Ordered friedrice through PickMe foods for a vegetarian Indian guest. There was a fly in side the rice. Terrible incident. PickMe refunded the cost but the damage done can not regain.
It's a vegetarian restaurant with an excellent variety of food. The place is spacious, clean and the staff is courteous.

The taste of the food like it was in the earlier times 2016-18 is no longer there.
Randomly found this place on TikTok and decided to give it a try. It was a bit crowded when we arrived, so we had to wait about 5 minutes for a table, but it was definitely worth it. We ordered butter naan, masala chicken, and chili chicken biryani – the food was absolutely delicious!
Best Indian food I have ever tried. The butter paneer melted in my mouth 🫠 My only problem is that I discovered this place my last day in Colombo 😓 Hughly recommended, staff was lovely, the place is nice and prices very reasonable. Highly recommended.

Came to Mango tree after about 5 - 6 years. I think the old glory days has gone.
Food is great. But it’s not worth the price we pay compared to the ambiance and the experience we get.
One Cheese Naan at 1000 LKR is definitely not worth.
Service is quick.

Bought 2 parcels of rice today…
One chicken biriyani and one lamprais parcel.

The rice in the chicken biriyani was so dry, what’s worse, the green sambol included had gone bad.
Despite me returning this parcel to the shop, they refused to accept it and refused to even consider it.

If this is the kind of service they provide, then what’s the point of the reputation of this hotel?
How can one trust and eat anything that they serve?

I was told that their food was really delicious, so I got a chicken kottu for takeout. But when we opened the box, there was no chicken in sight, not even a single piece. There was only vegetables, nothing else at all. Thinking that I spent nearly 1000 just to eat a vegetable kottu, very dissapointing. We called them to inform, they did inquire about it but that was all, no compensation nothing.

Excellent prawn biryani! The gravy and raita complemented well with their flavorful biryani 😋 definitely worth the experience because of their customer service. Only issue was the unavailability of most of the desserts on their menu which sounded really yummy
We really enjoyed the visitation in this vegetarian restaurant. Friendly staff, super veggie food and good price. Thanks

Madras Masala offers a delightful culinary experience with its authentic South Indian cuisine. Situated conveniently on Galle road on the inside lane, Wellawatta, the restaurant boasts a simple parking space, making it easily accessible for diners. The ambiance is enhanced by nice lighting, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere.
As for the food, Madras Masala impresses with its flavorful dishes that capture the essence of traditional South Indian flavors.

We ordered tandoori chicken biriyani on my friend's birthday through the Uber Eats app. This is his birthday party.
We chose to break our fast at this restaurant based on numerous recommendations, but it turned out to be one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had in Colombo. The staff showed an open disregard for service, with one particularly unfriendly individual informing us that our order would take an hour despite our pre-booking. It took nearly 40 minutes and multiple requests just to receive a simple glass of hot water.

Despite the very few crowd, the restaurant claimed to be overwhelmed, insisting on an hour-long wait. The food itself was poor, with fried items visibly contaminated with black specks from reused oil, resulting in a lack of flavor and warmth. Their chicken porridge resembled more of a chicken-flavored dhal curry, and even the presentation of their falooda lacked the finesse expected, served methodically mixed in a small glass rather than in distinct layers.

Witnessing another dissatisfied customer airing their grievances to a staff member further validated our disappointment. Regrettably, I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone.

To the management: Please take note of these concerns and strive for improvement, as the current state of activities resembles something out of Gordon Ramsay's "24 Hours to Hell and Back" restaurant transformation.

Yesterday, my colleagues and I visited Indian Summer for Iftar, recalling a previous delightful experience during last Ramadan. Despite our anticipation spurred by the advertised Iftar menu, our visit quickly soured. While we appreciated the complimentary dates, water, and kanji, the experience took a disappointing turn. The waiter’s attempt to upsell items not included in the Iftar menu was off-putting, compounded by the lengthy wait for our food. Furthermore, we were informed of the absence of labaan. When the food finally arrived, it failed to meet expectations.
The paneer curry had one micro piece of paneer. The naan was one plain naan which they conveniently failed to mention when advertising the Iftar menu. The prawn 65 was overly salty and seemed fried in stale oil. Additionally, the jeera rice was undercooked, accompanied by oily and salty battered potato and brinjal slices. The faluda was excessively sweet, and the gaajar ka halwa tasted peculiar.
I don’t know what their deal is but if they want to lure in customers for Iftar then they need to provide good food or not have an Iftar menu at all because these are customers who have not eaten for 13 hours. The staff acted like they didn’t even want us there. Such a horrible experience.
Indian summer restaurant is one of the best Indian restaurants in town. It serves both veg and non veg dishes. The food is good. They had a nice atmosphere and the service was also good. Prices are average and value for money. Will surely visit this place again and try new different dishes.
Taste absolutely amazing.

The spices are amazing. We ordered Chiken tikka Biriyani, BBQ Biriyani & Tandoori Chiken Biriyani. Every biriyani is the same except for the chiken peice. We got minchi sambol, Some kind of gravy & a green pea curry kind a thing. All taste amazing and spicy. Enjoyed every bit of the meal. Highly recommend.

1st floor is rushed and hot and we needed somewhere calm so we went to 2nd floor and it's A/C. They charge extra for second floor but it's more clam and cool place. Place was somewhat cleaned and we didn't have anything to complain.

Great food! Prices are on the higher side

We tried butter chicken, tandoori naans and mutton biriyani, all the dishes tasted great. Service can be imroved
The butter and garlic naan were a highlight, paired with a decent Chicken Tikka Masala. Chicken Fried Rice was tasty. Food is prepared quickly, excellent customer service, and good vibes. Overall, a positive dining experience.
Delicious meal, went the rice with 5 different curries. Delicious, fresh and well priced.

I stopped in for dinner on Dec 30th with my wife and two adult daughters, it was completely unplanned, we just happened to be in the area. We ordered a Paneer Tikka and I liked it but others didn’t care for it. My daughters shared a Mutton Biryani and Mixed Raita and they didn’t like it. My wife and I ordered Butter chicken, Mutton Roganjosh, some plain/butter Naan and rice. I really liked the Naan and Butter Chicken. The Butter Chicken was not like I’m used to having in the USA, it was better. However, the Mutton Roganjosh was just OK and didn’t have too much Mutton in it.

We also had a Mango Lassi, a Faluda and Fruit Salad and all of them were good.

I don’t think I’ll be coming back to this restaurant for a while because the food was OK, it wasn’t something that I would crave to come back here for.

Visited this place for dinner after searching for Indian food. The reviews were good and so was the food. While nobody can match Indian golgappes, it became a memory as it was the first thing I ate in Sri Lanka.

Kadhai Paneer and Naans were amazing. People were praising their Non-Veg too alongwith those wooden interiors!!
It was an okay experience. Waiters should attend outside seating area diners also, We had to go and tell them after multiple attempts to catch their attention just to order something to eat. I saw a typical Sri Lankan village vibe with the waiters they care only about the people who come with big vehicles and talk poshly.
The food was good.
Atmosphere okay.
Once in a while, some can visit this but for me, one was enough. Thank you.
Went on a Saturday night for a light dinner and got their chicken fried rice and chicken 65. The fried rice was mid but the chicken 65 was good. They had a nice atmosphere and the service was also good. They also had live music on that day and we really enjoyed

You should try the vegetarian buffet they have on poya days! It was an absolute treat and the variety of dishes offered was impressive. Chutneys is definitely a great find for anyone who loves Indian cuisine.
This place is a must-visit for a satisfying vegetarian feast, and the flavors were spot-on. The service was excellent too.
One of the best Indian restaurants in town. Food is delicious, made with authentic Indian spices, probably by Indiana chefs, made to orders and served hot. Portions of the two curries we ordered were not great. Ordering via QR code is convinientl, but would've been better if the payment could also be made online (when making the order).

The restaurant has two main parts - one themed a highway and other inside a boat. While the designing is proper and nice, both the themes don't go with the variety of Indian food on offer. And the seating isn't comfortable and lacks space. Background music (during our stay) was also didn't match the feel and mood of the taste and aroma of the food.

There's no onsite parking, so you will have to be lucky to find space along the main road. Staff were efficient but needs more training on customer service (letting the customers feel welcomed and cared). Cleanliness and orderliness are commendable.

Overall it was great food served in a not so great setting/atmosphere.

(2023/12/05) Downgrading the rating to three stars based our recent experience. Non of the meat items were available, except chicken, which was disappointing and lost my interest in revisiting. The waiter had no justification (e.g. unavailability due to religious reasons, etc.) rather a simple response of not available today. Something to consider if you want to retain customers.
I ordered dum Biriyani chicken two positions and one faluda. Dum biriyani was not good at all. Waste of money . Faluda is ok with me. After I ate there Biriyani I have loss of appetite for Biriyani at all.but the service is quite good food is not good . I don’t recommend Biriyani at this place 🤮. They don’t serve water as well. Worst Biriyani experience in lifetime.14/11/2023

we went there for dinner and got more than suprised. The restaurant is located inside the cinnamon grand hotel, so what mean you have to walk through the hotel. The ambient is stunning, food and beverages more than delicious. Price performance very fair. Big thanks to „Ajith“ who lead us trough the menu and looked after us attentively. We will come back for sure.

"Chutney," From the moment I entered the cozy, well-decorated establishment, to the last sip of their incredibly delicious coffee, it was an evening to remember.

The attentive and friendly captain , Gayan, greeted us with a welcoming smile, and he provided excellent service throughout the evening. His knowledge of the menu and his recommendations were spot-on, adding to the overall dining experience.

"Chutney" surprised us with an incredibly delicious and aromatic cup of coffee. It was the perfect ending to our meal.

If you're a fan of Indian cuisine and appreciate a great cup of coffee, "Chutney" is a must-visit.

My recent dining experience at Agra Colombo was nothing short of exceptional. The restaurant beautifully encapsulates the flavors and authenticity of Indian cuisine. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a delightful ambiance that set the stage for a memorable meal.

The menu offered a diverse range of Indian dishes, and the flavors were outstanding. The spices were perfectly balanced, and the ingredients tasted fresh. I particularly enjoyed the butter chicken and garlic naan, which were incredibly flavorful and cooked to perfection.

The service was impeccable; the staff was knowledgeable and attentive, providing recommendations and ensuring that our dining experience was top-notch. The presentation of the dishes was also impressive, showing great attention to detail.

Agra Colombo is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates the rich and diverse flavors of Indian cuisine. Whether you’re a long-time fan of Indian food or new to it, the restaurant’s culinary expertise will leave you craving for more. I highly recommend it for a memorable dining experience.

A famous budget resturant near townhall, colombo. Recently I tried chicken and sea food chopsuey rice and Seafood Noodles. The noodle was delicious but the portion size was not satisfied.
The chopsuey rice is not recommended according to my taste....
Yet the atmosphere and the service is quite good.....
Pineapple butter chicken curry is delicious combined with naan varieties.
Acceptable delay in meal preparation.
Not a very satisfying customer service despite less busy lunch hour.
Overall experience is good.
The best place to dine in for authentic indian food lovers. Quite and calm place with less crowd. Staff is friendly and helpful. Butter naan, Chaan Masala and pistachio kulfi is the best. Chicken dum biriyani has a good portion and enough for two people. Masala tea is the worst we have ever tried. Not recommended it to anyone. Overall satisfied 🙂
Food and drinks are super delicious . Naan and curries are mouth watering and super filling. Biriyani is having plenty of chicken and has nice aroma . Their masala tea is one of the best i ever had . Service is super and they serve in 10-20 mins

Agra Indian Restaurant is a hidden gem in Colombo 07. It's an old-fashioned, cozy restaurant with ample space and a delightful seating arrangement. But what truly sets it apart is the incredible food.

The menu boasts classic Indian flavors that will tantalize your taste buds. The friendly staff only adds to the charm of this place. If you're lucky, you might even catch some classical Indian music on selected days, which enhances the overall experience.

Parking is ample and getting here is a breeze. I highly recommend Agra to anyone who loves a calm atmosphere and craves the authentic taste of classic Indian cuisine. It's a true culinary delight!

The quality was quite different from 3 years ago but the food was delicious and the service was good. The cheesy naan was so good, we ordered another. Only downside was there was a wedding taking place in the hotel right outside of the entrance to the restaurant and the music was unbearably loud and unfitting for the place.

The food was alright, but it didn't quite live up to my expectations for authentic Indian flavors.

On the plus side, the service was prompt and courteous. The theme of this restaurant represents the kerala. It's still worth a visit if you're in the mood for some basic Indian cuisine.
The food was heavenly. Chef's special mutton curry is highly recommended. Literally melts in your mouth. And the pistachio kulfi was definitely the highlight of our lunch.
The great food paired with friendly staff and good ambience made it a novel dining experience for us. It's halal certified so a great choice for Muslims.

Madras Masala restaurant is situated at Wellawatta, close to the main road. It’s an authentic Indian restaurant. I’ve been to this restaurant several times. Food was amazing and very delicious. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The restaurant had a decent seating area. The most important thing is the restaurant opening hours are different, 11:00 am to 03:00 pm and they close . Again opening at 07:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

They have lots of verities of food. Some foods are can be ordered only in the evening time. They have vegetarian options also. Madras Masala restaurant is very popular between the Indian crowd, lots of Indian people comes to this restaurant.

The prices are very reasonable and the food is very worth for the price. I highly recommend Madras Masala Restaurant for anyone who loves the authentic Indian foods. It’s a great restaurant to visit with your friends and family. 😍

We ordered a variety of foods n drinks, it took sometime to serve, maybe because it got a little too busy. Anyways the food was delicious, loved the fish we ordered. Prata and Biriyani was also delicious. The best of them all was the dessert Julab Jamun!!!!
Atmosphere is great.Service is very welcoming. Space is limited, but they have managed it nicely. Live music (guitar and flute) was there in the weekend which added more colours to the night. Prices are reasonable too. Another good thing is,the restaurant is open till midnight.

Busy place. Nice location Extensive menu. We loved the chicken biriyani Also loved the ghee rice. Good for take away as done in facilities are not recommended. Since it is a place where customers come a lot, cleanliness is essential. Cleanliness is minimal as far as I've seen, less cleaning of the chairs tables, and would be nice if the servers could do their duties more conscientiously.

It is important for hoteliers not only to look at revenue, but to follow cleanliness and proper guidelines.
Pure vegetarian restaurant. Friendly staffs treated us very pleasant. Here you can buy most of the vegetarian food items. Sweets are delicious. My favourite is Vadai especially Masal Vadai. They accept uber eats orders.

Absolutely below average food. Service takes ages and food taste below par. Surprised with the high ratings. Went for lunch, had basic 3 or 4 dishes and it took 2 hours. Place was empty with only 1table occupied. Food nowhere close to Indian.
Pure vegetarian restaurant in the vicinity of the Vajira Hindu Temple. A huge range of South Indian food - meals, beverages, tiffins, short eats and Indian sweets.
The interior looks super clean. Delivery on Uber available. Good quality food.

Went there for dine in. Superb food, everything was soo tasty and well served. But expensive items. And also i Went around 11:30am and went with my Canadian relatives. Bit disappointed, because everything was gloomy, all the setup was to work after evening hrs. Candles lights and pool setups. They felt the restaurant was gloomy and boring. If only they could light up at least during lunch hrs.
The food here is truly delicious. Portions are quite large and prices are slightly on the higher side. They even have a serve Thai menu. Have ample space for parking. Staff didn't look that friendly though. If they can be more attractive, that would be great.

I had dinner here on my birthday. First thing I noticed was the unwelcomeness from the staff. And it remained the same for the duration of the meal. The atmosphere is meh. Small place and very small washroom. The plus point was thst food was good. We ordered a dahi puri to my wifes recommendation and I think I somewhat came close to nirvana gaking that bite. First bite you feel the cold tangy yogurt, probably lassi spurt in to my mouth and it get completed with the out crispy shell and other stuff in it. It was well worth the price. We also ordered some chicken kebab which I loved as well. The rotti platter was a very good idea and we ate to our hearts content. I would love the flavours to a bit bold though.

It is genuinely one of our favourites places for wholesome Indian food …

Relocated to a new place post Covid - the restaurant is still super chill, with the yummiest butter chicken and butter naan …

No trip to Colombo is complete without a meal at Mangotree
This was my second visit to this place, I did so this time for the only reason that it was the only place where parking was available, All the other places had so many cars parked outside. The food this time was tasteless and insipid. The staff too was cold and indifferent, I happened to be the only customer and the reason was obvious. Very unfriendly and put off Place serving poor quality food sadly.

First meal in Sri Lanka!

We just arrived and decided to try this restaurant out. It was full of locals and no one spoke English....These are all the signs I look for when choosing food outside the United States.

Homeboy gives us 2 metal plates full of who knows what and 2 large buckets filled with God knows which. With an open mind we dove face first and realized Sri Lanka has amazing food. If this is the kind of food we are going to eat in this country I am so damn excited! Sorry but I can't describe anything we ate just but please look at the pictures. It's all very spicy so taste each sauce carefully first.

The best part was it all costs under 4USD!!! (Including 2 sodas)

PLEASE EAT HERE!!!!!
A normal food joint. If your are looking for a cosy place with good ambience, this is not the place.
OK place for a quick bite
Specially tamil cultural foods are available. Food taste is good. Overall cleanliness is quite low, but it's ok. Cash only, no card payments accepted.
