Katagiri Japanese Grocery

Cheap Japanese food in the city! I totally enjoyed. We had ramen and sushi and it was really good. We also bought Japanese goodies like chips, rice seasoning, nuts, rice crackers, spam musubi. So ramen and sushi for 2 was $45 while the goodies were $21. Definitely a good price in Manhattan. It seemed crowded during lunch time but the line was quick. We were also able to get a space at the "bar" for two.

Came here and grabbed a nice lunch - there was a it of wait at lunch hour. Loads of things to buy for authentic Japanese dishes. Took pics of the sore to see if you can find what you’re looking for on the shelves!

The grocery could be bigger, but a lot of variety. But, 2 restaurants and plentiful choices of ready made foods

A co-worker told me about this gem today while I was in the mailroom and I wasted no time walking over. As usual in midtown manhattan when you see a line outside the door of an eatery it’s a good sign.

Although it’s a tight squeeze getting in and out of this grocery store and lunch spot, the line moved quickly with something on the menu for everyone. Quick grab lunch rice balls with either fried oysters, Eel, pork, salmon, or shrimp tempura starting at $3bucks is nothing short of a miracle this side of town. Fresh sushi of every kind, bento boxes, sushi bowls and brown rice for those who prefer that option.

Everything is made fresh and at extremely affordable price points. I’ll be back for sure.

Wide variety of rice balls at the front including spam musubi. Everything seemed reasonably priced. We could see the workers preparing them fresh behind the counter. They were very busy at lunch time. We stopped to buy some tea drinks and also shopped for some snacks. The workers were helpful.

The best part of this Japanese grocery store (combini) is all the Japanese food options. There is a rice ball store, Gonbei, inside this grocery store. Basically anything you can think of....ramen, sushi, karaage bento, grilled salmon bento, grilled chicken, seaweed salad... so much to choose from. Need to be back more often.
