Croissants that are large and flaky with a good chew, but not as buttery as some. Same with all the pastries using the same laminated dough, such as the chocolatines. Not a bad thing, just a different variation. Apple turnovers have a decent filling to dough ratio, but no apple chunks. Prices pretty much in line with other quality boulangeries.
A decent shopping mall in the Isenburg neighbourhood of Frankfurt. Anchor stores include Peek & Cloppenburg, Zara, Rewe, and Aldi. Bus connections are right outside the door, making access by public transit that much easier. There are a number of appealing food options in the mall, if one feels peckish. If you have reason to be in the neighbourhood, this can be a pleasant way to part ways with a few of your hard earned euros.
A great upscale mall in Las Condes/Vitacura that features a number of anchor department stores; Falabella, Paris and Ripley as well as many of the international retail outlets we've all come to know. The beauty of this mall is its extensive dining and entertainment areas. All types of local and international F&B chains in an appealing indoor/outdoor setting. From McDo to Muu, you won't go hungry. Very easy to spend the better part of a day meandering around the sprawling concourses on various levels. Don't forget your credit card, though. No Walmarts in attendance.
After reading about this boulangerie on Google, I thought I'd give it a try, as I would be in the neighborhood. I bought some croissants, choclatines, viennoiseres and bread to share with my friends. Croissants had a great flaky crust and a buttery, doughy and chewy consistency. Not quite the flaky, buttery layers of dough that I usually get in Paris, but equally enjoyable in another sense. The choclatine dough had similar qualities, and it compared quite favorably to another of my favorite Montréal bakeries. I gave away all the rest, so I'll have to await feedback from the recipients. So far, I'm impressed and will likely be spoiling some more friends with treats in which they wouldn't otherwise indulge.
