This is a great spot, very close to the highway. One of BC’s many ‘rec’ sites meaning, no reservations and often no fees. Pit toilets are available, but that is it for amenities. Waitabit is probably better for smaller rigs, but there is a large open are to the left when you come in suitable for larger trailers. I’ll be back to Waitabit, a classic BC rec site!
We enjoyed our lunch at Amatista Cookhouse. Lots of big tables for large groups - the place seats 480+ people. The food was good and the prices were reasonable.
Looking for something that didn’t have a national chain feel and ended up at Pandera. The smoothies were good! Nice to sit on the patio in the sun and hear the kids scream on the Sea World rollercoaster.
An open access site with no amenities…just how I like to camp. There is a pit toilet on the left as you drive in, but it was locked (March 23rd). I stayed for a night at the first spot, at the end of the access road - enough room for a small vehicle. There are a few more spots further around the bend with a lot more room for turning around. I had a very quiet…until the magnificent birds woke up!
This is a beautiful place for a stop, lots of space to spread out, picnic, throw a disc around, work on your bike, etc. Access is either from above by coming down from the demo forest road just after the Hydraulic Creek bridge (~7km), or up from Fisherman’s Trail. No running water (except from nearby streams), but one of the cleanest outhouses I’ve ever seen. There is also a large covered area which is a great shelter from the elements.
