Duomo di Milano

Beautiful Cathedral indeed. I had visited this alone 8 years back and wanted to take my spouse & friends to see this too. Hence, in our trip to Italy Milan was added basically to see this beautiful cathedral! Visiting during the day including going to the terrace was as expected. The views from the top are also very mesmerising. The stained glass work looks beautiful from inside. However, the magic was in the night. It looks just too gorgeous with all the lighting on the facade. Happy that we went there again in the night time!
Leaning Tower of Pisa

This is an iconic tower. The tilt is only 4 degree but very very visible. A must see when you are in the Tuscany region. We did a day trip from Florence. The journey to & fro was very comfortable in the train, we booked the tickets just 2 days in advance. Do book the tickets for going inside the tower in advance too. Yes, you can walk up the tower right to the top and treat yourself to some mesmerising views! You'll feel the tilt even while walking up, don't miss this experience!
Remember, they don't allow you to take anything inside, even big purses are not allowed. Avail the free locker facility to keep your belongings but you'll need to budget time for this.
The Cathedral here is also very beautiful, you can buy a combo ticket which includes this.
Uffizi Gallery
2023 Aug 29
Probably the best collection of art / paintings that we would have ever seen, each better than the other! It's worth visiting Florence just for Uffizi. When you read about them (or better use the audio guide) these paintings also help us get a perspective on the life and style, economy of people in the era in which they were painted.
Few tips for people visiting:
1. Book tickets in advance. Do take the audio guide, it'll give you the details, history and background of the paintings and make your trip exponentially pleasurable.
2. If you aren't an art lover then too budget atleast 5 hours as you'll become a lover when you are here.
3. Best to visit first thing in the morning, as they open. the crowds are a shade lesser than during mid day. Ideally go on a weekday.
4. Be prepared that it's going to be tiring, standing and moving slowly through the day, so wear the most comfortable footwear and dress.
5. Don't forget to carry your camera and water bottle. Don't need anything else as it becomes a liability, lugging it around the whole day.
In our past few trips we had not seen this so this time we did and am glad that we did. One this get's you a perspective on the history of the region and more importantly the views are spectacular. The ticket is Rs.250/- per person and there are 2 shows, one in English and the other in Hindi. There is enough space to accomodate guests so advance booking is not required. Pls note that there is enough parking available too. The parking is free but there is a 0.5 km walk from there. If you are in a taxi you can be dropped right at this place and car can then go in the parking.
