The Stayton Room

Unless you're staying at the hotel with the bar credit, I can't imagine going here. A coworker walked me back to the hotel and I did not feel like venturing back out to find dinner. I grabbed a seat at the bar and the server was not interested in engaging. Finally I found the little QR code for the menu and ordered a cocktail and quesadilla. I got the lychee martini which was very one dimensional, I would not recommend it and certainly not at $25 a pop. The chicken quesadilla came out piping hot but had no flavor, like none. I asked for the check and provided my credit card. There was an auto gratuity of 18% so the worst meal I've had in this city (in 9 months) came to $63+. Only after talking with a friendly couple was I told that if I put it on my room, then there is a credit. I'm not sure if that was true but I can safely say, neither of the items were worth the cost or calories.

We went on a busy Friday night and were able to get a table with minimal notice. The server was okay, had to ask another staff member to refill water and again where our cocktails were. Overall the food was great. The veal was fantastic, as was the burrata. The gnocchi had a perfect texture, just personally felt like the sauce needed a little more dimension. I think a veggie, pancetta, or something could complement the sharpness. The warm brownie at the end was the perfect capstone for a delicious meal.

Sat on their dog friendly patio with our small pup a few weekends back. The girl server was very on the ball, the guy was more laid back but his friendliness made up for it. The food and drinks were all very good. We had the Buffalo Mac and cheese with chicken to start and that was a full meal in itself! The house salad was hearty with the pecans and feta, I would do a different dressing next time. The penne was also very good, there were onions which we did not expect. Overall, everything was above average and we'd certainly go back in the area.

I've been in New York on travel. My husband brought our pup up for the week since I am staying in a dog friendly hotel. Trying to figure out living with a dog in Manhattan has been a learning experience. We walked the mile to this "dog run" to realize it isn't a park but more a small space for dogs to socialize off leash. This is primarily gravel/ dirt and stone with essentially no grass (a few patches of soil where trees are planted). It's fairly small compared to what we're used to in the suburbs but still gave her the chance to run around a little bit! I don't think I was worth the mile walk each way though, we will probably check out other options.
Came in this afternoon for an early dinner. Service was fantastic, our server offered good suggestions, fast and friendly service. We had a corn and cheese appetizer that was a bit odd, I was glad we ordered it but I would try a different starter next time. We ordered the half chicken which was juicy, hot, and fresh. The chicken fried rice was a good portion of flavorful rice. The trout was good, it was a large piece of fish; the rice and potato which came with needed more flavor or seasoning. Lastly the lamb shank, which the server recommended, was great (pictured). The meat fell off the bone, the sauce mixed well with the canary beans and balanced with the rice. Overall, everything was great but I would suggest checking your receipt for auto gratuity which was added on our table of 4.
