It was one of the most exciting events I have experienced since coming to San Antonio! The zoo had animals from all over the world, including bears, monkeys, and bats! I think I had more fun than my two girls that I took with me. Wear comfortable shoes because there is a lot to see and things are spread out. I will definitely visit the zoo again soon.

Brought my 4 year old niece here. It was summer. It was HOT! Seriously, stay hydrated if you're visiting in the warmer months and keep the kiddos watered. And get there early.
The visit itself was great. She was enthralled by the variety of animals, and the information cards at each exhibit helped us teach her small facts about some of the animals. For some reason, she was adamant that she see the giraffes even though she never really expressed a heavy interest in them before. Then they offered the "Feed the giraffe" activity... Sneaky, but she'll love the memory.
Then, after all that, she only wanted (and by wanted, I mean sweet talked us into getting) a stuffed Okapi. Kids. Go figure.

This was the most delightful zoo I’ve been to! My husband and I hadn’t gone to a zoo in years, so we went yesterday towards the end of the day. The animals were well cared-for in the heat, which was my main concern, with some having been taken in already. The ones who were still out all seemed to be in wonderful spirits! The park was nearly completely empty, as we went near the end of a weekday after school had started, so we almost had the entire zoo to ourselves! The exhibits were phenomenal: diverse and well-organized. A wonderful staff member talked with me about the hippos when I sat beside them, and she shared with me that they were grandma Uma and grandson, Timothy, which made their playing together even more adorable! Some exhibits were air-conditioned, and outside were plenty of misting stations to keep cool in the heat! I used to be anti-zoo, and I still do not appreciate a lot of practices at other zoos, but this one definitely seemed to me to be very animal-care-centered. I will definitely be back. If you are looking for a delightful place to spend some time, this is a wonderful spot. Please go here if you can.

The San Antonio Zoo is truly one of the best, offering an unforgettable experience for families. From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable, with friendly staff eager to help. The zoo's diverse range of animals is both educational and entertaining, and the various exhibits are beautifully maintained. My daughter was thrilled with the interactive kid’s activities and fun attractions, which kept her engaged and excited throughout our visit. The food options were surprisingly good, providing convenient and tasty choices for a family meal. Overall, the San Antonio Zoo delivers on all fronts, making it a must-visit destination for an enjoyable and memorable family outing.

The zoo is the zoo. It’s fun and lots to see and do. The crowd on this day was busy but not terribly busy. It was a nice day, but burning hot. ALSO I LOVE THAT THE ZOO PROVIDES COOLING STATIONS WHICH INCLUDE COLD WATER, MIST STATIONS, AND WHERE YOU CAN SIT WAS AN AC UNIT BLOWING. Hands down and props for this! They invested on keep up hydrated and cool which saves accidents and honestly people some money from buy water. This part was neat and thank you SAN ANTONIO ZOO for this!

It's a beautiful zoo. Well kept and clean. Even with the heat and crowds, it was a fun experience. With that said, I do not recommend going during the summer and while school is out. There are shade and cooling stations throughout the park, but many of the animals are either hiding or asleep because of the heat. Combined with the crowds because everyone is there as a fun activity while the kids are out of school, you will need to bring your patience. Also, if you have sensory needs, they do warn you where it may be too loud without headphones, and they do offer a sensory needs bag with noise canceling headphones which is really cool.

The zoo was a fantastic visit. My mother was visited from Florida, enjoys walking, watching animals, and absolutely enjoyed this zoo (as we all did). The only unrelated issue we had was the recurring payments for the zoo membership as they would stop after a a few months. We didn’t feel like dealing it, but this is still a five-star visit! We couldn’t be any happier!

I visited with my daughter and her school last week and it was overall a great experience.
They are re-vamping at the moment, but you can still have a good time despite aesthetics.
My daughter was so happy to see the animals so I cannot complain. It was fun and educational. Thank you! :)

We are from out of state, visiting SA for a basic training graduation and got the city pass, our favorite thing was the San Antonio Zoo. It was so nice and a lot of animals to see. We had a great time. And we had no kids with us. So even adults will enjoy.

The San Antonio Zoo has gone digital. You have to scan the QRs code around the area to buy your tickets on your phone, or if you park in the free parking garage, there is a kiosk on the ground level and you can get tickets there, I believe.
I will say that for the $30+ adult admission price, I felt the value wasn’t quite there. The zoo is pretty big and spacious, but the price is steep considering the number of animals and exhibits. There are also up-charges for the Kangaroo crossing area, giraffe feeding, and several other things. With the high price of admission, I would’ve expected the kangaroo crossing to be included. I can understand the giraffe feeding being extra.
All in all, it’s a great zoo, but try to find a special discount or pricing. Also note that during the month of November, they feature a salute to heroes and they offer free admission to active duty, veterans, and retired military. They also offer 50% admission for up to four military family members. Just FYI…

Worst zoo I've ever been to anywhere. Overpriced even for a zoo, money goes into their new entrance and not the animals or guest experience. Pay for a ticket or membership like I did, to still have exhibits blocked behind yet another ticket you have to buy. I have a membership that I will be canceling for multiple reasons. We have gone multiple times a month and still haven't seen all of the animals. Simply because their habitats are so bad, the animals would rather stay inside than be out in their overgrown, rundown forgotten enclosures. The pathways are so old and worn down that they are extremely unsafe. Going uphill by the rhinos, the hill is so bad that it has many trip hazards on the ramp, sharp 2" inch concrete protruding by underground access in the middle of this ramp. Making almost impassable by strollers and impossible for anyone by themselves in a wheelchair. The other hill close to the concession stand is almost a 40-degree ramp about 20 feet long with broken concrete and metal slip strips to try to help with the incline. All the walkways are rough. These just stand out and are serious hazards. Exhibits look like that one house in the neighborhood that hasn't cut their grass in years. Seriously, the exhibits are horrible and not maintained. It's sad to have animals living in there. Lions and Tigers exhibit is so bad that the animals themselves are never out and always inside. When they "deep clean," they use BLEACH with animals right next to them. I watched a zookeeper carelessly throw the empty BLEACH bottle next to a bird, and it got scared and flew away. I got pictures after she threw the bottle. Don't waste your money. The zoo needs to be closed down to fix these many safety hazards and probably desperately needs new management the way it's looking.

Animals were active enjoying the fantastic weather. Saw active Lions, Tigers and Bears (oh my!) Everyone was friendly and sharing viewpoints for pictures to best see the wildlife. Habitats were well kept and animals looked healthy. Great day at the zoo! Get tickets online, it saves time at the gate. QR codes are available on the walking path.

What a beautiful place to watch all the animals! The entire staff throughout the zoo were so friendly! For a small fee we paid to feed the animals which was an amazing experience. You can definitely see how all the staff really care for the animals and want to educate you on each animal. It was a great experience overall!

The zoo is absolutely beautiful, always so clean and flowing with flowers. There is mist spots right now to cool down and the kids will love it. There's plenty on animal out. We went early and saw some feeding. Make sure you buy your ticket before hand. Right now there is some construction but nothing that'll stop any fun. Just go take the whole family. Love it, got the season pass so I can keep going back. Just a great environment.

Holy Shhh!!! Those photos!!!
I remember the apartment complex on the edge of the Grand Canyon!!!
And the tree growing out of the hand at the top of the stairs carved in the mountain!!!
I thought I was having an acid flashback standing next to an old rock building in Brackenridge park, but it's real!!!

Can be difficult getting here but it is worth it if going to the zoo.

My kiddo works at the zoo and I just love how the outside is old brick

People are so helpful and professional

Went for new hire fitting Orientation

Loved coming here on the weekend as they had so many events going on where you can do fun activities with animals. All the animals and their enclosures seemed well taken care of and happy. The staff are all friendly and ready to answer any questions you have. They have activities that are fun for children and adults to enjoy, definitely recommend trying their little 4D theater as it's very fun, educational and interactive. Even though they have cooling stations it still gets really hot and it's a lot of walking so I would definitely recommend being prepared by wearing some breathable clothes and light colors as well.
