There is a reason gridlock was reported trying to get into Jim Thorpe, PA on Oct 28, 2023. The train ride during Fall leaf season is incredible popular. According to the people selling tickets after Saturday, they sold out the day within 90 minutes. The ticket window opened at 9 and by 10:30 or so they were sold out. During leaf season, it's a 45 minute ride leaving every 2 hours from 11 AM with the last train departing at 5 PM.

Outside of leaf season it's a 2 hour ride.

That staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable - outstanding, even. Highly recommended.
You can walk around the property for free, don't. Instead spend the five ($5} dollars per head and get a guided tour. You'll get so much more information in a fun and engaging way. It's worth every penny.
Lots of history. The trail isn't well maintained, so it's difficult to rate. There was a private tour in the house, so we could not view the inside.

A much better than average take-out only Chinese restaurant. The staff is very helpful, if you have questions about any of the menu items. Try their chicken hot n sour soup. The seafood soup was good too. The added broccoli to the "Hot spicy chicken" on request and didn't charge for it. I would have preferred out to be a bit hotter & spicier.
Mango Tree Bistro

Very good Thai restaurant with service to match. We had the Mango Tree Sampler, the Tom kah soup, Tom yum soup, the cabbage salad, the seafood special and house green tea I've cream. Everything was very well prepared. We ate outside on a cool and breezy evening and the food cooled quickly. That's one of the reasons for a 4-star rating. This is not a knock on the restaurant, it's an aspect of the meal that I can't fully evaluate.
