Love this spot. Open fairly late for a week night, the pricing is fantastic, the view of the city is one of a kind. I parked below the park and got a discounted rate online. Recommend doing the same.

A unique experience compared to your classic ice skating rink as one is able to go in a lovely loop. There are uphills and downhills and the path is actually quite wide, so it never felt too crowded. They play pop songs from the 2010s while one skates.

HOWEVER, the quality of the ice is subpar at best. I found it to be scuffed up, slushy, and not well-maintained.

One can bring their own skates and pay $5 for a session or skate for free during the 11 AM session. Note that it is recommended to make reservations ahead of time as sometimes it can be quite busy.

Even with a reservation, one will still need to wait in a long line to check-in and receive their skates. We waited half an hour just to get on the ice!

There are two porto-potties for bathrooms, a small cafe, and no lockers for shoes, but the area is rather safe for no shoes to get stolen.

We went in the late evening and we reserved the 8-10pm time slot! There was no wait and we rented skates which was a very easy process. The ribbon is a super unique ice skating experience and we preferred this over a circle shaped rink! Would highly recommend doing this activity if you have the time!

We make sure to add ice skating at Maggie Daley to our winter bucket list every year. The ribbon is big enough to give you lots to look at for hours of fun.
When we went on Saturday afternoon it was pretty busy and full of beginners falling over and expert skaters zooming by. I would recommend coming during the week if you'd like a little more space and calm.

Always so fun to be skating In the city! We had so much fun. The ice is always In rough shape but there are hundreds of people skating on it daily so that’s understandable. The scenery as you go around is always beautiful. Love that setting for skating. Staff is helpful and registration is super easy online. And cmon $5 for admission. You can’t beat that!

Absolute best skate sharpening I’ve ever had. Had him do my skates for ice hockey and I’ve skated faster and easier the last 3 games then I have in a long time. Will definitely go back

The ice skating session doesn’t start until later on in the day. Went there at 9 Am expecting to start the day with a skating session at the beautiful park but was shocked that the first session doesn’t start until 11 am. Unfortunately had to skip the experience as I did not have any of that information in advance and instead just wasted my time.

Awesome experience. The ice had some weird spots so I feel like it could be resurfaced a little better. Otherwise it was a cool experience and I look forward to going again. Parking is a little difficult but.... it is Chicago so I guess I shouldn't expect much on that front.

Reservation required. Staff was courteous and accommodating when I tried 3 different pairs of skates to find the size that was comfortable for me.
Skating around the ribbon was a unique and fun experience. One part was just very very slightly downhill, and that made it fun to skate through :)
