I’m really disappointed. I paid over $50 and received stale garlic naan, burnt regular naan, sour butter chicken and chicken tikka masala.
On our date night, my boyfriend and I had a delicious supper at Vaanga Boston. It exceeded expectations in every way, from the friendly greeting to the creative cuisine. The lamb pepper fry and scallop ceviche were particularly good. The evening's ambiance and service added great value.
The service was excellent in this restaurant by the owner. The owner greets very gently and talks warmly throughout your stay at the restaurant. The food was not as good. For chole bhature, the bhature were not hollow from inside but had Maida stuffed, which is maybe I don't like and others prefer. The rasmalai were not good, they tasted as if they were frozen and then thawed. Also, the Paneer 65, which the owner mentioned was a "special dish", was just paneer sauted with spices and some vegetables, served with rice. Overall the hospitality was awesome but the food not that good, if you have eaten Indian food from a long time, then you might like it.
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Vaanga Boston last month. From the welcoming atmosphere to the innovative cuisine, everything about the experience was memorable. The flavors of this place were authentically captured in each dish. Loved food and service.
Giving them 1 star solely because their hours are wrong on every single website. I have had three separate instances where I order food, show up to the restaurant and they’re closed. Why? This is super confusing to customers. This is Boston, a lot of people walk and take public transport to get places so it’s not like I conveniently came in a car to come here. It sucks because their food is decent but they’re so unreliable that you have zero idea if you can actually retrieve your order upon arrival.
Favorite Indian food in the area. They are always on point. When we go eat in person, they are SO FAST and have the dishes out in no time; we never wait for refills or have to search for a server to get the check.
Their takeout and delivery is great too, always arrives hot and packaged well. Sometimes the chicken can be a bit dry, but I imagine that’s because it continues to cook as it sits in the warm curry sauce.

I was optimistic to try this restaurant based on others reviews. However, I am very disappointed. I ordered through door dash and first they forgot my mango lassi and didn’t put utensils in the bag. I ordered butter chicken and as you can tell from the photo that is not butter chicken and looks like throw up and taste terrible. The pakoras and samosas were very dry, chewy and inedible. The nan bread was the worse nan bread I have eaten in my entire life. How do you mess that up?.. the only thing that was decent was the rice and the chutneys… very disappointed ☹️
For a restaurant that had a significant North Indian staff, the quality and taste of North Indian veg dishes was below average. I’ve been to this place a few times and it was average. However most recent visit in late Sept was below average. Would recommend only if you are looking for easy access to Indian food in Kenmore area. Probably rate at 2.5
Excellent authentic Indian food...tell them to reduce color and spices...order chicken Tikka grill, keema and paratha, and chicken jalfrezi...great service...hygienic clean
Service was unbelievable, very friendly! First time here and will definitely be back. The Mo Mo vegetable dumplings were incredible! The Channa Saagwala was so good as well…so much flavor. Can’t wait to try more dishes.
My all-time favorite restaurant in Boston!! The food is SCRUMPTIOUS, well-priced, and the atmosphere is legendary... I always loved listening/watching the Bollywood music videos playing in the background :") My partner and I always order the Chana masala, mataar paneer, and onion naan with either veggie pakora or samosas! Can't wait to come back for more soon!

Poori masala was also nice in taste. I really hated samosa wrap. It was like samosa chat in a wrap. They were very generous in putting curd into that wrap which made it soggy. and didn't taste well.
For drinks we had filter coffee and mango lassi, both drinks were amazing.
It is a self-service restaurant. Must visit this place if you are in Downtown Boston. I will definitely visit this place. The quantity of food makes the money spent worthwhile.

The masala dosa was amazing!! The dahi puri and paneer kathi roll w/masala fries were really good too. We got the vada pav as well but it wasn't that great. Overall, a decent place with good variety on the menu. I will say you can't go wrong with any of the south Indian dishes.

The food was so-so. Everything was steeply priced. Had ordered rice, chole and gulab jamun and food was very average. It’s not value for money.
The food was very good and tasty. Had ordered rice with kadai paneer and it was well made and tasty. The restaurant was bustling with people, so guess it speaks for that. The prices were very reasonable.
This place was delicious! They were very accommodating and attentive to my dairy allergy. I don't have cross contamination issues, so I was able to enjoy some of their street food (pani purri and samosa). My companions had their biryani and said it was top notch! Definitely recommend.

Nice and clean Indian restaurant! We went with a group of friends and had a great time. The staff is friendly and the service is quick. I really liked the food. As you can see in the photos we ordered a nice variety. Everything was delicious.
I normally avoid giving bad reviews but having dinner here was so bad that I couldn't stop myself.

Got the masala dosa and kaara dosa. Masala dosa was huge, accompanied with coconut chutney and sambhar. Chutneys with sambhar and masala dosa tasted well, kaara dosa very spicy, recommended for spicy food lovers ONLY.
We got idly later on, nice and fluffy, like how my amma and appa would make it back home. Filter kaapi was well balanced.

This is definitely a cute and cozy Indian restaurant in Tremont street. Delicious food and all ingredients are fresh and you can really get the fragnance of the fresh spices . This is only one of our fav Indian restaurant in Boston. I highly recommend this place if you in Tremont street and would like to taste a good Indian food !!
I came here after taking my son to look at local colleges. We arrived here starving, and we left with our stomachs filled with joy! The food here is truly authentic Indian food. I will be coming here again the next time I visit the Boston area!
The food was delicious. Rice was fluffy and light. Onion Bhaji was a bit bland, but with the three complimentary chutney that were sweet and spicy, it made it delicious. The behel puri was sweet, the chicken channa masala was spicy and savory, rice helped balance, and when all mixed together, they complimented so well. They did not hold back on the garlic for the garlic naan which made it flavorful and complimented everything together. With our bellies stuffed and satisfied, the price was also beyond reasonable. Will definitely be coming back for the food and the service was great as well. Everyone being friendly from when we walked in and out.
Amazing Taste and the spiciness is exactly Ike what you’ll get in India and the biryani is just really good. Good place to grab a bite when you get a craving of food from India 🔥🔥🥂🥂

I ordered their Balti Gosht, Laccha paratha and garlic naan. All the items were spot on. The meat was tender with the right blend of spices. The paratha and garlic naan were soft.
I also ordered their Chai and Kheer. Chai was a disaster and I would not recommend anybody trying their Chai. Keer was way too sweet.
Service is good but I couldn't understand the waiter, she is expressionless.

Just tried the chicken biryani. The biryani has raw onions, overly spiced, and tastes bad. It also gave me food poisoning. The insides of the restaurant is also very untidy.
I always do take out at this place and the food is really good I can’t say anything against it. However, today I went there to just have my wife use the restroom( thought it would be fine since I’m a recurring customer ) but we got sent away. The lady said it’s only for dining clients and I said I would order online ( as I always do ) but she didn’t want to let us use the restroom anyway. I’m never going to purchase from this place again.
What can I say? This place is excellent it’s awesome. Food is delicious came here. I was on vacation from New Jersey and end it woke up my taste buds that’s how good this food is. I lick everything clean. I may just order some more tomorrow night.
It is a nice Indian restaurant in the Downtown of Boston. Service is good. Food is delicious. Need to to change internal ambiance. Busy every time. Coconut Bondam (Thai) are also available. I recommend the Mirchi Bajji.

Food quantity & quality was good. Ordered Goat Rogan Josh & Garlic Naan (well done). Some of the Goat pieces was little chewy but other wise it was tasty & spicy as per my need. Mostly I don’t eat rice but when opened that brown box it was so fresh couldn’t resist to stop eating. I was expecting complementary dishes on side like pickle, papad or sweet which I had seen other restaurant do provide. Overall it was good experience.

The idli is well made and soft. Recommend the podi idli and chicken chettinad. Very good chicken biriyani too. The filter coffee and tea are machine made and very good. Recently Vaanga has had a $2 increase on all food items and it has self service so you pick up food to take to your table and clear out once you are done
I ordered the butter chicken for take-out. It was really tasty and flavorful and I will recommend getting it. I was however disappointed with the briyani that came with it as the briyani was quite hard. Will be back to try other items on the menu.

The food here is absolutely delicious. We got the butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, garlic naan, and more. I highly recommend this place and would come back! The only con is the service here. They would not check in on us and we would have to constantly try to get the waiter to come to us to refill waters, get us the check, etc.
They need a lot of improvement, I think. Went there for dinner with my friend on a Sunday night. We ordered Manchow soup, veg and non-veg, to start and 2 chicken biryani. We were told that they're about to close in sometime, so couldn't have much time to decide on our orders. (we had entered restaurant at around 9:15 pm). Got our Biryanis before the appetizers since they didn't have idea if soup was served to us or not. However, the server was humble enough to admit the mistake. Sorry to say, but the food was way far from the expectations. Don't want to say much about it. Adding photos for reference. Very less likely to visit there again.
Paneer Do pyaza is really good! They give good amount of quantity in the gravy and in rice as well, I complete my 2 meals from here through their single serving! Great Indian food away from home, but order medium spicy (even for Indians)
The food here is AMAZING. So colourful, so tasty, and super spicy. The service was quite fast considering and the food was honestly some of the best Northwest I have ever had. The Chicken tandoori was fresh, and lasting with flavor. there are tons of seasonings, fresh herbs and flavours inside food which is really healthy and delicious at the same time. so I was able to get a great balance of spicy, savoury of meat, and freshness of vegetables.
The second my group and I walked in, we were kindly greeted, and immediately shown to a table. The staff was nothing but kind and very attentive, which was appreciated for how much we ordered. Everything came out quick, which was really cool to see because they were quite busy for takeout. The food was awesome, temperature was perfect. We got the Butter Chicken, Garlic naan, and Chicken Tikka Masala. Everything was delicious. Great food, affordable prices, great staff. Looking forward to trying more food from here, most definitely recommending to my peers. Thank you so much!!

Wish I can give them 0 stars. I recently ordered takeout from this Indian restaurant, and unfortunately, my experience was terrible. Despite explicitly mentioning my allergy, the restaurant completely disregarded my request and put an overwhelming amount of cilantro in my food.
The fact that they didn't take my allergy seriously is not only unprofessional but also dangerous. I had an allergic reaction and had to throw away the food. This was a huge waste of money, time, and effort.
Overall, my experience with this Indian restaurant was extremely disappointing and unpleasant. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, especially if you have food allergies.

Went a few times pre-covid, the food was mediocre then. Now as you can see the food is barely edible. The masala (spoces,marinade) was barely even cooked. These were lamb chops btw. No crust raw taste.
This is my favorite Indian food restaurant in Boston!! Staff is always SO friendly and accommodating. Food is delicious and reasonably priced. The restaurant itself is usually never crowded because a lot of people order delivery. Perfect place to sit down for a warm meal during those cold Boston winters ❄️

For mains, we got a paneer tikka masala and a bhindi masala and asked for both extra spicy, with a garlic naan, onion kulcha and cheese naan on the side. Both curries were really flavorful (neither were very spicy but that’s ok) without being excessively heavy or rich or oily. I’d highly recommend the bhindi - I thought it was excellent. The PTM was as it should be: nothing to complain about here. Naans were soft and tasty.

Ok, from the photos you will see that we had an OK experience while having Lunch on Feb 1st. They had some mechanical issue and the heat was out. Instead of telling us that, they sat us down. Then brought in a space heater. Yes, that thing did not keep us warm at all and we had to ask them to add another one, crank those things high etc etc.
Food was decent, wait staff was great, but it was just freaking cold in there!!
I forgot my credit card and the wait staff actually came out in the cold to hand me as we walked out. So, thank you for that, but I am sure if the place was warm, the experience would have been different.
Let’s come to food though. It was OK, nothing extra ordinary in taste. Reasonably priced though.

I’m very surprise about the rating. Food is delicious enough. Few points tho: take advantage of your popularity as one of the Indian restaurants around. People come in to eat, put them in front so passerby see the customers. Why you have dark back side? Clean up the bathroom and upgrade the interior. Waitresses are nice. Quick service
Disappointed!! Service was poor, dirty utensils & water glasses. and food lacked flavor. I don't feel bad leaving a one star because there was no customer service or ambiance at this place. Tandoori fish is 100% waste of money it was tasteless no salt at all (boiled tilapia) with some masala on top. 1 star maybe for the half cooked naans and samosa chat. Won't be returning.
We came in at 6pm. The staff assistant us in selecting stuff. We ordered the mango lassi, veggie Biryani, Chicken Chettinad and Papadum. The Mango tasted like a smoothie. It was delicious and sweet. The Veggie Biryani was packed with spices and seasoning. The Chicken Chettinad was so flavorful and spicy. We used naan bread to dip the sauce. The Papadum was okay with the two dips that was included. Definitely worth a shot
My saag paneer and roti bread were surprisingly delicious. I think they are baking on-premise because my bread did have a couple of burnt spots. My boyfriend’s aloo mutter was very good but he said the mango lassi left a bit to be desired. Both entrées kicked up the spiciness level and came out of the kitchen piping hot. There doesn’t appear to be a bathroom available for guests (at least not without going through the kitchen). Setting that aside, we’ll definitely be back.
Cozy and busy. The restaurant had an offer $52 dinner for two if it’s meat and $45 if it’s vegetarian. We went for the meat options. The menu was endless with lots of choices between curry , grill , and Biryanis. Our starters were lentils soup and meat samosas with spicy sauce and tamarind sauce, loved the sauces. However the lentil soup lacked the flavor and need to be thicker. We had two carry the chicken butter an d lamb roush Rogan, the lamb dish was bland but the butter chicken had a good test to it. The mixed grill was dry specially the chicken and came with white rice. The set menu came with a dessert however none of the staff care to serve and they were busy chatting to each other even though the costumers cleared and only one table left other than ours. Service were slow and it’s hard to ask for a mango chutney as we had to ask three waiters till we had it.
the food here ruined my Boston experience. The curry was watery, as a cook here’s an advice: caramelise the onions before making a paste, it lets the water in the onion evaporated. The onion weren’t cooked at all. I shouldn’t start on the biryani, it’s everything other than biryani, what are 100s of half fried onions doing in the biryani ? The rice doesn’t have a consistent flavour. Another advice: take it off the menu.
The search for good Indian food in Boston is frustrating and almost futile. However, Vaisakhi was a pleasant surprise. Tucked away in an unassuming venue, this place offers authentic Indian food for a very reasonable price. The dishes were delicious and flavorful, and the service was good. I highly recommend this place for dine-in or take-out. Thank you, I will be coming back!
Great Indian place. Distinctly geared towards the college crowd, so the food is plentiful for the price, but most importantly, it tastes great. The Chicken Jhalfrezi has the perfect amount of spice, and the vegetable samosa was piping hot and fresh.
Mela should be an option for those who don't know Indian food well. They gave salad on a plate of oil dripping samosas and chutneys also on the same plate. Making the samosa difficult to hold. The lemonade for$ 4 was just water and lemon. I would not recommend this restaurant. They had more staff/servers than people coming in probably more for online orders. I asked them to make my lemonade without ice and sugar and they could not understand it at once. Came twice to my seat to ask what I meant? The photo is good because I click good photos.
As someone whose never tasted Indian food before, I can say that this was the place where my love for it began. The taste was something special with a beautiful blend of spice and texture that melts in your mouth. The bread was warm and soft and I used it to dip everything in.

Beautiful restaurant interior. Excellent Indian food and pistachio shake. My favorite dishes are the lamb entrées, especially the lamb vindaloo. Staff will replenish plain rice for free if you ask, but it was hard to get a hold of server. Service was not attentive. One time, several months ago, a customer at the table next to mine (a large group) chastised the server for not checking on them during the meal or refilling the water glasses. I've been coming to this restaurant for more than 10 years, but service has noticeably lapsed since 2020. Food is still delicious, but please improve the service.

Great spot located in the south end on Tremont St. I haven't been to many Indian restaurants so I didn't have any expectations walking in. But I'm really glad my girlfriend suggested this place. The food was delicious and service was great. Liked having the table next to the window to have a view of the neighborhood while eating delicious food.
The food was really disappointing. We had visited this place a few times before the pandemic and the food was really good every time. This time it was almost disgusting. We ordered aloo tikki and what we were served wasn't aloo tikki. You can see in the picture that it was a chickpea flour fritter at the best.
Then the kofta curry that we ordered did not have koftas ... Guess what the koftas were? The same chickpea flour fritter!! There was Soo much food coloring aswell.
Overall the experience was pathetic and we would never go back.
Then the kofta curry that we ordered did not have koftas ... Guess what the koftas were? The same chickpea flour fritter!! There was Soo much food coloring aswell.
