The Caboose Park is a tiny area with benches, shade trees, and a full-sized caboose right next to the Herndon Municipal Building. Calling it a park is a bit of a stretch, but it's still a cool spot. It's a great place to bring kids to let them climb around on the caboose and to eat your ice cream from the Dairy Queen across the street. I often see cyclists taking a rest here as the W&OD trail is adjacent to the park. Neat piece of history in downtown Herndon.
Beautiful area of the park with meandering trails through woods. The trails run adjacent to a small stream for much of their length. There are a number of species of plants in this area with ferns being chief among them. Several benches are strategically positioned throughout the valley to provide great views. Nice spot for a short walk.
Beautiful exhibition space for the arboretum's stunning bonsai collection. Each tree is more interesting than the last. Many have been undergoing their bonsai "training" for close to a century. It gets hot in the conservatory so try to go on a cool day and bring water.
