I've been coming here since I was a child. I fondly remember feeding the ducks with my grandfather. Apparently this enclave of the contiguous greater park area that consists of Caleb Smith State Park and Blydenburgh County Park (both of which anyone can access) is restricted to Smithtown residents with Smithtown parking permits. Even though I live around the corner, I'm on the "wrong side" of Townline Road, hence I'm an Islip resident and can't legally park there. I don't mind paying parking fees, but parks and green spaces should be accessible to all. Not restricted to residents of a particular town. The county should annex it and make it part of Blydenburgh.
I had a question about getting a permit for bringing certain medications which are restricted into the UAE, so I sent them an email. 2 days later they responded and told me to call Winnie, the health service attaché. She was super friendly and helpful over the phone and guided me through the process for applying for the permit. Excellent service I must say!
