The Lodhi Tomb
2024 Apr 05
An octagonal monument located close to the Kanch Mahal in Sikandra, Agra. Its construction is attributed to Sikander Lodi, the second ruler of the Lodi dynasty.
It sits on an octagonal platforms, with beautiful symmetrical arches on all sides.
The monument looks to be in ruins, but a lot of reconstruction work is going on.
I visited in December '23.
A well-maintained garden inside the Jallianwala Bagh complex, with well spaced out flowerbeds in full bloom with seasonal flowers in Dec 2023.
The flowers add a dash of colour to the green well-maintained lawns inside the complex. There are seating areas with benches, though sitting on the grass isn't allowed.
Central Sikh Museum
Located within the premises of The Golden Temple complex, this museum exhibits paintings, belongings, manuscripts coins and other artifacts that have contributed to the rich cultural ethos of the Sikh community.
It also houses paintings of prominent Sikhs who have contributed in different ways to India's growth.
One of the prominent items on display is the comb used by Guru Gobind Singh...
Some weapons in the form of bows and arrows, swords, guns and muskets are also on display.
Photography isn't permitted inside this museum.
Guru Arjan Singh compiled the Guru Granth Sahib and installed it in the Harmandir Sahab in 1604 AD. Ber Baba was the first 'Granthi', (the reciter of the Holy Book).
Budha (बुड्ढा), was a title assigned to him by Guru Nanak ji.
It is said that as a small boy, he had some interaction with Guruji about God and Guruji, very impressed by his seriousness gave him this title.
This sculpture also known as the 'Flame of Liberty's was designed by Shri Anoop Bartaria.
The reprehensible Jallianwala Bagh massacre of principally innocent Indians by a cowardly British Brigadier General fanned the flames of the Independence movement in the country.
Therefore this memorial is designed in the form of a flame, with the faces of more than 350 patriots who were martyred on the occasion.
In the middle of the sculpture nestles an eternal flame...
