I’m not originally from Derby, but whenever I visit I always make sure I stop off here! Every time I’ve been the staff have been so attentive, the atmosphere is excellent, drinks are bang on and the evening in general is always a great one when spent here!
Love the cocktails with basil, and also watermelon!! Great service, thanks to Lotus and Omar, who sorted me out. And thank you to Taylor, for the recommendations!
Came for some food, was told to wait while they updated the menu, then was offered a menu of 3 main options, of which all where burgers and then told to wait 20 as the kitchen doesn't open until 4, even though they advertise food served from 12. Very confused. Don't recommend.
Waste of time! Went today to watch the British Grand Prix qualifying at 3pm as they advertised as showing it before the football at 5pm. Got in and nothing but tennis on all the screens....... Asked to see it and was told "we normally show football" (helpful). I asked could they put it on anywhere (it's a big venue), they actually did in another area of the building, good stuff, as we weren't bothered about sitting at the main bar anyway. Just at the start of the second part of F1 qualifying the TV was changed to the news..... We asked twice for it to be put back on, and they agreed both times, but it didn't change. Left disappointed and undervalued. Seemed short staffed, had run out of Guinness, and wine was sparse with a lot of white not in the fridge. Won't be back, I can watch the news at home with cold wine and Guinness. School report D minus "Must try harder"........
Good burgers and good booze. Took a long time to be served although the place was empty, seemed to only have one person on the bar. Bonus for having wireless charging points on thee table though!
One of the best curries I've ever had. All food and drink was lovely. Prices very good aswell. I'd recommend this place to anyone
The food was amazing great flavour and taste just the right amount of spice. Highly recommend the food I had a take out but imagine eating in would taste even better. Plenty parking spaces and good pub venue. The food was quick to prepare and was very flavoursome. I will definitely be returning here.
I live around the corner and have seen this place go through many transitions, many of which have not been for the better. Have often felt sad that it has so much unmet potential. Was not convinced by yet another new owner and another new sign. Last night me and my partner went in search of food and a few drinks and were told by a neighbour that we didn't need to head into town but to try here again. I was dubious but we decided to give it a try. Wow! What a transformation! The food was amazing, we both said it was the best curry we had had in a long time. The staff were all great, the place looks clean and welcoming and everything was reasonably priced. We ventured into the function room and that has been done nicely too. There was music on in there and a great atmosphere. I will be spreading the word and will definitely go again. I suggest that they advertise their events and food locally to make everyone aware of the changes. Maybe put some vouchers through local residents doors to get them try it for the first time? I really hope that they do well!

Had an amazing experience here yesterday with my partner and two boys. Holly and Charlie were so helpful and friendly. They got games out for my little one to play with and were so attentive the entire time. The food was great (they were amazing at helping with my youngest ones allergies) and the drinks were fab too. I've never known a bottomless brunch to have such amazing food options. My little one had already asked when we can go back! Thank you so much for making my birthday celebrations so enjoyable!! We'll definitely be returning 🥰

Lovely decor, friendly staff but sadly a mixed review for food. The two adults in our party had a lovely meal but we were very surprised when the children’s burger came out to see it was half a burger in a bun! Whilst we were fully expecting it to be a small portion to that of the main menu, i’ve never seen a kids burger look like this! Even the waiter didn’t know what to say and went off to ask he chef if this was normal - which apparently it is!

First venture here, food is lovely. Each dish unique in taste. Service is decent and the staff friendly. Place looks newly done up, much better to take the family than their sister pub the Peartree. Big screens splashed everywhere, so if you like your sport this is a great venue. Would definitely go again.
Iv seen some negative reviews on here how can this be?I came down from south on the weekend for a party and I’m going to tell you that this place was brilliant,from start to finish ,from the door staff to the service at the bar,and the DJ /Music ,Fantastic ,I would go as far and say it was like a night out in the 90”s era -Great people no trouble,Best place to go out in derby by a country mile,I’ll definitely be back here 💯
Walk up the entrance staircase not sure of what awaits you, at the top a world of decadence awaits with stylish furniture and superb chandeliers, ok so the decor is impressive what about the cuisine? Superb cocktails and excellent food was what followed, the Sea Bass was spectacular and the Expresso martini exquisite, all served by Maddie adding class to the experience, overall I can’t recommend this venue highly enough. There is one area that they can improve on though and this is feedback for the management, the beer choices let you down, there is an easy answer though… speak to Shiny brewery at Little Eaton and stock a selection of their fabulous IPA’s they will add to your great offerings

Decor and breakfast is a must see in Derby. Loved the shakshuka and the fritters. The waiter was kind and helpful. Plenty of spaces at the first floor.
Bar staff were rude while serving us, would understand if it was busy but was quite quiet. The owner was rude and obnoxious, when spending upwards of £100 on drinks would expect a bit of respect.
Absolutely sensational experience! Made my team meal a pleasure! Very accommodating experience! A host named Ben was a star! Also the lady in the funky trousers! If I could’ve give a 100 stars I would’ve!
My friend and I did a bottomless Thursday lunch and it was fantastic! The best! I don't think I'll go anywhere else for one now. It was slightly more expensive but we wanted nice food and cocktails... And it was totally worth it.

I recently visited this pub that was recently taken over and I have to say, the changes that have been made are nothing short of drastic. From the moment I walked in, I could tell that this was no longer the same old pub I used to visit.
First and foremost, the food has gone from mediocre to absolutely amazing. The new menu offers a wide variety of dishes, from curry to amazing mix grills. Everything I tried was cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. It's clear that the new owners have put a lot of thought and effort into the menu, and it definitely shows.
But it's not just the food that has improved, the entire atmosphere of the pub has changed for the better. The decor is stylish and modern, creating a welcoming and comfortable ambiance. The bar staff are also a huge part of the positive experience. They are always friendly and welcoming, making sure that every customer feels right at home.

The place is amazing, staff are very pleasant and food is just amazingly delicious. Worth visiting. It's a gem and an apple tart, salmon main or cheesecake are just sensational
Had a great experience of having a few drinks at Friary. Charlie the manager and Katlin the chef.Was unbelievable accommodating to me and my girlfriend. Didn't have to be but went above and beyond to give us a class night!! much appreciated.
Came here for bottomless brunch yesterday. A group of 4 of us and we all loved it. Service was spot on, Brooke was excellent, really friendly and made sure the drinks were kept topped up. The best bottomless brunch I've done on account of the drinks choice, food choice and the customer service from Brooke, never had such great service at a bottomless brunch before. 100% be coming back
Honestly was left disappointed after a positive start with a lovely waitress who was left managing over 50+ people on a busy sports night. We were changed over to another waiter after shift change. He never let us know and then to top things off threw multiple drinks across our table, we ordered a botte and met the same response. After this I wouldn't return feel like you could easily spend money money on a brunch somewhere else in the town center and enjoy it more. Thank you . To top it all off were incorrectly OVERCHARGED. £39 each for a £29 standard brunch save your money.
21 of us for a Bottomless Brunch and the waiter Taf kept us all happy and well stocked with drinks, he was friendly and got the orders right every time, a credit to the company. Not a huge choice on the basic cocktails but it saved struggling to choose, we all got sloshed and that's the main point of Brunch. Those of us that remember the food thought it was pretty good 4/5, personally I can't remember but I'm booked again in March
This is an excellent place in a quintessential English village. The accommodation was superb even supplying toothbrushes and a razor should you have forgotten them. The bar had a great range of local craft ales and even it's own micro brewery. The full English breakfast was of top quality ingredients and very substantial, you won't need to eat much else until evening. Definitely somewhere I'd stay again if I'm in the area.
Maiya was the best host EVER. We did the bottomless brunch and she was very attentive and our glasses were never empty. She took the time to chat with us and make us feel welcome and also recommended some fantastic Gin pairings included in the brunch. The food that was included in the brunch was excellent quality and the portions very generous. Brilliant value for money.

Breakfast with a gentle 30's jazz club vibe. Interestingly decorated with plenty to point at and talk about while you enjoy the music, atmosphere, and above all the food. Plenty have cooked and sold me a full English, few have done it as well as here. Well done to your buyer and supplier and chef as every item was of the highest quality and tasted wonderful. Add in the superb and friendly service and it's a winning combination that I am in a hurry to repeat.

I've walked past this place countless of times and but never thought to pop in. Until today 29/12/23. First thing I noticed was the cleanliness very clean. For food as a vegetarian , I ordered the quorn chicken bollywood burger and it was delicious definitely something I will order again. For drink I had the raspberry cooler. I'm not a big alcohol person but this was lovely. Finally the staff where great. Customer service was spot on. Staff smiley and engaged with customers. Nothing was too much trouble . I will definitely be returning. Thank you
Part of a group night out, we had a really good meal, food cooked perfectly and well presented, not one complaint, other than the lemon cheesecake was overly sweet. Certainly among the best restaurant food I've had and particularly at this price point.
Service was amazing, drinks orders fulfilled quickly and all the food came out in good time, the staff were very friendly and appeared to genuinely enjoy their job. They also didn't put us under any pressure to leave. I've never been here before but will definitely be returning, highly recommend

Had 6 Sunday dinner good meal but not alot of meat to say gone up. One slice lamb. Had to wait for gravy. My partner said potatoes roasted were cold but he ate them. Would return but portion meat less. Overall good meal. Excellent pudding lemon meringue lovely.
Love it st the Bedford Arms. Great little old school booze. Chris and Debs are great hosts and we'll definitely be back.

Great sports bar in the centre of Derby. Was very impressed by the amount of screens throughout and the decor inside. Great setup for sports.
The food was ok..! I had the burrito bowl and tacos which took a little while and were quite small but were ok value for money.

I visited this venue to watch the rugby last night. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. Highly recommend people trying out this place such good atmosphere and amazing staff.
Went for the first time last week with my son for buy 1 get 1 free on burgers offer I had got. We went early so were actually the only 2 in, bit difficult to comment on atmosphere when it was just us but the staff were super friendly so made the limited atmosphere good. The chef was great and adapted a chicken burger for my son who said it was the best chicken burger he has ever had!

Staff were lovely, helpful when needed and the drinks were a reasonable price. The atmosphere inside was great. We went as a party of 7 and booked darts for 8pm. We didn't get into the room until 8:20pm and the board they were going to give us was shocking, considering we paid a good amount to come here. Darts only registered half the shots we took and the room was very small for a big booking. Disappointing but hopefully they invest and improve as it definitely has potential.
Had an amazing night for my 40th birthday. The staff were really helpful in arranging everything from food to drinks tab etc. Everyone has a great time. A big shout out to Ed who looked after us and made sure everyone was happy. Would definitely come here again and recommend the place. Also a big thanks to Brandon and Tom who were also on hand to help keep the drinks flowing and managing everything. Cheers guys.

They weren't very busy so it was fairly quiet at times. Apart from that the staff were lovely, Edward was especially attentive which was much appreciated. They gave us an extra 15 minutes due to a spilled drink on the dart lanes delaying our slot. Overall nice first experience.

Absolutely amazing. Our new favourite place to go, used to be slugs but this place is so much better. The service we recieved from Brogan was out of this world, really attentive and always made sure we had drinks on the table even though they were busy. Food was absolutely brilliant a good variety available and big plates full.The entire team were friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough for us, we were made to feel like we were the only customers in the place. All in all definitely the best bottomless brunch place so far and we've had a few.
Pretty poor show yesterday !! Went to watch the tennis and it seemed a chore for them to put it on for us. The place was empty and the atmosphere not great. The staff looked as though they didn’t want to be there. Service slow and with no smile. Ordered burgers and they were served with burnt chips. These were returned - burger was pretty poor too and it wasn’t cheap !! Pretty disappointing.
Turned up on Sunday afternoon as a group of 7. Staff were very friendly and set us up with drinks (the locally brewed ale was amazing and there were plenty of alcohol free options for those of us driving) and got us going on the shuffle board upstairs. We stayed a few hours and had a great time!
Edit: returned two weeks later and tried the food. Unfortunately 3/4 of the meals we ordered were wrong and completely inedible. Partners fried “chicken thighs” were a grey mush that looked like wallpaper paste, for example. Had to go elsewhere.

Food - First visit: A fair selection of food, not huge amount, but here it is quality over quantity. Food came fairly prompt and was presented nicely. Full of flavour and very enjoyable. Second visit: Food took a little too long considering there were only three tables. That being said, quality was still amazing.
Drinks - I visited with two friends and each had a different cocktail - again well presented and no complaints from any of us.
Service - First visit: Each and every staff member greeted us as we walked through and to our table - and wished us well as we left - a nice friendly touch. Our waitress was friendly but professional, taking the time to have passing conversation with us. Second visit: Whilst friendly, staff seemed less attentive. We also waited an excessive amount of time for our food, despite being one of only three tables. Lost a star for this for me.
Atmosphere - This was my first visit and was surprised at the sheer space and grandeur hidden behind the small front. Clearly an old classical building, but has been decorated well, to keep enough of the old touches whilst adding a quirky twist. Only down side was the heat, maybe investing in some air conditioning may be an improvement, but hey, everywhere feels like the surface of the sun this week.
Will recommend and return.

Very sorry to have to say it. It's not the pub but the man behind the bar is RUDE. We didn't want to visit this pub and visited after being spoken to by this very rude MAN who works behind the bar

Popped in for some food after hearing good things. The food is phenomenal, the staff and chefs were very accommodating as im lactose intolerant and swapped out normal cheese for vegan cheese and made sure every other sauce was vegan as it doesnt contain any milk. Ben the manager despite being busy as it was just after a game, made sure i was accomodated for. Highly recommended!!

I have dropped in for a sandwich for lunch. The BLT at £4.25 was very good: substantial, nice bacon, lots of salad. Would have been better on something other than steam baked white bread. A very nice pint of Timothy Taylor "Bolt maker" to wash it down. Pleasant staff.

I had the most amazing Sunday lunch with my parents today. Our usual pub was fully booked so we thought we would try here and what an absolute gem of a place it was. The service was fantastic and the food simply gorgeous and very reasonably priced. I cannot fault this place and we will most definitely be back again.
Called in on a Thursday night, good atmosphere, great music being played on the jukebox. Very friendly landlady and bar staff, had a good laugh will go again soon
Lovely local pub, fab landlady & landlord really accommodating. We need this pub in our area to keep the community together. Sundays are great everybody together and fun times.
I was really blown away by our night here, we'd booked a night for a small group, the communication was very swift and attentive. If I'm honest, we didn't have high expectations with it being a 'sports bar', however it way surpassed our expectations, great service, good array of drinks, nice atmosphere too, and the food in particular was really impressive. Had the best chicken burger I've ever had, sure its just a chicken burger, but it was cooked to perfection, and great flavours. Great games available too, Darts, shuffleboard, beer pong. We felt well looked after and really can't show our gratitude enough. Thanks guys, would highly recommend.

Executive service .been about. 45 years since. Been in the Bedford Arms still old tradition. Used to have a mate that used live upstairs and her parents tum it can remember. What her name was not sure if it was Beverly. Was 17.to 18 st the time used to play darts in the Bedford Arms great mate .love to find out where due is after all theses years land lady said she knew who used to live and run it wasn't sure of there name 🤔

It's a irish bar, a great little place to stop off, have a drink very frequently barstaff, a good crowd of people 👍
Never changes. Same tables chairs, large mirrors to make it look bigger. Same type of music, but that does get everyone up dancing. Been going on and off for the last twenty years. Toilets still a bit dated and lacks suitable out door heating in the courtyard.
Ok place to move onto for a drink but have noticed the bar staff are a bit on the unhelpful side. Or maybe it was just the couple I was served by.
Ok place to move onto for a drink but have noticed the bar staff are a bit on the unhelpful side. Or maybe it was just the couple I was served by.
I have been here so many times now and I keep coming back as I believe it might be my favourite bar in Derby. There is something just special and unique about this place. I always seem to have loads of fun here. Great for groups old or young
I'd like to thank the owner for his generosity today. The card machine was taking its time rebooting so rather than make me wait, he bought me the Diet Coke I had ordered! Top man.

Came here for an event our friend was dj-ing at... and it was brilliant! Tunes, after tunes after tunes... if you get chance you gotta check it out! We're from Wolves so the mission to get to Derby was already a bit like... what is this bar gonna be like?! However, surpassed our expectations and we had a brilliant night! Not sure what it's like on a standard Saturday but this event was sick! They have to sort those toilets out though... pretty grim...
The staff is great! So friendly! The food is also very good for a very good price as well. This was the best experience in Derby until now.
