Uspenski Cathedral

Located on a short climb up the hill, this is a very interesting place to admire the Eastern Orthodox Church architecture from outside and inside. It was quite the experience to experience the grand exterior and interior of the cathedral.

No information boards if you're coming here alone, and the church interior is not all that big, but still okay to visit on your own.

Recommend the experience as entrance into the cathedral is free, unlike other more famous churches in Helsinki.
A museum showcasing the maritime history of Tallinn. It also has a cafe and an observation deck on its rooftop, given its interesting venue, which is a historical circular tower gate.

The view from the roof was not bad, and the exhibitions were informative, featuring a lot of ship models.

Worth a visit if you're a maritime fan or if you have the time. Entrance is free with Tallinn Card.
Suomenlinna

We visited in autumn, and this island makes for a good half to one day trip from Helsinki. There are many different museums here (you need to pay per entrance if you don't have the Helsinki card), but our personal favourite was the World War 2 submarine and war museums.

There are also historical buildings you can visit, and you can also get scenic views of the sea here. Everything is within Walkable distance, takes about an hour to two to walk non-stop from one end to the other end.

There are also different restaurants here for food if you want to try it out, but nothing caught our eye. We did try an ice cream stall that sold 1 cone for 4.50 euros. As this is a tourist spot, expect things here to be pricey if you're spending money, even the church charges an entrance fee. Otherwise you can also bring your own food and have a picnic here, the King's Gate is quite a good place to sit and chill.

Do check the weather before coming here though, as it was raining when we were here and that somewhat affected our experience as most of the places are unshelthered.

Overall an interesting attraction to visit with different activities. Highly recommended as a half to full day excursion from Helsinki. You can reach this place via a public ferry that departs every 20 minutes from the Market Square.
One of the eating places in Skansen, just beside the escalator at the left after the entrance. The menu only offers a limited amount of food choices. We tried the veal which was not too bad, and the place also gives free water, which was good. Place was relatively empty when we visited, and it's mostly self-service. Not too bad.
The Viking Museum

We visited this museum because we wanted to do something viking related. The museum itself is not too bad, but they can definitely present the information better without relying on too much text. However, the amusement ride at the end was quite a pleasant surprise to end off the visit. Place is not too big, you can cover it within 1 hour if you're efficient. If you want to have a teaser into viking history and culture, you can visit here. There's also free audio guides too if you want it.
