As a wine drinker, Wine Company was my first encounter with affordable wine in cozy restaurant setting, even before Wine Connection became popular. I recall visiting Wine Company at a previous locations at Dempsey and also at Sentosa Boardwalk. This is one place that I go to from time to time when I am here at Dempsey - for the more reasonably priced wine that’s good (even the wine by glass) and the local fare to go with the wines. The atmosphere here feels like a fine dining restaurant with the high ceiling, the airy environment, and mood lighting. One of my favourite dish here previously was the coffee pork ribs. I hope they will bring the dish back on the menu again.
It is an interesting experience trying two different Bak Chor Mee, or minced meat noodle, this stall and the one beside. Compared to the stall beside selling the same dish, the style here is more clean-cut and less savoury but still has that richness in flavour. There is no pork liver, but instead pork balls. Each had their own merits in my view and both are enjoyable.
After a few days of German food here, we were yearning for a change and delighted to chance upon a Japanese Izakaya - the perfect place that we were hoping to find here in Frankfurt. We arrived here at close to 9pm when the sun was setting and thankful that they allowed us in. The place was full when we arrived and fortunately a couple from a table were leaving. Being Japanese cuisine lovers ourselves, our verdict is that the food is really good - both quality and the value.
