Best Day care centers in Canada

I’ve gone through the daycare process with my older one, and this is one of the best experiences I’ve had! My daughter attends Macklin house junior preschool for several months now after attending a home daycare. We were worried about the transition to a larger room and more kids, she settled in well and quickly, and the providers tended to her needs well. The providers are well organized, informed and attentive, even for my usually quiet girl. She is always kept clean and it’s very easy to speak to the providers and stay in the loop. All information is always posted to check too.
It’s very nerve racking choosing a daycare and I’m so glad we went with this one. It truly is a family feel with care and support. She has made many friends, plays a variety of activities I see at drop off and pick up, her vocabulary and independence has grown already. I feel safe and secure knowing my child is here.

Cancel tour appointment without any notification. We only knew it was cancelled when we arrived. And asked us to leave immediately

How could you do this as an educational company.

Alert!! Ownership of this place was changed about 1-2 years ago, please do not read reviews created earlier than that timeline!
DO NOT hand our baby to those people who only care about making money! When we agreed to pay deposit for securing our daycare spot, we were told registration fee was not refundable, but were under the impression that deposit was refundable. Right after we paid our deposit, we decided to go for another daycare center, (which turned out to be the most correct decision we've ever made) So we called May right away, which was more than half a year to our start date, to inform her that we would like our money back. We were told deposit was absolutely not refundable, not transferrable and cannot be stored as credit in any format. Not only that, we were told by May that we MUST write an officlal email to her stating that we give up our daycare spot and volunterrily forfeit my registration fee and deposit as soon as possible "as a regulatory requirement" (so that she could give away my spot to other kids).
Also how May run the center is very scammy. I was told by my accountant to request for a receipt for the registratrion and deposit that I paid as childcare expense for tax purposes. Since I only got a verbal confirmation from May that it was paid through email transfer so I called her to request the official receipt. I was told by May that they NEVER give such kind of receipt as it doesn't count as 'child care expense' and not deductible for tax purpose. I insisted that what I was asking was not some kind of official tax form, but JUST a receipt to show the money that I paid for. Thought it was a must for all Canadian business, but May still refused to provide. So as I have no clue where my money went if there is no receipt. I hope CRA please shut them down investigate them!!!

DANGER⛔️ ⚠️ ‼️ If I could give negative reviews I would. From the moment I first stepped into this daycare I noticed the daycare is in shambles. Kids crying mess every where…. One kid was screaming crying standing by himself I then decided to time how long until someone attended the baby boy… took just under 5 minutes. After first week at the daycare my daughters face was breaking out a lot of small pimples on the side of her face, the sleeping area is definitely not cleaned and maintained properly, I asked to see the place they said only by appointment which is concerning. On a cold day I came to pick my daughter up and they had my daughter outside in a stroller watching kids play underdressed…. Who hired these people ? My Daughter has been sick since we started the enrolment…Second last incident was she came home with a big cut on her forehead my daughter (1.5y/o) the teachers/caregivers do not pay any attention to the kids. My final straw was today… she came home with big scratches on her face. An older kid was scratching up her face AGAIN no teacher paying any attention to the kids because it was multiple scratches. My wife asked how could they allow her to keep getting scratched they HAVE NO ANSWERS ‼️ STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE IF YOU LOVE YOUR CHILD. THIS PLACE NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN

My child went here for a short period of time and we had no issues with the center and the teachers but the communication from the center head Ms May is terrible and confusing. That’s one of the major reasons we moved to another center. Now we had to go back to them to request a tax receipt for the funds paid and we are being challenged to pay additional funds which were never owed. And it’s frustrating explaining the same thing to the head who doesn’t respond or understand your concern. This is not the first time we have been asked to pay extra based on lack of understanding and miscommunication. Please stay away from this place.

My son Benjamin has only joined in Sunrise last September and I am already very impressed by the progression he has made in this time! From the moment we visited the school we were made very welcome and my son has always been very happy to go to in - he has even asked if he can go at the weekend!

Thank you so much Ms Sue, Ms Marcia and Ms Samaya and the principal Ms Grace for being knowledgeable and caring towards the children. It’s a bright, clean, happy and welcoming environment, and provides home cooked food rather than outsourcing the meals, which I really like as I know the food is all fresh.

I cant recommend this school and the staff highly enough, their approach to childcare is second to none.

Sunrise is an outstanding Montessori School. Grace and all the educators there are always so professional. They always strive to provide top-notch care for the children. Communication with the school is also outstanding. There are so many good things to say. Thank you very much for your continued support during the start of our children's educational journey.

My children have been coming to this daycare for two years, not only do I feel extreme gratitude and appreciation for the staff; they go over an beyond nit only for the children but for the parents as well.
The professionalism, caring, and respect of the staff is sooo infectious. It’s a second home for my children. I have feel extremely safe leaving my children and we’ll nit community that takes care of my children. The staff from my experience treat the children as if they were their own. This is wonderful safe loving environment to send your children. The security is amazing. My children have flourished I’m school due to the programs they provide. As a mother I’m very happy that I can go to work an entrust the Macklin House Daycare staff with my children.

My child was fortunate enough to be enrolled for his last 4 months before graduation into JK at this facility.

We were a little worried because he did not speak English going in but the quality of care provided to my son was second to none, all the staff were beyond friendly and caring. He came out loving his daycare, friends and the teachers.

5/5 communications, every week email is sent regarding special schedules. Monthly calendars are shared along with meal plans. (My son enjoyed the food and he is a picky eater at home!) Also, I wasn’t expecting them to follow up but on days where he didn’t go due to other plans and I didn’t notify them beforehand, they would call to check if everything was ok.

The facility was always clean when I was picking up or dropping off my son. Not much I can write about other than Great!

I have to recommend this daycare to all parents in the area seeking a nurturing and enriching environment for their little children.

I am very glad that I chose Apple Blossems Centre for my kid to spend the past two years before attending JK. All the caregivers at Apple Blossoms Centre are very friendly, professional, and passionate towards children. They have various activities for major holidays and also often arrange photography activities. Photos of children are shared daily via an App. My son is very playful and he is definitely not an easy one to work with but they treated him like their own. Their kindness and patience have helped a lot in my kid's development. I am very grateful for their efforts and strongly recommend Apple Blossoms Centre to all parents in Berczy area.

I have three children who all went to Macklin House Daycare at the Denison/McCowan location. Over the 7 years I've known Maria the supervisor, and many of the staff, I know and trust that the staff all love the children and care for them in nurturing and attentive ways. I particularly notice there is a healthy trust and working relationship between all the staff, and together, they do an excellent job for the children at this daycare.

The programming is fair, and educational activities are engaging for the children, and sometimes tailored to each child's developmental needs. The meals and snacks are balanced and nutritious. I strongly recommend this daycare to any parent seeking a nurturing and stimulating environment for their little ones.

Macklin Daycare, has been very dear to my family all 3 out of my four children had attended. The staff are like second family. Ms. Thava, Maria are some of the best teachers/administrators staff that you could ask for.
I also just recently recommended a friend with her little one and she loves the center.

When we moved here I was looking for childcare, this was the first place available and I am happy I made the choice. Our daughter started at this daycare just before her 1st birthday. She is always excited to go to school and see her teachers and friends. The staff are so welcoming and they are always helpful with questions you may have. my daughter has been with them since she was still 1 year old and now she is 2.5 years old.They are friendly, amazing, caring staff. It’s wonderful seeing our daughter get excited about going to daycare here. The teachers really make an effort to engage the kids and develop them in a very individualized way. The management is really committed to providing a safe, fun, and loving environment and we’re very thankful to all staff. I love this place and so does my daughter.

I absolutely love Macklin House! All 3 of my kids have went here. It's really hard to find a trusting daycare these days and the staff here make you feel like family! All the staff here are kind and loving with the kids, and Maria (supervisor) is absolutely amazing. I loved watching my kids grow here and I would definitely recommend to any parents looking.

The sisters are so caring and love the children so much. They are well cared for.

My son enrolled at this school when he was 9 months old and took most of the first steps of his early life with his teachers. 5 years later, we only have positive things to say about Sunrise and their teachers. They have provided a safe environment where he has had every opportunity for growth and development, curiosity and creativity, building social skills and self esteem, gaining new experiences, learning, discipline and independence .

We are grateful for their patience and empathy, nurturing, care, positive influence, moral guidance, enthusiasm, hardwork and sacrifice.

We switched our daycare in April '22 for our 2 year old and we noticed a difference right away. The facilities, staff and leadership delivers in many ways.

Communication is excellent. Each weekend we receive an overview of the weeks activities. We also receive a monthly calendar highlighting all the cool days that they teach the children about.

The food is top notch. The daycare receives catering which is nutritious and appealing for children.

Their educational program is well thought out and entertaining. Our daughter comes home excited to share what she has learned each day.

The staff is welcoming and super friendly. Our daughter expresses how excited to see her favorite staff each morning.

Overall, we are super impressed and thankful we made the switch. At first it was a bit daunting going from a small personal day care to a larger center, however, looking back, we definitely made the right move.

My daughter Herrina has been going here since last October. She absolutely enjoyed her time every day. All of the teachers are really nice and friendly. I really recommend this daycare to all.

My son has started his journey at sunrise since he was an infant. I absolutely adore the infant teacher (miss gracie), and throughout toddler to now Casa. Miss sue is his favorite teacher, and she is so loving and caring. His academic and social skills have greatly improved. Love the staff there including the beautiful principal grace, and Ms Gracia who greets us every morning. The facility is super clean, and new hence I chose this one from the beginning. Regular school year requires uniform which is great, and summer camp is wonderful with its funfilled activities. My daughter will soon be joining the infant class, I definitely recommend this school. Thank you staff for being so wonderful!

My daughter (3yrs old) just started at this daycare location since end of May 2021 and had a great experience. The staff, supervisor May and everyone is very nice, helpful. This place only accepts Pre-school kids at 2.5 yrs and older. They don't have Toddler room (under 2.5 yrs old), just Pre-School room. We are so glad we signed her up for YMCA and got a spot here. We were very hesitant due to Covid situation at first to send her to daycare. My daughter loves going to school everyday, learn, play with other kids and even wakes up early at 7-8am each day to look forward to going to school. Highly recommend sending your kids to any of the YMCA location if you can find a spot. We will send my son next when he turns 18 months for the Toddler room if any of the YMCA close by have a spot. Rate is very affordable & below. They have the best rates as they are non-profit. Family Day also have good rates too. They have an app where they will upload pictures and what your child did/ate each day which is great! :) ...YMCA Daily Child Care Rates:

Our son began at ABC during the pandemic. We are extremely pleased with the center's covid protocols. We feel safe sending our child there every day.

The staff is warm and welcoming, and delivers an age-appropriate and enriching program. Since beginning at ABC, we have seen exceptional gains in our son's independence, social skills, fine motor and gross motor development, as well as in his speech. We get frequent updates on his well-being in the classroom, along with programming via a communication app for education.

The center offers 2 snacks and a lunch with lots of variety throughout the month so he gets exposure to different flavours and foods. We would definitely recommend ABC to family and friends.

My daughter went to this daycare from 11 months to 2.5. it was an amazing experience for her. The teachers are very attentive to the children needs and will always listen to you and share everything about your how their day was

My daughter is currently enrolled at Sunrise Montessori within their Casa program and has been at the school since she was a toddler. So far, we are beyond thrilled with the school and the staff members, the principal Ms. Grace as well as the Toddler/Casa room teachers are super accommodating and friendly. My daughter absolutely adores her teachers and is always so excited to go in every morning, as a parent knowing that your child is happy and more importantly safe is always huge factor. The classrooms are very clean and the academic materials are always organized and easily accessible for the students.

Being a teacher myself, I know the importance of an effective educator and positive learning environment and how it impacts an individual child's overall development and ability to thrive which is why I am so pleased and impressed with Sunrise Montessori School. My child loves the school and the teachers very much. I have personally witnessed how the staff are very caring and go the extra mile to take care of the children in class and especially on field trips. The food in Sunrise is not 5 star, but the education my son receives completely trumps the concern of food, unlike what some parents seem to be only superficially concerned about in previous posts. Overall this is a great school. Highly recommended. Keep up the good work Sunrise!

I first was introduced to the convent and daycare when I was 9-10 years old. I had joined the children's choir, which was led by Sr. Esther and Sr. Rebecca, and later Sr. Analeia. My brother then attended the daycare. Over time, we have had a couple of generations who came to stay at the daycare and we are so blessed to know and have these amazing women in our lives.

Currently, my daughter is attending the daycare. The sisters are so careful and caring to her and to all the attending kids. They have a schedule which kids get used to (prayers, learning activities, lunch, outdoor play, etc.) You can tell the great lengths that the sisters go through as each child bonds with them so well and really misses them when they are not in daycare.

My family and I are so thankful to have become such great family friends with the sisters. Even outside of the daycare, I truly love and respect these remarkable women as if they were my many aunts and grandmothers, and I know my daughter also feels the same. God bless you always Sisters!

I was contacting them many times but they never returned to me. I had the same problem last year. I was looking for afterschool care for my son, because I had to work. That is complicated!

My kids attended this centre 2014-2019. Our experience was good there. The centre's management and staff care about the kids, and provide good food to them. We were very fortunate to be able to expose our children to Mandarin through the 30 minute/day Mandarin circle. Both my kids went through the Montessori room during the year before kindergarten.

They also offer Saturday programs for Chinese, dance, vocal classes...etc. This provided a very helpful "break" for me to do housework while the kids were in classes.

My daughter has been going to the YMCA at Reesor Park for 6 years. All the staff are fantastic and take great care of my daughter. They always are keeping the kids busy with fun things to do. She just told me yesterday that she misses Rodelle so much and can't wait for her to get back (Mat leave). She also always has a great time with Joe. He has been a constant at the YMCA every year and she always has great things to say about him as well. Mary is also great...that is just to name a few but all the staff are A+ in my books. Well done everyone!!

I did a tour recently. Staff, supervisor seem really nice, facility is spacious bigger than most daycare in the area and food is cook on site too. Price is very reasonable & affordable for toddler at $52/day or $1000/month :). Signed up for waiting list for 2019 as YMCA is super popular :)

Great daycare! My daughter has been going from age 2 and is now almost 4. Teachers are wonderful and so caring for the students. They learn a lot, do a lot of crafts and outdoor play and and even have mandarin circle time. We have a European background and she can already sing songs in Mandarin and count to 30 in mandarin! Its amazing. Lunch and snacks are included and my daughter loves the food there! Hot lunches everyday and Im jealous when she tells me what she had for lunch. They also offer a montessori program in the school which I highly recommend. She has been in it since September and we love it! I am sad that she will be leaving in September to go to Kindergarten!
