We loved this village. Staff are wonderful and love to interact. Only one of them couldn't speak any English. All but 2 of the structures are original and everyone so knowledgeable about the history of the buildings and artifacts. Creative how when you go through the covered bridge you are passing from one era to another. Had a refreshing drink in the hotel and Bartender sang to me.

It is indeed the nicest hotel, people, and historical parc/spot I have stayed at in a long while. Stayed two nights at the Albert hotel. No TV in the rooms but had my laptop. WIFI was fine. Awesome experience. Must visit if you are a fan of French Canadian history - Acadian. Staff are bilingual and very eager to accommodate you in every way possible. I intend to go back soon!
Wouldn’t spend any money/ time visiting this place. Older gentlemen who seemed to be the owner was very rude. If you plan on going, try calling ahead to see what staff is in that day.
They have a cooperage, a barrel mill and a bucket maker! This is a big open air living history museum that is worth visiting just as that, but the time-line portrayal of Acadian life in New Brunswick is not to be missed. Very good, fully bilingual Interpretation throughout the site. Lots of heritage animals and plants. I liked that the staff were all eating lunch in the various houses using the food grown there.
Wear good walking shoes, and take lots of photos. We were there for three hours and could have spent more time with ease.

Everyone needs to experience this place! Plan for a full day. It's incredible!
Overall, it's like a small village. I liked that each successive house becomes slightly more modern. There are various animals and vehicles from that time. But the most interesting thing is that the village workers seem to live here. You can see them having lunch or working on sewing machines from that era. In general, it shows how many tools from different times used to work and how they evolved over time. In each house, there's a village representative who tells about the house and what people were doing during that time.
On the village grounds, there are a couple of souvenir shops. They are special because some products are made right in the village, with workers showcasing their craft during presentations. For example, barrels, shoes, towels, etc.
Regarding relaxation, there's a restaurant in the style of that time. The menu is limited to 2 main dishes and 2 desserts. However, it's very quick and delicious. There's also a more modern café in the central building and an establishment with snacks and drinks in the village itself.
Overall, highly recommended, especially if you have children.

This is a very interesting and large museum of Acadian culture and life. We enjoyed our time there.
The only inconvenience was that not all guides can tell you as much in English as they do in French. So if you don't know French, you miss out on learning more about the different buildings and households. The guy at the woodworking shop was amazing though! He explained a lot in English, and he's fun too.

People “in role” would act as the people who lived in the house, and explain the history behind them, very large area, il fait plus bon pour les famille, I would definitely recommend.
Friendly staff. Very knowledgeable. Worth staying overnight in Caraquet and doing the park in two days (standard ticket allows this). Gives a real feel of times gone by. Era gets closer to modern day as you walk through. Give it plenty of time and talk to the authentic “residents” in each building. A highlight was Martin’s house and his story and the fantastic, working old water mill

We went for the family day promotion where admission was free for all. We got there shortly after they opened and the parking lot was already packed (their parking lot is quite small to begin with). However, we were able to find street parking a few blocks away. As it was a public holiday, the place was packed. We've been here a few times before but when the children's play area was under renovation. We were pleasantly surprised that the play area was open and it was definitely the highlight. There are a ton of hands-on independent play activities including dress up, building blocks, and stuffed puppet animals, to name a few. One part of our visit that was quite uncomfortable was a professional photographer who was actively taking photos of kids. Originally I thought they were a parent, until I saw that they were taking photos of every kid in the space. I may have missed a notice saying that photos would be taken on this day but I know many folks who would have an issue with this as not all parents/guardians will give consent to people taking photos of their child. In the gallery room, I believe to celebrate family day, they provided some complimentary snacks. It would have been nice to have had some labels to identify all of the foods for those with dietary restrictions or allergies. The only thing I recognized was bannock. It would have also been nice to know where each of the food was catered from. We were only able to stay for about 45 minutes but overall, we had a good time. By the time we left, there was a line outside that went all the way to the parking lot, probably due to the free admission.
What a beautiful museum! Our 2 and 4 year old kids greatly enjoyed the exhibitions and seeing pieces of history. Would love to come back again next time.
I visited the Vancouver Maritime Museum with my family and it was our second time there. We had a wonderful experience once again! The RCMP ship on display is incredibly well-preserved and it's amazing to see how well the ship has been maintained over the years. But what really stood out to us was the kid's playground. It's been recently renovated and it's incredibly family-friendly, which made our visit even more enjoyable. Our child had a blast playing there and it was a great way to break up the museum visit for them. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, which added to the welcoming atmosphere. We were fortunate enough to attend a family event on Family Day and the free cookies and drinks were a nice touch. Our child loved them! We highly recommend the Vancouver Maritime Museum for anyone looking for a fun and educational day out with the family.
After 12 years in Vancouver, finally came here to check it out. Pretty interesting for kids as well. My 6 year old boy was very exited to check real 100 years old ship from inside. Its not big museums, but where else you can see 100 year old ship and go on board?

Really neat, specialized museum housed in a unique structure. Some of the exhibits and spaces are a bit old, but the main exhibit - the St. Roch - was well-maintained and housed in an impressive space. I liked how we could climb up to the ship's deck and even explore parts of its interior, include parts of the lower deck. Shoutout to the staff member manning the ship - he was very friendly and willing to answer our questions. There was also a host of exhibits surrounding the ship that gives great information on the ship's background and history. For a casual visit, an hour would be good.
This building stores a wealth of information and many emotional connections to Scarboroughs past. It was a joy to search for information and even photos of life in Scarborough. I was a member a few years ago. And introduced two friends who not only joined but contributed significant material. Sadly both of them and myself discontinued our association with the socioty due to a certain members sarcastic remarks and sence of ownership of the material. I was so sad to feel nervous and uncomfortable while visiting the site.
This place is spectacular. Literally going back in time since the workers play the characters of the people that lived not only during the era, but the ones that actually lived in these actual homes. They don’t break character much either. They are knowledgeable about all equipment used, all artifacts in each room are actually used by them. They make their own meals in the traditional Acadian way, wash their dishes and all. They tend to their gardens. It seriously IS like stepping back in time.
Plus all staff are bilingual. Friendly, and you can tell they love their jobs.

Among Vancouver's museums I feel like this one is often overlooked! What most people don't realize is that there's some really good stuff here! It's not all ships and containers (I mean those are cool too). In recent years there's an increased emphasis on Inuit and First Nations exhibits. Things are well kept and theres a lot to take in!
Unique, interesting and friendly.
The village is well set up. It's a nice gentle walk with a rest area halfway through that has snacks and beverages with places to sit and rest. I liked how the second half of the village is a bit newer (20s to 50s). We stopped at the bistro for lunch and the food was delicious! Well worth the visit!!

This museum provides a fascinating history to the people's and the discovery of Vancouver and Canada from a maritime perspectice. One special feature is that it houses the complete RCMP St. Roch vessel which was the first schooner to circumnavigate North America and second ship to go through the important Northwest Passage (it can be boarded and explored). The guided tours are especially informative. It is easy to spend half a day here. Onsite small pay parking lot.
