Top Asian restaurants in Doncaster, Australia

Always love popping over here for a quick dinner. Service has gone down a bit lately but we are very supportive of the owners so always ba k here. Food was always good so no dramas there.

Living in the area and thought we would check it out for a Sunday lunch. The place was so full. Parking at the back and on the streets were all taken. We had to park across the road.

We ordered CKT, Chicken Laksa and Dry Spicy Pan Mee. The food was delicious and the serving portion was generous. However, they were not as authentic as other places. The chicken laksa broth was too thick and had too much coconut milk in it. It also could be spicier. The CKT was a tad too salty and the hor fun was too wide. It looked more like fried beef hor fun type noodles. The spicy pan mee was the most authentic but it was a tad too oily and spicy.

We might check out their main course dishes next time.

Located on Victoria St, Doncaster east behind the Doncaster hotel and pub, Kitchen Malaysia has an open plan layout with plenty of windows to allow natural light to bring out the bright white decor,

Staff are friendly and seat you promptly, and are quick to assist.

Dishes are above average with favourites such as char kway yeow, seafood laksa, and hot plate tofu being stand out dishes. The seafood laksa has plenty of clams, and other seafood and a flavoursome soup.

The menu is extensive comprising street food hawker style dishes as well as restaurant dishes.

Fish head vermicelli noodles were the worst I’ve ever had! The fish pieces were all over fried and inedible. The soup was also bland. Advised the staff of this and their only response was that all the fish was like this according to the chef. Didn’t offer a remake or refund. Appalling standards and customer service - don’t bother coming here.

Went there on the night there is two empty tables next to the window which my daughter wants to sit next to the window(there are only two group of customers in the restaurant), but the waitress said it all reserved( which is all empty during my stay in the restaurant about 40mins) ordered “famous” fish head noodle soup, it was shocked, it’s so greasy, it looks like they put some boiling oil on top of it before they bring out, I even want to vomit after having that, strongly not recommended this place

Delicious food, especially its original Fish Head Noodle soup, is the best in town! You can't go wrong with it!
We reckon the big plate of dry Fish Head Noodle with Spring Onion is the second best in the restaurant! 👍🏼

There is still room to improve for the customer service area, though. If this is improved, then customers will feel better atmosphere in the restaurant. 🙏🏼

We went to this restaurant on a Monday night for dinner and was surprised that it was so busy. We ordered the 'king vegetable', which was tasty. The claypot ginger chicken didn't have any ginger taste. The dish had curry was OK. The tofu egg dish was a bit confusing as it looked like a cold dish, but it was not. Noticed a lot of people ordering the curry fish head curry noodle, and the fish head noodles soup. Recommended to make a booking for meals. Plenty of parking in the rear of the restaurant.

Really nice setting and unsuspecting as Kitchen Malaysia looks like a normal house renovated to be a restaurant.

One of the biggest reasons coming here was to get the fish head curry. But unfortunately they do not serve it Friday-Sunday for some reason, very disappointing.

We ended up ordering three dishes, the chicken and beef rangdang laksa and the Nasi lemak. These were some generous portion sizes but typical for Malaysian cuisine.

The laksa broth was one of the most flavoursome I've had, lots of depth and slightly spicy, 3/10 level. However the beef was a bit tough, not as fall apart as I would have liked. The chicken was just shredded roast chicken I assume, not a thigh piece like I would have liked.

The Nasi lemak was okay... it wasn't served with coconut rice which it usually is. Nothing special to write home about 3/5.

Overall it's a nice place to eat but the food is average at best.

Reasonably priced rice+dishes quick eats. The curry chicken is highly recommended.

This is a very popular, busy, Malaysian restaurant in Doncaster with a wide selection of hawker style dishes and others to have with rice. The food is very tasty. Service is very quick, efficient and friendly. We tried the Assam fish, Fish balls with vermicelli and Pork belly with Yam amongst other dishes. All were delicious. Would recommend booking during busy times.

Even though the food is good the staff were extremely unfriendly, there were two Asian ladies at the front,one with short hair and the other with long hair. Both were extremely rude.

Baba Chef is a very good Malaysian / Chinese restaurant. It’s a small restaurant but thankfully it’s open till 10 pm. So you can go at the off peak periods. We had the fish curry which was an Indian style curry. The fish was well fried and the curry was thick and luscious. I loved it. We also had the Cereal Prawns which was beautifully crunchy. The cereal was so well fried, I just had to have it on my rice. Their Sambal Kangkong is actually the fermented bean version with fried shrimps. Very tasty. The dishes are huge! Incidentally, I thought it was “Peranakan” cuisine, but it turns out not to be, despite the word “Baba”. Those who know about Peranakan cuisine will know what I’m talking about. The word is actually more like “Papa”, which is fine as it is a Chinese restaurant. This definitely rates a “Must Come Back” from me. Next time, I’ll try their other signature dish - the handmade fish balls and fish cake. The only thing is parking is not great during Peak Period, and you have to watch your step outside the restaurant because of a small step just outside the door.

Stumble on this restaurant when craving for Malaysian in the area.
Wonderful tasting beef curry with roti. Meat was soft, curry was seasoned well. Chow kuei teow was also very nice.
Prices was very reasonable.
Will definitely come back.
Just would like the menu to have a drinks list.

Drop by Sunday evening for takeaway and the place was fully booked for the evening. People where coming and unfortunately for them, not getting a table. Speaking with the restaurant manager, he said need to make a booking a week in advance.

The watan horfun had heaps of wokhey.. highly recommended.

We have made a booking for next week and looking forward to trying claypot curry fish head and eggplant mince meat.

Pretty authentic Malaysian food. Prices are reasonable , portions nice and flavours are good

Well, definitely a place worth visiting. Book in advance as this place is busy. Excellent customer service even though the restaurant is so busy.
We had
- Chicken chop salted eggs
- Stinky beans with minced meat
- Pork with salted fish claypot
- Cereal prawns
- Fish ball with vermicelli.
Everything was very good, in terms of flavor and portion, very reasonably priced too.
Fish ball soup was a bit too salty but the fish balls were amazing! The kids loved it.

Plenty of dishes on the menu, will be back to try others.

Everything was yummilicious! My favourites were assam steamed barramundi and salted egg chicken chop. We also tried sambal kangkung, fried garlic beef fillet, handmade fish ball seaweed egg soup, sweet and sour pork, baba free range chicken, garlic stir fry prawn veggies, fish cakes and tofu.

Very decent price! Check them out. I can assure you that you will not be disappointed!

If I wanted to give them an overall score inclusive of value for money, behavior towards customers, and food quality, it would have been 2.5 out of 5 at the highest.

We’ve been going to this place regularly in the last two weeks. I luv the authentic cantonese and Malaysian flavours! All the dishes we’ve tried so far are decent sized portion and offer amazing quality. Highly recommended - I really hope the level of standard remains in the long term!

My favourite take-out at Westfield Doncaster. Staff are extremely lovely and remembered me after not having seen them for well over two years. I recommend the chili chicken with vegetable noodles! Black bean beef and honey and lemon chicken are also favourites of mine.

Hair-like Vegetable Puzzle
Waitress at the counter may need some patient, asked for a large meal, while looking at which dish to choose, in less than 5 seconds, the waitress angrily asked me" are you ready or not?"🙄
Then ordered a large meal with lemon chicken and tariyaki chicken. A piece of dark colour curly hair-like "vegetable" stick on the lemon chicken.
Asked the waitress to change for it, the angry waitress at the counter insisted it is vegetable, and when I asked what kind of veggie is so hair-like, she cannot explain,but refuse to change it for me.
Then the owner came out and finally allow me to change for another dish.😭

Food court Asian. Quickly prepared, tasty food. I like their Chicken Laksa, very generous serve, lots of noodles, Hokkien & Vermicelli, some Tofu, bean shoots, lots of chicken, in a tasty, mildly spiced broth. I put extra chilli oil in mine to zing it up a bit more. Would have liked some more Tofu in there, not just 1 piece and maybe some other vegies, broccoli, Bok Choy etc.

Really quick take away Asian. Fried rice was good and very fresh. Basic but good for what it was. Honey chicken was also very fresh and good. Standard food court Asian. Recommend.

Great place to eat at while in Doncaster Westfield. Tasty food. The beef in black bean sauce was excellent, as there was a right amount of sauce and the beef was moist. The sweet and sour pork had lots of flavour, but the pork was dry. There could have been more fried rice for a large size. I couldn't fault the noodles. The restaurant offered free sauce's.

Seating was very hard to obtain. There is parking at the centre which is free for the first three hours.
