North York Bike Trail
2022 Dec 07
While walking on this trail, watch out for speeding bikes.
This trail has a very high popularity among hikers, bikers, and nature lovers. Towards south, running along the Don River, it reaches Finch Avenue East and beyond. Along the way, one can sit on a bench near the river and enjoy sounds of nature. Northwards, it crosses North York Bike Trail, which runs east-west. At this point, a number of possibilities open up. You may walk in either direction on the bike trail, or continue northwards where, beyond Cummer Avenue, it merges with the Bestview Hiking Trails leading to Bestview Park. After crossing Cummer Avenue, a trail branches out towards east and goes up to Leslie Street. As you cross Leslie Street, you will find entrance to the Duncan Creek Trail, which ends at the Duncan Creek Park near Don Mills Road.
Following are two views of the North York Bike Trail near the point where it crosses the Upper Don Recreation Trail.
Duncan Creek Trail

Duncan Creek Recreation Trail offers a picturesque walk along the creek. The view of the pedestrian bridge from the trail is just wonderful. As some parts of the trail wind through residential areas, sometimes raccoons are seen wandering near it. Care must be taken in dealing with this mammal as it is known carriers of rabies virus.
