went to have a festive meal, it was quite empty at 1pm, the service from the waitress was very good. the starter was OK, bread was nice, main was very good and the dessert was nice, the coffee was good as well.
The best service from Pratigya and her manager, there were times I was waiting for tea and replenishment for quite a while but other than that, the service was spot on. Unfortunately the food let them down, the sandwich fillings were nice but the bread were quite dry. The chocolate cake was very dense which I liked, the Victoria sponge was quite sweet which I didn't like, but that's personal preference. The pastries were overall not bad, the scones were good, the jam was way too sweet and strong taste so I believe they aren't homemade. They were very generous for the sandwiches and pastries replenishment which I really liked. If the food quality gets better I will definitely be back. My waitress even asked her manager to get a box of Masala tea for me to take home, she couldn't have done more! The ambience was also very nice!
I went there yesterday, was being assigned a table in the hall way, which you can see the hotel guests carry their suitcase walk pass you, so we asked to change to the middle dining area. Nice ambiance, quite busy, at one point it took 10 minutes to get my coffee. Sandwiches and scones were nice, I'd say the sandwiches quality are between Savoy and Dorchester, they are replenishable but pastries and scones are not, which they said they are at first. The takeaway bag doesn't have separate space so everything stuck together when I got home. Overall nice experience and will be happy to go again.
Sandwiches were really tasty apart the multigrain bun was a bit dry. Scones with jam and cream were pretty good. Service from Nadia was good. They provided a takeaway bag but not having separate spaces inside the bag or wrap things up, so everything became a mess by the time I got home, compared to Milestone or Berkeley which had them wrapped up properly, I feel Savoy can do better. When I called them and asked about the changing of sandwich, cucumber to jackfruit, they were really accommodating which was great, however, when I asked about replenishment, two people who picked up the phone (a lady and a gentleman) both said pastries, scones and sandwiches are all replenishable, but while I was there, Nadia said her manager told her pastries are Not replenishable and it will occur an extra charge, only sandwiches and scones are, it was a big let down, I feel being misled by that two people, I feel all the workers should have the same training in a posh hotel like that. To conclude, I would not be coming back as I feel there are better options to choose from within this price range.
We had afternoon tea there, the service, environment and food were all good, you can refill food as well, but they will only give one set of sandwiches and pastries for 2 people to share when asked for a refill. the teapot was leaking when I tried to pour more tea, so I think they should renew some of their teapots.
