A nice set of walking trails in the shade, which can make a nice break during a trip to the generally wide open and sunny arboretum. However, not really a highlight of the arboretum.

Absolutely beautiful paths on a half mile wooded hike. My only complaint is that the tail is confusing -- lots of unmarked splits.

Small area of the National Arboretum with nature trails and a boardwalk leading through pristine native forest. See indigenous wildflowers and huge trees.

As of 2021 the majority of the trails are closed due to flooding. The gardens in this section are the least maintained in the arboretum.

My son and I had a wonderful walk through the trails. It was easy to become absorbed with the nature and forget that we were in the middle of a major city as we wandered around the native plants. A portion of the trail was closed due to storm damage, but the majority was opened and still well worth our time.

Beautiful area of the park with meandering trails through woods. The trails run adjacent to a small stream for much of their length. There are a number of species of plants in this area with ferns being chief among them. Several benches are strategically positioned throughout the valley to provide great views. Nice spot for a short walk.
