Gyoza inedible. left a plate. Sushi was heavy and tasteless. Service was good. Hugely over priced. Price performance not there.

Interesting plating, good service, a little expensive
Good food and great place to sit down and eat a traditional Japanese food. They speak Portuguese and Japanese, if you're not from Brazil they probably will be able to talk Japanese with you. A really great experience.

Been visiting for over 20 years and do make sure to go every time on biz trip. Traditional Japanese restaurant with a la carta and buffet menu, both delicious made to order with fresh ingredients. Owned by super friendly family with fair prices. Do not miss!!!!
Great place, very pleasant. We ordered three items. The cheesecake was gorgeous, the frapé was far too milky and the espresso was not served hot enough... But was made of good beans with medium roast.
Some of the best sushi I’ve ever had! A must visit. The wagyu and salmon were particularly delicious. Love from Canada! 🇨🇦
We were at the Caffe upstairs, they have an excellent Choux Cream!!!

Delicious sushi and miso soup
We went for a late lunch. Service was a bit slow and the food took a long time to arrive. Kids’ dishes arrived at the end, which is never ideal. Food quality was decent, and wide ranges of choices from the menu.

Every month I eat at this japanese restaurant. The hot rolls are the best in the city.

Oh god. We had the rodizio, and the sashimi that came was lacking ... The tuna wasn't prepared by a sashimi chef. Completely inedible. The fish wasn't fresh salmon, white fish or tuna. Plus the rice was uncooked and extra starchy. We paid the bill 💸 but wouldn't recommend.
Sempre como o Sushimi Bowl quando estou no RioMar. Tenho notado que o preço disparou no último ano (de 32 reais para 47 reais) e as porções estão menores.

Desse jeito vai ficar difícil continuar cliente.

Great address for sushis in Sao Paulo !

If you've got only one day in Sao Paulo like I had, I can definitely recommend having a coffee or breakfast near the Batman Alley, checking the beautiful graffitis, then visiting the top floor of Edificio Italia to see in 360° the immensity of the city, then explore the gigantic Mercado Municipal, shopping a pair or two of Havaianas, ending with a diner in one of the best sushi restaurants outside of Japan in the Liberdade neighbourhood !

Excellent Japanese food in the Liberdade neighborhood! The prices can be high, but during weekdays they have an “executive menu” with more affordable options! It was worth it! It was busy at lunchtime, but I had no issues finding a table without a previous reservation!

Seeing the 4.7* rating on Google Maps, we were very excited to try Sushi Kenzo. Unfortunately, we were sorely disappointed. Although the platter looked good, the fish was not very fresh and didn’t taste anywhere close to a 4.7*. Thank goodness I didn’t end up with food poisoning !

Service was also poor, we had to ask several times for our tea to be refilled, and waited a long time for our receipt. Posting this review here to help even out the super positive ratings, since potential customers ought to know…

Excellent quality! I have eaten in many Japanese restaurants in São Paulo, this is one of the very best in the city! Everything was top notch! I highly recommend Ogawa to anyone who really loves Japanese cuisine.
Nice fresh salmon, tuna and white fish were not so fresh.
On the hot dishes some of them looked kinda rushed, maybe because the restaurant was full.

Not much to say average nice sushi 👍
(Little bit price, but it's in the average price on that neighborhood)

I got the Yakisoba special on Sunday on Uber eats which was buy one get one free. The amount/quantity of the food was plentiful but the taste/quality was bad. I had throw most of the food away because the vegetable the meats turn into jelly with no flavor. I'm sorry but there are Yakisoba in the area the quality and taste are much better. I have not tried anything else on the menu but I know that the Yakisoba special 2 for 1 its bad.

Fantastic pastry very balanced delicate... Must try!!
Solid sushi in the most popular street in Liberdade. Their executive lunch menu was at a default price point (80BRL). It is definitely one category below omakase places like Kan or Makoto-san, but is way above average quality and stays pretty authentic.

First time at this restaurant. I went on a sunday and it was pretty crowded, had to wait a little bit for a table and it was reasonable. As my first time I ended up getting the rodizio all you can eat sushi (limited) which it was fresh and good but like I said the place was crowded so to order a second round of food was stressing and took forever. I would definitely go again but to try a la carte dishes.
I love Japanese food and don’t mind paying for good quality Omakase. Unfortunately, that was not my experience at Kenzo today. We ordered an omakase experience that costed $350 reais (definitely on the higher end, even for a city like São Paulo), but the freshness of the fish, rice and way of serving them (all at once, almost rushed) was subpar. Rice was already hardened, the starter was a salmon fried head (the one you usually discard), no premium cuts - like the fattier parts of Toro or uni. Felt like i could order the same order over the counter paying 1/3 of the price.

The reservation and service from host and waiter was great, but unfortunately I could not recommend less the omakase experience. Won’t come back.

Food 5/5: food is great good variety and good amount

Value 4/5: good food with ok prices

Service 4/5: the sao paulo curse service is ok, like in most places in the city where service is mediocre at best.

Place is very cozy and staff is very friendly. The food is from out of this world. The sukiyaki we ordered was so well prepared that we sure will try it again. Sukiyaki has different seasoning depending on who prepares it, and the way they prepared ours is by far our favorite now :)

Traditional Japanese food because it serves soba com molho frio which is freshing and tasty! (my way of define if a Japanese restaurant is traditional hhhh
The fried pork was well-flavored and Super crunchy.
There's an area where you can sit on the floor. It's a cool experience but be careful you may lose ur legs for some minutes
The most traditional Japanese restaurant I've been to: fresh sashimi, delicious misoshiro soup with seafood, grilled fish (teppan yaki) and even roasted green tea (bancha).

Amazing Restaurant with a traditional and delicious. The Staff were also very helpful and friendly.
If you're looking for a traditional japanese meal, that's the place to go for! No cream cheese / mayo / avocado stuff... Just the classics. Perfect execution, presentation and service. Check your their sake menu if you're willing to throw in a few extra bucks
I always ask for the special teishoku, that serves for 2. It's a traditional japanese restaurant, not adapted for the brazilian taste, imo.

Went there after the pandemic, this week, and the service war very bad. Even with the restaurant being empty, lack of attention and not a nice posture from the staff. Also, no instructions and the staff not following the COVID protocol, talking to each other, sometimes without a mask, ner to you and your food. For the price, i dont recommend at all.
The choux is the best thing on the menu and they have a deal of buy 5 and get 1 for free. The original choux is better than the almond or chocolate. They are accepting seated guests inside or you can take to go. The strawberry de craquelim is also very good. Great place to get pastries that will impress a crowd.

The restaurant’s charm is that they don’t pretend to be Japanese, they are Japanese-Brazilians and it’s great! You can feel the atmosphere of Japanese politeness and Brazilian tenderness at the same time...
Sushis are nice and fresh, and teishokus taste as auntie’s food (nhammy), you feel at home with quality! I strongly recommend!
Delicious Sushi restaurant. I have only been there two times and each time was delicious. The have a buffet and I struggle to choose anything else. Nigiri, sashimi, maki, urbanski, tamari and tempura.
Sarah the waitress is a rock star! Speaks perfect English and was crucial to make my experience enjoyable. Food is good but a tad expensive and not abundant. It's weird that all Japanese restaurants close the kitchen from 2pm to 6pm. This restaurants kitchen was at least open until 3 pm, so I could have lunch. Thanks to Sarah, the taste of the food and the more flexible schedule, you got a 4/5!
Excellent ambience and very attentive waiters. Food is really authentic - especially recommended is their Japanese Curry

A very complete way of eating Japanese food. Almost every meal from Japan is to be found here, and the all-you-can-eat buffet is cheaper during the midweek. Be sure to make a stop here for some delicious, fresh and well-prepared food.

The food is pretty amazing, the only thing I don't reccomend is their sushi, it's just not made the proper way, it was just very cold as if it was taken from the refrigerator and as far as I'm accustomed to sushi is not served stone cold. The yakisoba, onigiri and everything else I tried tasted pretty amazing

Yuzu's welcome card is the smell of charcoal, that might set the tone on what you can get, but Yakitori is not the only good thing there.

The whole menu is filled with very good Japanese treats, sushi is pretty decent, lamen, udon, teppan, tonkatsu, grilled fish and everything else is at least honest. Nothing is outstanding, but is worth the visit because of the variety, in a way you can please different tastes and gather a lot of friends or family on their big tables, or seating on the tatamis on the floor.

Great food, affordable prices, quiet to have a good conversation. The chef is amazing, such a great person.
Try the sashimi teishoku.
Imagine a service that is so bad that in just a small interaction with one of the waitress I've completed lost my interest in eating in the place...simple as that.
When I asked if there was any table available for 2, the waitress was really rude, just point to the balcony and said that the place was full.

Sushi is literally a hit or miss – if the fish is fresh, the rice is well done and the itamae is skilled, it's a hit. At Kisetsu they offer fresh fish and good food for a reasonable price, specially on week days, and their menu has all the items you would expect from a good sushi restaurant.

The decor is inspired by traditional japanese architecture but there are a few details that look cheap. This won't affect the experience, of course, but still it's noticeable.
Nice authentic Japanese setting. Food is very very good

Don’t judge a book by its cover — a bit shabby on the outside and nothing fancy inside, it is one of the last places in Liberdade to try Japanese traditional dishes that you would only find otherwise at a family’s table. Other than the counter and tables, it still offers a few seating places in a lovely tatami room.
The extensive menu offers gems to be discovered and savored — though for being that extensive it’s not unusual that some ingredients shall not be available during one visit or another. But there are so many choices, really, even for vegetarians — their eggplant dishes are delicious!
All teishoku (classic Japanese meal set) can be shared by two if ordered along with another small dish or portion. Their tamago (egg) tofu is so delicate and silken, a must-try. The sashimi is not the thin carpaccio you find elsewhere, but beautifully sliced portions nearly a finger thick, and so tender!
On hot days, their air conditioning is a plus. Service can be brisk at times — but it is not added to the bill, so if it’s good remember to leave a tip downstairs at the cashier.
Climb the stairs for possibly the best sweet treats in Liberdade.
Their choux is a delight, plain or filled with whipped cream and strawberries or banana, and even chocolate. You’ll find Belgian chocolate cake, fruit tarts — but since this is the Japanese neighborhood, my favorites are the several recipes with Matcha.
It can get really crowded and noisy on weekends.

Yuzu was recommended by a friend. It is not a flashy restaurant, but is a great, traditional Japanese restaurant with excellent food in a traditional Japanese setting with tatami mat dinning rooms. I will definitely return to this restaurant. We ordered the special Sashimi & Sushi platter, Shrimp & Vegetable Tempura, amd a Umeboshi roll. One of the best
Japanese meals I’ve every had in São
Paulo, very reasonably priced for the quality!!!!
Proper Japonese food. Love it!

This is my favorite Japanese rodízio in São Paulo that doesn't cost R$150 per person. The restaurant has good service, the food is always worth the money, and it is located close to the metrô in the Japanese neighborhood of Liberdade. They have normal tables and chairs as well as more traditional floor seating if you are into that kind of thing.
Traditional japanese restaurant. Don't expect to find nipo-brazilian food mixes like regular japanese restaurants in São Paulo.

Excellent Japanese food in Sao Paulo downtown.
Sashimi, soba and grilled fish (anchova) are my favorite dishes !
All the seafoods are very fresh ! And the attendants are very kind.

It’s worth to have a try when you are close by.
Great restaurant for Sushi.
We were in Sao Paulo in January 2017 and ended up visiting the Liberdade District during the celebration of the Chinese New Year. The neighborhood was crowded and we could barely walk the streets, especially near where there was food.
So we started to look for a restaurant and we found the Banri, which was like an Oasis in the middle of so much confusion.
The restaurant has 2 floors and we went to the second floor after wait for while because it was full. The Asian decor is simple but very cozy. We ordered hot dish (Beef fried rice) and a sushi boat and everything was very yummy. The service was a little slow, but we understood that it was because it was a special occasion and the restaurant was packed. The price was reasonable and we ate very well.
Grade: Eli = 4, Serge = 4
Recommend: Yes, overall it was a really cool experience.

First advice, if you don´t want to wait on the queue, arrive early. It tends to get crowd on the weekends. Overall the food is great, I would advise you to have the Jun Sashimi ou the Jun Sushi. It's their premium fish at the house on the day.

Overall, it´s a great place for a sushi in Liberdade.

Average, at best. Awful service, 20 min just to get the menu. Another 20 to order. And they were out of all the cold dishes with fish. Yes, a traditional Japanese restaurant on an average Saturday night can't serve sashimi. Inexcusable.

Banri is a find of my fiancé and I in the Liberdade area. We couldn't find any better place for the overpriced sushi rodizios around there. We've been to Banri at least 3 times. Every time we go to São Paulo, that place is a stop. We normally order the 33 pieces of sushis and sashimi selection. It's pretty well served and it's good for 2 piggies eating. I recommend it a lot! Oh, after you finish eating either your sushi's or the Chinese food. You can end up buying their imported asian grocery products in front of the restaurant. It's a lovely experience.
