First visit and we stopped at this restaurant and had pizza for lunch as a part of our tour. And I'm sorry to say it was the worst pizza I've had since I've been in Naples. More than half of it went straight into the trash mainly dough. Also had very few and poor quality ingredients. The service was slow and not friendly at all I waved at the waiter to get his attention and he growled he is not sleeping.
The eating options at Vesuvius are limited but I would recommend bringing a sandwich from somewhere else, rather than eating here. No menu in English, toilets are dirty. The have a charge of 2€ per person but don’t tell you about it. There are benches to sit around and the views are spectacular.

Good food. Fast service. Nice atmosphere. Stopped here as part of a tour to Mt. Vesuvus. Food was better than the tour to Amalfi.
Our Pompeii and Mt.Vesuvius tour included lunch and this was where they took us to. The restaurant has a great view of the Gulf of Naples. There are people sitting outside the restaurant to take in the view.
We had a fried appetizer that looked like an arancini first, then a Neapolatin pizza, followed by an almond tart/cake. Food was ok. The pizza could have been cooked a little bit longer.

Una bella cena con amici, location rustica, personale gentile e professionale. Le pietanze sono state di ottima qualità e abbondanti. Prezzi nella norma, lo consiglio sicuramente ci ritorno.
Wow! We visited as part of a day trip where there was wine tasting and light lunch included. Well... Never have my expectations been so so surpassed! The "light lunch" was a feast and do beautifully presented, all with big smiles, plus we tasted FIVE different wines with zero pressure to buy! (Although if I could I would have bought the sparkly red!) Highly highly recommend, and I only wish I could go back!
Awesome pizza. If you have stop in Ercolano, this place is recommended. It's take away type, because there is nowhere to sit, but there's no problém to také pizza to nearby sebe.

We went on a Friday night and there was live music. The food was delicious, especially the peppered mussels, fried cod casserole and desserts. The staff were very warm and welcoming. Reasonably priced too. One of the nicest meals we enjoyed in Naples!

The worst pizza of my life. The Mental gymnastics needed to use the oldest dusty dough from the cellar. And some old supermarkt bought tomato can. Then make ik it look like vesuvius it self and call it a real italian napoli pizza is absurd.

We found this place on our way up to Vesuvio, and to be honest, we were not sure if there were more restaurants, so we took it. But I must say it worked fine. The food was nice, the staff was friendly, the car park was very convenient and the view was amazing. Prices are ok for the offer. Naturally it is not the best restaurant in the world but considering the location it is very good, so if you go that way go for it and you will not be desaponted. The place is very big so most likely you can always get a table. Totally recommended
If you want to taste great pizza visit Luna Caprese in Ercolano very close to train station and Vesuvio Express stop. We loved that place owned by family where 3 generations were working to create and service the best pizza! Crispy dough and tasty toppings. Just observing how this small restaurant operates was an amazing experience.
Cira, tommasina, mariangela, Francesca were very friendly and attentive. The food and the atmosphere was perfect. Had an ocean view while dining, the dessert was delicious and a great way to end the meal but the service was superb and really made the whole dining experience so much better

The service here is excellent and the food was amazing. I had their house special pizza and enjoyed every single bite. A perfect espresso at the end sealed the deal for a memorable lunch in Ercolano!

Avoid this place - tourist trap. Firstly, says 'pizzeria' all over the exterior. When we sat down, and waited a long time for our table to be cleared from previous guests and to receive a menu, we were told there are no pizzas available (we should have left then really). Mediocre pasta dishes, no atmosphere whatsoever, unfriendly service; but the real issue is that we were pressured into ordered 'some mozzarella', on top of our two pasta dishes (we assumed the waiter meant 'do you want cheese ON your pasta). Before our mains came out, we were presented with two plates and fried mozzarella. We weren't sure if they were on the house, or we'd be billed; anyway after receiving the bill, we saw these little bits of fried cheese were €18 EACH. I think our waiter knew EXACTLY what he was doing - and purposely wasn't clear about a) what he was serving us, and b) how much it cost.
Note, I have no doubt the owner will respond to this and dispute it, but I mean, just read the other reviews and judge for yourselves.

The food was great and full portions. The insalata caprese was huge. The views of Napoli were spectacular. Loved it.
Really good for a non Italian speaker like myself. Pint of beer was €7, yes, but the free snacks were an excellent selection and so for 2 this worked out great value. Fantastic staff too and the views are unbelievable!
Best. Pizza. Ever. I’d leave 6 stars if I could. Vincenzo and son? as well as possibly the wives(?) make pizza exactly as it should be done. My wife and other guests agree it’s the best pizza we’ve ever had. The Quattro formaggio was melt in your mouth delicious with a crispy Napoli style crust baked in a real pizza oven. I had seafood spaghetti that was loaded with clams and other tasty seafood. Another person in our part had a pizza with sardines and olives (I didn’t try that one). Great place and entertaining staff.
We absolutely loved our fried calamari and mozzarella appetizers! Definitely recommend! We were a little less enthused with our pasta. The sauce was very good but the noodles were a tad undercooked for what we like. Our main server was very helpful and friendly but the other man who would bring things to the table and such seemed annoyed that we even came into the restaurant. The view was amazing and the res itself was very pretty! I would still stop here if you’re going up or down the mountain.
What a find! Recommended by a local and we were so pleased. Pizzas were superb and was genuinely surprised as to how good the seafood was (mussels were possibly some of the best I have ever had).

Even if the space looks like from the 1980s, the pizza was really excellent ( I had Diavola). Nice lady who took the order and pizza was ready in less than 10-12 minutes. I paid 10e for pizza, water, and espresso, so it's a really good deal.

Allora... Sono andato a visitare gli Scavi di Ercolano e avevo voglia di mangiarmi na pizza qui vicino. Ho cercato su internet e ho visto questa pizzeria che mi suggeriva nei dintorni che aveva anche delle ottime recensioni e mi ci sono subito fiondato a provare una margherita, come faccio solitamente.
Che dire? Ragazzi... pizza buonissima! Fantastica sotto tutti i punti di vista, ottimi gli ingredienti, ottima la cottura e il personale l'ho trovato davvero gentile e cordiale. In pratica per pochi euro mi sono mangiato questa pizza sopra le scalinate del posto e vi dico che mi è sembrato di stare letteralmente dentro un presepe.

Marvelous pizza! Perfect crust in a wood fired oven. I had the Diavola (spicy salame) and it was the best pizza I've ever eaten! So happy we stopped into this unassuming gem!

Great small take-away pizzeria located outside of the touristic part of Ercolano but definitely worth of the extra few steps - great pizzas (both the classics and the new ones for us such as pizza fritta), super-friendly staff, doing always more than you expect, and nice local atmosphere all around you while you are waiting with a cold beer and talking to locals for your order being prepared. We all loved it there, enjoyed all the meals and look forward to come back one day.
We got pizza twice from here, staff was really friendly and welcoming, also pizza didn't take long to be prepared (~10 minutes). my girlfriend was feeling sick, I got pizza for her, after eating she felt just like new.

Great restaurant close to Erculano, we came here with my family after a web suggestion, and we were not let down. Good overall, you can't go wrong with pizza. My only are for improvement would be the inclusion of alternatives doughs. Since I believe it could benefit the restaurant to broaden its options.
One of the best meals we’ve had since being in Italy. For the price the quality was excellent. Arancini was amazing and there was lots for a vegetarian to eat. Grazie!

Sono anni che da food blogger visito le cosiddette "pizzerie" ma quando ti imbatti in una location come La Taverna tutte le altre friggitorie scompaiono... non avevo mai assaggiato un calzone fritto così per non parlare della pizza Margherita...ma il top è la cordialità dei gestori, tutti, che rendono questo luogo magico e fermo nel tempo mentre intorno tutto scorre.

Beautiful restaurant and great food! The view is unbelievable
I piatti non sono un granché, la cucina non è certo il loro forte. Abbiamo preso gnocchi allo scoglio e spaghetti alle cozze e davvero nulla di veramente buono. Molto conditi ma poco saporiti, nullo il legame tra il condimento e la pasta. Almeno, costavano poco. La frittura all'italiana era discreta. il servizio è gentile, ma lento. La pizza, che abbiamo soltanto visto nei piatti altrui, sembrava davvero buona, molto tradizionale e rustica. Ci tornerò per assaggiarla perché lo scenario è splendido, rustico, semplice e gradevole.

Great food, Cheap Tasty and very kind owner
We were looking for a place to enjoy a drink and rest our feet after walking up Vesuvius. This place was great. We only had red wine (generous pour), but the pizzas and salads looked great!
Pizza Margherita was delicious ! For 7 euros it is a reasonable price. This restaurant is a rare pearl to find. Many local people eat here and so that says a lot about this place…Great service !

My wife and I were a little confused at first. If we wanted to eat pizza we had to sit outside, but if we wanted anything else we needed to sit inside - difficult when one person wants pizza and the other doesn't! We opted for pizza, so sat outside. The pizza menu was unfortunately only in Italian, no English versions. So I played it safe and ordered a Marinara (which was excellent), my wife took a guess and ended up with some weird fish covered pizza with big chunks of raw, unripe tomato (not impressed!). We also were served by about 5 members of staff - all appeared to have different duties, which was again very confusing. Some staff spoke absolutely no English, which is fine, but at a tourist destination I'd expect a little better communication. On the whole though, my pizza was very very tasty, the wine was excellent, great view as well. I can't remember if it was expensive or not.

Typical neapolitan pizzeria, flexible person as we ask for a pizza for two and they directly said yes. Pizza was good. Tiramisu was tasty. Food price is ok, but the service is 2€ per person wich is significant for ercolano 25% of the bill.

Great friendly staff. The pizza was amazing and large. Great value for 7 euro. They had many other great menu items. Over 50 years in business past down with generations recommended by other locals. Truly feel this is non tourist restaurant and one that is enjoyed by locals.
Excellent fish we could chose from a selection, taste is amazing. Wish they gave us the whole fish instead cutting it into filets. A lot of waste unfortunately.

Servizio rapido e cortesia contraddistinguono questo locale. Pietanze abbondanti, ben servite e ancora meglio per quanto concerne il sapore. Parcheggio piccolo

My husband and I were checking out restaurants for a large dinner 40 -50 people and we stopped here after visiting Mt Vesuvio. The Margherita pizza cooked to perfection, the chefs Tiramisu was 💯 the best, a light sweet dessert. Our waiter, Victor was professional, kind and bilingual so he introduced us to the owner and we were able to discuss plans for the upcoming event. Bathrooms are clean, Covid restrictions are checked for green pass or CDC card required for eating inside.
We had a few drinks here on our way to and from Herculaneum. Friendly patrons. No complaints and no hidden costs on the bill.

Excellent meal and particular praise to Toni the maître d' who looked after us so well and acted as an excellent guide with the menu. The fish was delicious, perfect mozzarella for the starter and the t-bone steaks were perfectly cooked. Recommended without hesitation. pasto eccellente!

If you want to retain your sanity and have something resembling a romantic dinner you should get a table in the garden or just find some other place.
The lighting inside was atrocious. The acoustics inside was atrocious. The overall atmosphere inside was atrocious.
The food wasn't bad except for the canned mushrooms used on the pizza. It would be better to serve the pizza without any mushrooms at all in my book. But the other dishes were adequate to good.
The service was pretty bad but I'm starting to get the feeling that it's just the Italian way.
The view from the garden is amazing and the only reason I would recommend anyone going here would be for this.

Not for tourists! Extremely rude service. We went in for lunch around 1:30 on a Sunday, while the balcony was about a third full of people eating an array of food when we sat down they waited was rude and said we can only order pizza. When we asked why, he just aggressively turned the menu to the pages with pizzas. So we assumed that they had stopped serving other food, but that wasnt the case as other customers were being served appetizers and a variety of food. We ended up leaving after NOT being acknowledged for 15 min.

Excellent food, friendly and very competent service. We were the only ones here for lunch, which surprised and worried me. Apparently, it's a weekend hit with the locals. But fortunately for us, they're open all week.

Really nice staff, great food and the location is perfect after a trip to the vulcano.

Nice atmosphere and service. Order turned out quite big and would have helped if waiter had warned us. Also asked for half antipasti to be vegetarian but was mostly sea food. Again was nice place and would go again but flat bad of all the wastage
We had an early lunch and the pizza were Very tasty. An Italian family had a lunch with lobster and pasta which locked wonderful and they seemed to like it a lot, taking pictures of the food...

Great local restaurant w very reasonable prices (8eur for pasta) given the patio is extremely nice. The manager was extremely friendly given I was a tourist, and very happy to try to help me learn Italian. I ordered a capricciosa pizza for takeout, with mushrooms and ham, it was excellent, and made to order. A local woman was there getting 6 pizzas to go, so I took that as a very good sign about their quality.
It is near the station Circumvesuviana.The food and wine are delicious. Pretty high prices. Friendly and helpful staff. There was a cover charge plus service 3€.
Excellent Italian restaurant. We had the gnocchi, pasta Siciliana, pasta pomodoro and a steak dish. All EXCELLENT. Great place to go after visiting Herculaneum. One of the best tiramisu I have ever had. House red wine was good too. We will be back.
Despite the difficulty in language, us being Australian, the Staff were extremely helpful and courteous, the service was quite fast and the location simply delightful. We arrived around 7pm and although they only open at 8, the made us welcome and we enjoyed drinks in the outdoor area watching the sun set over Naples. Visited several times during our stay. Very enjoyable. Thank you all.
