Wonderful place to visit, see an amazing variety of fruits, and grab some food. Just be careful, the stand in the picture tried to charge me almost 500 real for less than a kilo of fruit I didn't ask for. They were very nice and gave us samples of many different fruits, but when I asked for 100G of strawberries and also of dates, they loaded me up with a Kilo of various things and tried to make me pay a massively inflated cost for them.
Amazing service, very kind people and awesome food
Well preserved infrastructure and facade. Yet outside area is VERY sketchy, to not say dangerous. Once inside you are greeted by a myriad of stalls and shops, sellers will try you to get their sandwiches which are a must there. Prices are definitely on the higher side, definitely NOT a place if you’re looking to eat cheap. Do however wander around and stroll, some places give free samples. Amazing selection of cheeses and preserved foods.
I like the public market! It has good prices and lots to choose from
Nice market with lots of meat, cheese and fruits.. everyone told us we should try the mortadella, it’s good but completely different to italian Mortadella
Interesting to see. But really just the same 5 or 6 type stores over n over. All the caged animals interesting to see
Very dangerous and a lot of people only watching your belongings !

I went a restaurant and I tried a mozzarella baguette and was delicious but it was very big and I didn’t finish it.
An incredible experience to visit - the traders were friendly, the prices are fair, and the food is delicious. It's also a great place to hang out, especially on the first floor overlooking the market aisles.
I heard it is recommended to be careful of putting your phone in your back pocket but we had a great time. Many things to see and buy here, and great food. It’s better to bring a person who speaks Portuguese to help you navigate, but it can be fun even without. Keep an eye out for cash only signs, though most places take cards.
Found all vegan items I was told to buy
It's pretty disorganized, but the food and the place itself is pretty good
Awesome place to visit. Lots of cold cuts, cheese, bacalhau, fruits and much more goodies to buy. Huge sandwiches, pastéis and several other dishes. Worthwhile to visit. While visiting we stopped by Hocca Bar and had some yummy food and drinks.
Loved the market. Hated the puppy mill and live pet aspect of it.
Everything under one roof. Amazing!
Great local market with fresh veggies, meat, seafood, wine, products; needs for every chef.
A local market with local food to taste. Very delicious.
A cool place and exceptionally clean for a market. But a super clean place.
Enjoyed the tastes of the various fruits. An immersive experience for your taste buds yummy 😋
Fresh products, great prices.
Definitely worth exploring.
Cheese, meats, desserts, chickens, and magic potions, this mercado has it all. Safe and clean, not to be missed!
Lots of places to eat and shop. Nice architecture.

Gosto muito da loja e do atendimento
Good variety, good prices. Excellent quality products.
I love going here there is so mich to see so many differwnt optioms of what to buy. You coild spend a whole day walking around just to see everything
Really crowded. I couldn't walk around there.
Mercado Central it is like... another dimension... A magical place surrounded of vivid colors, unmistakable smells... hundreds of people dribble the congested and tight hallways. Looking for the best deal, from thousands of stores that side-by-side compete for your hard earned money. The Mercado Central is a complex fusion of races, ages, dialects, culture, and flavors... What ever you want, you will find it, even if you don't need you will get it. More then just a market, it is a life experience, come, embrace it, enjoy it and come back for more...
Eat at Mocato get wine from next door and go visit ata.
Home of the world famous Mortadela Sandwich from São Paulo, best in town. Of course, you'll find a wide range of products, from fruits, vegetables, cold cuts, cheese, coffee, etc, etc. Lots of places to eat at the first floor, but I strongly recommend going to the mezzanine, not only a much nicer environment (away from the hustle and bustle of ground floor) but I believe the table service is way better as well as the food. Surroundings are not what I would call the safest place on earth, so be careful in and out of the market.
The most authentic place to experience the culture of Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte. I love to get lost there, to try different foods, chat with the sellers, admire craftwork, buy spices, fruits, cheese and traditional delicacies.
It was on a list of attractions in a travel book about Brazil. We came maybe the wrong day, which is during Carnaval, but it was slow and the selection of products seemed to less than what we see in the open air ferias throughout the city on most days. It is still a neat place, and I will come back on what I expect will be a more normal day.

Perfect location. Near amazing streets. Exchange rate is terrible in Florianopolis. Walk surrounding streets and go to the park as well!
Beautiful place. Good for drink cold beer and listen to live music!
Nice to place to walk around to shop and grab a bite to eat. Big selection of different stores to buy from, clothes, shoes, bags, etc.

Delish foods.
Lots of meats and fish stalls.
A lot of exotic fruits to buy.
We got mortadela sandwiches and oysters. So tasty.
It is a small market with kind of expensive prices.
Come here if you want a yummy lunch and do some grocery shopping.
Solid 4 stars. But can not say it’s a 5 star place because the prices seemed to be very expensive. There were a couple unique shops on the periphery of the market that were interesting. Again, very expensive. Difficult to figure out the parking situation there. There seems to be a parking specifically for the market but it’s very hard to find and access. We had to pay for parking around the block at a lot across the street. There are better markets in São Paulo.

One if the spots you want to visit if you're a tourist or even loving there. Lots of meat markets and food shops. Pretty clean as well.
It's a one-of-a-kind experience. A super-size open air mall of restaurant. All are generally high priced & you pay for the energetic atmosphere that includes LIVE music, well-positioned large TV screens for sports or concert films. High noise level & food was average quality despite above average prices. Still it's a good place for groups.
Even with the awful fish smell coming from the nearby fish mongers, this 300 years market is quite fun, you can find an amazing variety of food and snacks I highly recommend the pastel with Caldo de cana (sugar cane fresh juice) its unmissable.
Excellent place to visit in Porto Alegre and taste the lical food abd buy a good chimarrao.
If you’re visiting Florianopolis, Mercado Público should be a stop on your itinerary. It’s a look back at the historic marketplace which has been recently renovated. Sure, it’s become very touristy, with souvenir shops, but locals also shop lower priced shoes and goods. Another aisle is a fish market which is worth a look to become familiar with the seafood from the region. There are a number of restaurants to have a great meal while sitting back and getting a feel for the vibe, the hustle and bustle of the “centro” or downtown. For a food tip, try a casquinha de Siri, which is a local favorite in which all the meat is removed from a crab, then it’s put back into the shell with some breading and baked. The fried shrimp is also a favorite. Try a caipirinha which is a drink made with cachaca, a Brazilian alcohol made from sugar cane. You can get a caipirinha de limão (lemon),
Maracujá (passionfruit), or morango (strawberry) Be warned, it’s a sweet drink because they add sugar. You can ask for (mitar de açúcar) which is half the normal amount of sugar they add. The beer is also served in a plastic cover that keeps the bottle cold. Also great beer. I like original which is light and refreshing.

It's an old school market. Many kinds of food you can find there. Parking is expensive.
Nice place to have lunch. The best restaurant is called Bar do Rafa. Homemede tasty food
Excellent market. Many places to eat. Manageable in size.
Old-style city market-place, in a traditional building.
Butcher shops; spices; groceries; tobacco and regional ingredients are the mainstay of this market.
Located downtown, with ample parking (paid).
Worth a visit and it is a place to buy good quality products.

Eu recomendo
Lovely old fashion building done in the format of many european markets with lots of well stocked stalls from the mundane to great delicatessen. Worth a visit plus make sure after this you walk towards the river where you can take catamara to Barra Shopping or to Guati for just over 10R or else an hour trip looking at all tourist sights with a different company for 30R cash or 35 if you pay with credit card. Either worth making the time to do as gives you a unique perspective of this gorgeous clean air city.

Recomendo.
Ots of stores and stands in one place, giving you the chance to try and/or buy many different things and foods without having to travel far. Stands typically specialize in one or two subsets of items - for example, butcher shops won't sell fish and vice versa. There are stands for souvenirs as well. I thought some things were a little overpriced, but it's worth it for the variety and covenience.
Great place for groceries, drinks, fruits, vegetables and great new restaurants! There are many options from ceviche, to pizza, to hamburgers, to local rice-and-beans-and-meat. Great place to buy draft beer, wines, nuts, cheese and so on. It has been remodeled recently. The surroundings have also had a wonderful improvement. A nice place to visit every day except Sundays. A sunny Saturday is a must!
Not much variety as in the são Paulo municipal market, but you can find natural spices, nuts, tobacco, cheeses and brazilian northeastern tradicional foods. And all for a good price, I'm a regular costumer. Some people say that it's not trustable to buy meat in there, I can't say if it's true because I've never took the risk hehe. But the spices, nuts and grains in general are very good quality. The shop that I most like is the "quatro estrelas", recommend.
It's a very nice place for grocery shopping plus a great variety of different types of foods from many places in the country. I've been grocery shopping at this market for many years and it keeps being one of the best places in the city
The GO TO place if you're looking for food (to eat on the go or to cook later).

The sellers are great here and there's a ton of choice from fresh vegetable to meat.

Everything is priced excellently and there is even a great little pastel (sort of like an empanada) place at the back of the market (outside).

We'll worth checking that out for sure!
This is a very nice public market. Great prices for meat, fish, poultry, nuts, cheese and cooking utensils. Has also a significant number of ATM machines. Very popular and highly recommended. Be aware of pick pockets since it's full of people moving around and not much security.
Good historic site in Campinas to visit. Have different opinions of groceries to buy.
