Lucky Cat
2024 May 15
We walked past Lucky Cat thinking it's closed but had to look closer to make sure it's opened.
The interior quite whimsical and welcoming. There was 1 big group and 2 other smaller party.. we were seated right away and we ordered a couple appertizers and the yuzu chicken ramen.
The gyoza, spicy marinate cucumber and ramen were all solid. The fried soft tofu with dashi soup need a little more work. The batter needs to be thinner and more that transparent texture than dough-like.
So I just picked on the tofu.
Overall, it was an enjoyable meal (except the tofu dish) Service was efficient and pleasant.
KOBA Korean BBQ

This is a korean healthy "fast-food". It looks very clean and spacious. We were greeted right away by a staff member and he offered us write-in menu or order from kiosk. And we chose ordering from kiosk and ordered 2 Koba Bowl (which is the build your own bowl). $20 is not cheap but it gave us a BIG bowl. You can check off a lot of sides to build your bowl (20+ items to choose from).
And it also gives you a choice of the korean probiotic dessert drink or other sweets as a treat.
I love the purple rice (the only warm item in my bowl) the salad was crisp and all the veg sides were tasty. For protein, I ordered beef bulgogi, very generous potion but a tad sweet to my taste. It's all.good after the big toss (like bibimbap)
It's tasty enough that I didn't even use my sauces.
Will def be back again.
Seven Dials

Easy to find and short walk from Convent Garden. We only tried the Manty (dumplings) and they were good. Ask for the chili oil if u can take heat. It tasted so good. We were there on weekday and at opening time and there was a rush. I can't imagine how busy this place is on weekends. Choice of food was good but this is on a smaller scale compared to Borough and Camden Market

It's a very elegent bldg def worth dropping by if in the area. Not many shops but there is the Fortnum & Mason
right in the middle of the bldg.
The best part of this Japanese grocery store (combini) is all the Japanese food options. There is a rice ball store, Gonbei, inside this grocery store. Basically anything you can think of....ramen, sushi, karaage bento, grilled salmon bento, grilled chicken, seaweed salad... so much to choose from. Need to be back more often.
