Favorite plant shop in the city! Nice place for beginners too. The owner of the shop is incredibly knowledgeable and open to sharing tips for how to nurture one’s plants.

I’ve picked up a few plants throughout the past year and each one is blooming beautifully. Couldn’t imagine a better place to buy plants for my abode.

They have everything!! Cavernous basement.

I was initially very impressed with this store, and I've purchased several plants here across multiple visits. However, on a recent visit I purchased 3 unique succulents from this store (2 pink variegated crassulas and a purple aloe). I had an extended conversation with the manager, who assured me these were natural color variations and didn't need any special care to maintain their appearance. 2 weeks after taking them home though, the pink color is gone completely and my aloe is a normal green. They're clearly dyeing the plants to mislead customers and charge an additional markup.

This is my favorite plant store in the city! The manager, Abdul, is the kindest and most knowledgeable when it comes to plants. I'll visit on occasion, and he'll talk plants with me and give me tips on plant care or what plants would work well in my living space. Just walking in brightens up my day!

The shop is beautifully arranged, welcoming, and well-stocked, That said, it was the staff member's (owner's?) expertise and approach that motivated me to write this review. Though the shop was busy, he spent time with us in a totally unrushed way, asking questions about our lighting and other conditions in everyday terms to help us find a plant that fit well. He spoke so knowledgeably and lovingly of his plants, it felt more like a pet adoption process than a simple monetary transaction (but not in an overbearing way). And when we asked a question he couldn't answer (the best kind of support for a plant at home), he offered that we return with a photo rather than trying to sell us something in the moment that we may not have needed. Wonderful shop and even more wonderful customer experience - highly recommend.

Huge collection of very diverse plants.. you're almost definitely going to find whatever you're looking for. Super helpful store owner/employee that had great tips on how to care for my plants :)

If you make the mistake of ordering a delivery from this place, PAY WITH PAYPAL. They are THIEVES and will attempt to ignore you when you contact them for wrong orders! PayPal stepped in immediately and escalated, it’s the only way I got my money back for their royally bad service.

Me and my partner had a wonderful experience here. Honey and Melvin were very accommodating and helped us find the perfect plants for our home. I did see some plants that looked like they needed a bit more help than others but with amount of plants to care for and the amount of staff, it’s understandable.

Overall they have a ton of healthy plants to choose from at a reasonable price. We will definitely be back once these babies settle in and continue to thrive. Thank You Urban Garden!

Pricey!

Staff seems somewhat dazed and unattentive. I had to eait for a staff person to finish texting to close out my purchase. There have been seversl instances in my visits where staffers have been less than reaponsive. I guess rather than supporting a local business again, I'll give up the $$$ to Etsy!

Poor driver quality! Dangerous driving! I pulled over on the side of the road, turned on the double flash in advance, and your driver honked wildly and smashed my car! I pulled over for 30 seconds, he scolded me for 28 seconds, threw a soda bottle at my friend and my car!

Went in to buy some soil and an extra plant and discovered the nicest and kindest store in all of Harlem. The man working there (I believe his name is Ahmed) was so unbelievably kind to us, he spent so much time explaining how to take care of different plans - not just the ones we bought now but also the ones we had at home. He even took one of his own basil plants and pruned it to show us up to what height to do it and then gave us the cuttings to make pesto!! Just the nicest person. Plus I found that everything was reasonably priced. Will definitely come back and so glad I discovered this place.

The space is really nice and prices pretty fair for the city and I wouldn't hesitate to buy things on site from them again since the quality is pretty good. I would avoid getting things shipped to you from them though, I purchased several bags of soil and I had to call 3 separate times to try and schedule a delivery and each time they kept telling me they would call me back with times and never did. After 2 weeks I called and asked to cancel the order, the person I spoke to didn't seem very pleased but told me the order was cancelled and I would get a refund ... 2 months later and still no refund and I'm out over $300 ... so be careful! I'm not sure if the deliveries are handled by a different team because the customer service at the actual store is great, everyone's always very friendly and helpful but the delivery experience has been pretty frustrating.

Great selection and great experience working with Ramona finding the right plants for me! She was patient, gave me tips for plant care, and even taught me how to repot on the spot! Will definitely be back!

Everyone went out of their way to help me find just the right gift for a friend. Very accommodating and couldn't have been nicer. I will definitely shop there again.

THEY ARE EXPENSIVE ON REALLY INEXPENSIVE HERBS!
I was in a rush and bought 6 stem of herbs to grow.
When I finally went home and looked at the receipt I realized that I was charged $48.
$48?!?! (look at picture)
you know how much more herbs I could have bought with $48
I called thinking that there was a mistake but it didn't and I cannot even return them.
Horrible Customers Service!
To URBAN GARDEN CENTER...
THAT WAS A ROBBERY. Everywhere else are 3$ each!
There were no price around that listed herbs prices.
Do not spend your money there!

The owner was so welcoming and quickly guided me to the plants which would fit my requirements the most. In addition to my plants, I was able to buy pots and a stand. They have everything you could need. Cannot recommend enough.

Amazing plant spot in the neighborhood!! The staff was really kind and helpful— the owner knows plants very well. They have plants of all sizes, including species that aren’t found in the other plant stores around the neighborhood. Their prices are comparable to/ slightly cheaper than nearby spots. They also have a hardware store a couple of blocks away in case you don’t find all the supplies you need in-site.

Love this plant store! The plants are so healthy and well cared for. There are a number of varieties available, ensuring there is something for you no matter your lifestyle or budget. The owner is extremely warm and will happily walk you through your options and care instructions. Lots of cute planters available as well as some tea sets and other knickknacks.

HIDDEN GEM!!! I have passed by this store several times and have been wanting to go in, but never had the time before today. I was searching for a plant for a good friend of mine and I also wanted to get a plant for myself. The owner, Sue, was so incredibly helpful! She pointed out several plants in my price range and found me the perfect gift (a gorgeous miniature red flower bush for my friend and a beautiful Guzmania for me!! I will definitely go back. It may be a small space, but it is filled with so many wonderful plants! Sue is also so extremely helpful! Highly recommend!! Thank you!!!

We stopped in to MyCityOasis to buy one Snake plant and left with two beautiful Snake plants and one Peace Lilly. Soo, who I believe is the owner, was incredibly helpful. She educated my fiance and I on how to care for the plants and how we might propagate the plants. The quality of the plants is high and the prices are very reasonable.

The Urban Garden Center has an excellent variety of plants and planters. They also have whatever you require for your planting needs-- like hanging planter rope, air plant holders, terrariums, compost!, standing terra-cotta plant holders, etc-- the list goes on!
They have appropriate price points for their plants too.
Even if you just want to take a nice walk through nature ( under the train station) in the city and see some beautiful greenery-- stop by and enjoy!
Oh and they have chickens!

I work in the Bloomberg building. As an artist who enjoys refurbishing old furniture and endless DIY projects I'm that lady who feels at home in hardware stores. I was in the store a few weeks ago needing a few clamp lights to use as grow lights for the 25+ plants I've acquired this year, thanks to Pantone nominating 'Greenery' as 2017's color of the year, I jumped on the bandwagon like everyone else who follows the slightest trend. 😅 I love my plants! I couldn't find anyone to help me locate the clamp lights or the proper LED bulbs to keep my plant babies alive as the seasons change. A few associates pointed to Electrical and I walked in circles until I found it on my own. Nothing new in the city! I happened to stop in on Sunday to peruse the plant aisle when I got off work and ran into Alice, your plant guru. Such a sweet lady! She approached and asked if I needed help, I really didn't but she had such an inviting nature I began telling her about my new Calathea and how I needed a bigger pot for it, I was buying a Purple Passion that I already had a pot for. She suggested a few amendments to add to the soil as I discussed some drainage issues I was having with a few other plants. It was lovely to be able to discuss plants with someone who knows how to care for them. I'm not a natural green thumb like her. I'm giving 4 stars, but she alone deserves 5! The men who sent me on a wild goose chase for clamp lights get 1 star deducted. People need help! Alice gave me a very pleasant experience. I will be sure to stop in and visit her again even though I buy most of my plants at a local nursery. Thank you Alice! I will continue shopping this store because she makes me want to come back! 😄
