Be really careful when you eat here !!!! Not only was i an amazing customer for 10+ years i recently found out they've been charging me extra money for every order!!!!!!!

A really great patio with a nice view of the ocean. Service was fast and food came out quickly. Would definitely recommend if looking for a spot with a view or a nice rooftop patio.
The good: Great location, right by the water, parks, and shops. Plenty of Mediterranean options to choose from, but we went the classic gyro. The pita was soft, the gyro meat was flavorful, and it was loaded with sauce and feta. Service was friendly and attentive.
The not-so-good: Expensive, but that's also the area in general. Portion sizes were a little on the smaller side. They didn't have lamb for the gyro meat, so we went with beef.

The food was fresh and presented well, however, I was genuinely impressed by the lack of flavor in the lamb bowl. Samosas tasted okay, but again needed a bit more flavor. Some more spices need to be incorporated before I come back.
We ate inside because it was threatening rain. Still had an ocean view. Such friendly, efficient service. And the food was delicious.
The Kebab shop truly impressed us! Johnny, Brandon, Raheem, and Walter were exceptional hosts, and the food's freshness and flavor were outstanding. We're looking forward to coming back.
I drive 30 minutes just to go to this location. The customer service is always amazing and food portions are normal. I’ve been to there where the portions are for a child.
The best fast food by far! It provides great fast and healthy options. Today I got a mixed bowl with super greens and saffron rice, with falafel and grilled chicken. So many toppings and great sauces

Cava has great food but the store is very inefficient. It takes really long to get food every single time. There have been times when I have waited in line for almost 45 minutes to get food. The situation is the same even when I order online for pick up. They never stick to the estimated time. I always have to wait longer than what I was estimated. Also, the tables are never clean. The food is good, but it would be amazing if service was better.
Johnny is the guy! He’s so nice and helped us with what to order. Food was incredible, great value.
We had a catering from this place for our small home party, and the food was FANTASTIC. Meat skewers are so tender that melt in your moth. And I don't recall myself eating rice (!) and potato(!) with such an excitement. Not a single complaint, everything is perfect. Also, placing an order was a great experience itself. Thank you!
The food was tasty. The customer service was a bit less than average in my opinion. Especially for new people. A simple how are you doing or a quick explanation or suggestion on what to get would have been nice. Lose the attitude. I went theee today, around 11am.
Always amazing food and fast service. They have a lot of healthy options and the flavor is great! Salmon crispy bowl is my favorite.
I come to this place on a regular basis maybe 3-4 times a week and I love eating at this specific location! They were short staffed for a good whole month before but they are staffed up now so the line is moving pretty quick! Also the manager there is always on top of stuff even when it gets hectic! His name is Freddie and he is very friendly and communicative! Definitely recommend this place!:)
Ordered kebab with fries and with only little salad and got more than half salad , cold chicken, no fries. I don’t know why they have a menu if they give anything what THEY want. The woman at the checkout doesn’t seem to understand order correctly. Wasted money.
This is my first time in San Diego and wanted to try a Mediterranean resturant as an alternative to Mexican and sea food options.
I think it exceeded my expectations and I really liked the meat. However, the brown rice was poorly cooked and was oily. I did not like the samosa as well.

update: beef kebab is too dry for another visit so I guess the quality is not always consistent. Pita bread, hummus and lamb shank are still great. Something new is the sea gull walkng outside waiting for food. beautiful!

The only complaint is that the mock tail are too strong in sweet, sour and mint flavor but it could be a personal taste thing. Will definitely go again!

For some reason, I always have a terrible experience at this particular Cava. When I dined in, they were out of a lot of regular toppings & the store wasnt busy/hardly a line. It was even a weekday. Today, I ordered delivery and it took nearly 2 hrs - I live about 8min away. The driver (who had already been waiting 30min) sent me a picture of the store, and there seem to be only a couple customers in-store at the time. The workers were still "working on the order". I dont know if its poor management or understaffing but I just cant wrap my head around the food taking over an hour to "make".
UPDATE: Finally got our food - missing 2 items - wasnt even on the receipt on their end. Asked for sauce on the side but was dumped into both the bowl & burrito - SO MUCH SAUCE that the food was soggy.

I love cava and eat it almost once every week. However, today when I ordered food from this location the falafel was extremely salty. I couldn't eat more than one that too made me nauseous. This has never happened before and it put a damper on my evening today. I called them to complain but nobody received the call.
Stopped in and picked up lunch before heading to the beach. Got a falafel bowl with added hummus. My toddler and I thought it was great! Wish we had a place like this locally. Thank you!
Whether it’s for a quick lunch or an easy takeout dinner, Cava offers healthy and tasty bowls and pitas. Today I chose a vegetarian mixed greens and grain bowl with falafel, and it was delicious! So many choices for toppings and sauces, and a good amount of food for a reasonable price.
The chicken bowl tasted like sugar less lemonade . We had to go to the indian restaurant at the side to satisfy our hunger . We had chicken wrap which had no salt ,was stuffed with lettuce and we had to search to find chicken pieces. Fries were disaster with no sauce served . Had to go to the counter to ask for salt which was placed to the right of counter. This place was a disappointment but I think they will be healthy choice for the diabetics and hypertension. Ps serve tap water at least with the meals the adjacent restaurants do so
This was a nice little spot. The grilled meatballs were soooooo juicy. The place was clean and the atmosphere was chill. I will come back before my vacation is over for sure. The prices are good too.
I came to Marketplace Grille today for the first time since 2019 and was so happy that it was still the amazing food I remembered. I told my co-worker that outside of my Mom’s home cooked food, this is easily top 3 Mediterranean restaurants in San Diego. I highly recommend the chicken plate or bowl. They cook the chicken kabob on coals, and it’s phenomenal. I would get the herb rice, and always get the side of hummus with the pita bread. It is amazing hummus. Owners and servers are nice, they’ve owned it forever. Great location, very quiet, lots of outdoor tables. This has quickly become my favorite lunch spot in La Jolla.
I went here the last weekend of January 2023 with my boo and best friend. We were looking to have a midday snack after a hike along the pier. We all like Mediterranean food, so we drove to Olive and Basil. It was unseasonably cold outside. I was grateful that our server allowed us to sit inside because I would not have been able to hang out on their outdoor patio for long. I'm vegan and truly appreciate when vegan items are clearly marked on a menu, as was the case here! There were at least 5 viable vegan options. I went with the Vegetable-Med Plate (which sounds basic) but was actually very satisfying. The vegetable were seasoned and grilled perfectly. The hummus was thick and smooth, exactly the way I like it. Also, our server, who's name slips my mind, was well suited for his role. He was so kind, considerate, and pleasant. Nice place to grab a snack!
I ordered takeout so I can't really comment on the atmosphere very much. It did take a while to get my food done, but service was professional. Also, there's the TV entertainment 😄 In general, the food was quite good. I especially liked the calamari fritti for its well-combined crispy, tangy, and salty-savory flavors. The tacos were decent but a little small and overpriced for my liking. The fish and meat combinations did taste good though. The nachos had enticing colors representing the Mexican flag- green, red, and white, but the texture was a little too thick for my liking.
The staff was friendly and there is a good variety of meal choices. If your looking for a quick bite, that isn't fast food, this is a good place to stop.

We visited at a time when there was a lull in customers. The cashier was standing around between customers, providing an opportunity to clean up. They did not appear to be short staffed.
The meal we ordered was served fresh and hot. The portions served were big, enough to share if your looking for a small bite to eat. The food was good, but not very flavorful.
We would consider dining here again to see if the cleanliness improved.

Good spot to grab a bite. We were seated upstairs so we had a nice view. Our server Vinny was great! He was always around when we needed him & he had a wonderful attitude. We had the calamari & the Spanish shrimp pasta dish. Great flavor, plenty of large shrimp & the veggies on top were nice. We also wanted to try the Baklava cheesecake that our waiter suggested & my goodness, it was everything!! I also think the prices for the dishes were reasonable. If you ever find yourself in La Jolla, you should def stop by!
Loved it, great place for quick bite or dinner. We came for a lunch and it wasn’t very busy, it was rather cloudy day so probably not many people were going to the beach and it was not overcrowded and no waiting time. The views are amazing, it was quite cold but we sat outside and had heated lamps which made pretty comfortable. Open face gyros tasted great, large portions and very fresh. Service was great too. Definitely nice place to stop by. Since I am working in the area, will definitely be back again.
Delicious food and good stop for a quick lunch! Service was good and food came out quick. The ingredients were all clearly very fresh. The food was well seasoned and flavorful, and all the sauces were good. There’s several vegetarian options on the menu. Portions were large, but I’d definitely come back again.
Mixed experience. The food was delicious, but a tad pricey and lacking. The service was really great. They brought lots of complimentary pita bread and hummus upon request. The chicken wrap didn’t have a lot of flavor and came with a hair. The salmon bowl didn’t have enough salmon. It was mostly rice and parsley, a bit too much parsley. The corn on the cob was burnt. The chicken plates are probably your best bet, although you’ll be left wanting more chicken too. Overall, the funny and kind employees make it a more pleasant experience than not.
