporary painters whose work I have admired via the gallery's website for years. Seeing the works in person was a real treat. The exhibition space itself was smaller than I imagined, given the number of artists represented, so I was keen to see other works from the artists I particularly admired. I found more work in the store room below and spent some time carefully leafing through various artist's work stacked vertically on shelves. It was wonderful but I just wish the storage system allowed for easier viewing. My thanks to Jack Bett though, who kindly took the time to show me through the works. I look forward to visiting again next time I'm in Hobart :)
