I attended a funeral here. It was clean and dull with the spirit
I was highly disappointed. I went to a funeral on a Saturday afternoon and they kept referring to it as a worship service. The funeral was not about my aunt who died, but more of an emotional ride, so to speak. They barely mentioned her life.
The good lord lives here, how could you give that anything but 5 stars.

Went as a guided tour with my former pastor, I did not attend service. Current the establishment is under renovation on one side so not all was visible to view. This is definitely a historic staple to both Charleston and Christianity. May this sanctuary never faulter from the true gospel and I pretty Charleston never forgets or allows it's roots to get pulled up.

The first Baptist church is a name often used for this theological camp for churches that were not actually the first of their kind, but for some reason, when you look at the large wooden doors and history painted on the us church, you really feel like it is the very first baptist church.

My husband and I got married at First Baptist Church last month and it was the most beautiful venue I've ever been in! I've always wanted to get married in this church and the staff were very easy to work with. I'd highly recommend considering First Baptist if you're looking for a church wedding in Charleston!
This is my polling place and I haven't been in the sanctuary. It's adequate to the task, and every candidate who shook my hand lost his race.

We recently got married in this beautiful, historic church in downtown Charleston. Lori, the wedding coordinator, was an extreme pleasure to work with, and helped to make sure our wedding ceremony ran smoothly. She was wonderful at communication during the planning process, and gave suggestions throughout of things that I hadn’t thought of. On our wedding day, she made sure that not a detail went undone, and that everything went according to plan. Our guests fell in love with the church the moment that they stepped in, and it was the perfect place to hold our God-honoring ceremony! Thanks for all that you did!
Pastors you need to go outside of the box to learn more about religious then you can come a better preacher
This church is the real deal. The message is filled with Gods word, given by a pastor who is filled with the Spirit and God's word flows out of him.There is no watered down Gospel. Community is encouraged, and authentic. The congregation is welcoming and the worship music is heartfelt and current without the "smoke & mirrors". A diverse community where all are welcome, all races, all ages.
We come to the Living Nativity every year at Christmas and just from this one night a year, I can tell that their members are truly the hands and feet of God and are spreading the Good Word and leading people to the Lord. Great work!

We went to the live Nativity. What a neat experience. My daughter especially liked the free hot chocolate, snacks, and made on site kettle corn! I'm glad I saw this on Facebook.
After multiple visits I've concluded the following: you can experience the presence of God at this church through deep sermons, the welcoming love and compassion of all ages and races of people, through worship, and the emphasis put on child development. If your looking to truly grow in Christ and experience something greater than "church" then visit this place.
