Reviews

Ideal place for resting. There are a lot of tables and fireplaces. The lake or river is picturesque. There are two spots for launching paddle boards. There is moderate trail around the lake. Entrance fee for adult is 8.5cad in 2024 season. There are camping spots with potable water. I recommend this place for exploring not only trail but cave and islands.

Nice quiet park with a shallow-entry beach. Washrooms available and picnic tables under a pavilion. Shady areas close to the beach and lots of parking available. Only downside is the amount of goose poop along the grass/pathways by the beach.

Hiking trails and the views are amazing. Rent a kayak or a canoe to explore the park and see beautiful views. The beach is small but still nice. I really enjoyed the day we spent there

lovely spot for a relaxing day outdoors. It features well-maintained walking trails, and plenty of picnic areas. Clean facilities and ample parking make it convenient. Highly recommended for families, Friends and nature lovers! :)

The Eramosa River flows through the area, creating picturesque landscapes and opportunities for canoeing, kayaking, and fishing.
The park offers a variety of recreational activities, including hiking on its well-maintained trails, swimming at the sandy beach, and camping in its scenic campgrounds. Visitors can also enjoy picnicking in designated areas, and exploring the caves and rock formations that are accessible via trails and the river.

Rockwood Conservation Area is a great place to spend a day outdoors. There are two beginner-friendly hiking trails with beautiful views of the reservoir and surrounding cliffs. The park is open year-round, and the day pass fee is $8.50 per person. There's also a nice beach and campgrounds available. I recommend going for a hike or renting a canoe to explore the water.

The park is incredibly beautiful and the hiking trail is an easy one, which makes it suitable for families with kids, and dogs. I must say the lookout point is breathtaking! We went there on a cloudy day and we can’t wait to go back when it’s sunny. We highly recommend it.

Amazing trail. Fantastic spot for weekend family picnics.

This place was very quite and relaxing. One of the best places I have been for kayaking or canoeing! They also have lot of rental options if you dont own a kayak!

I don't know if it's worth the $20 access fee given the size of the park. A well maintained and nice little trail overall. A bit busy for a rainy day.
I'm sure the beach area is amazing on a sunny day.

Went for a hike for our friends birthday. Beautiful views. Would def do it again.

We recently spent three unforgettable days at Rockwood Conservation Area, and it was an experience to remember! Our group of eight enjoyed camping and every moment, from the scenic trails to the fun-filled activities available at the park.
the mini golf area is a fantastic addition. We also played cricket. The trails within the park are another standout feature.
Overall, Rockwood Conservation Area provided a perfect blend of relaxation and activity. We highly recommend it for anyone looking to enjoy nature and create lasting memories. We can’t wait to return!

Since when it became McGill’s private property? We drove all the way down just to realize that we had to buy tickets from website and it is all sold out! We have come here a couple of times before Covid and were never asked to buy tickets in advance. Quel dommage

It's one of the best trails I've ever been on. Absolutely stunning rocks to climb and hike through. We hiked the 4km loop and it took just under an hour. Trail is clean and well marked out. Lots of free parking at the entrance on Eagle Cr. I highly recommend checking it out if in the area.

So beautiful! Located near the city, this is one of the most beautiful places to see autumn colors. I will visit again. I love this place.

Serene , amazing staff , if you are a nature lover , the trails are worth it.

Beautiful and serene

Ideal for a weekend escape, conveniently located near Brampton and Mississauga, this destination is perfect for families with children. Featuring a thrilling tree-top zip line and a heart-shaped lake as its main highlight, the conservatory is well-kept. Although the kids' water play yard was closed during our visit, the park is excellent for outdoor activities in the summer. Birdwatchers will delight in the variety of bird species present. This location is well-suited for hosting family events and gatherings.

Beautiful scenery. A little icy last weekend but still fun when careful. Wish we could park car inside rather than lining the cars on the busy highway.

This is a very beautiful beach ..the stones are incredible colours, decently private..this is a definite stop along your journeys

mont saint Hilaire is amazing, especially at this time of the year. access fees are well used and the place is well maintained. having such a nice spot so close to Montreal is amazing. highly recommend going during the week as else it gets crowded. they rent crampons if you forget yours, as did my friend. you can even get a hot chocolate when the hike is over.

Beautiful place, easy-moderate hike, make sure you don't go from des falaises entrance you will not find a parking.

I back here every year for visiting this place for doing different types of activities, If you like paddling you can enjoying outstanding scenery during your activity specially in fall, there is a beautiful long well maintained trail for doing biking and hiking and there are enough benches for enjoying barbecue and other picnic activities

We completed the Paradise Lake Loop which is a moderate hike that took us approx 8km to complete. While completing this hike please be aware that there is a fair few steps, and some difficult terrain such as it being muddy in some areas. The views when you make it up to the hill is very pretty to see, we really loved the stunning lake! This hike is mostly shaded but still be sun smart and bring bug spray too! The parking here is good, it can get quite busy, but it is free and accessible.

first time here, and we stayed on the white stamped trail. Quick hike today just to see, and we liked what we saw. Will be back and explore more

Definitely a great place to stop a bit with nice Lake view and water is clear.

Great location for a rest break between Sault St Marie and Wawa, ON.

Mont Saint-Hilaire is a serene mountain with an easy route and well-maintained trails. It offers a refreshing and relaxing experience amidst beautiful natural surroundings. With its captivating vistas and tranquil ambiance, it’s an ideal destination for nature lovers seeking a rejuvenating escape.

This nature-oriented park offers an extraordinary experience, immersing visitors in its awe-inspiring surroundings. It boasts a variety of well-maintained trail paths and numerous decks that provide close proximity to the pond. Observing the abundance of fish swimming within the pond was a captivating sight, while the presence of avid fishermen added to the lively atmosphere. The park's flora and fauna were in excellent condition, contributing to its overall appeal. Spending a day there, especially on a weekend, was truly remarkable, making it a hidden gem worth discovering. This nature-oriented park not only offers a remarkable experience but also provides ample parking lots, ensuring convenient access even on bustling weekends. It is advisable to carry essentials such as water, considering the length of the trail. This precaution ensures a comfortable and enjoyable journey throughout the park.

Very beautiful and forested lots a lake and marshes Very rocky good snowmobiling and atv ridding

Always attest being here.
Dogs are welcome, but keep on leashes. There is a home with a sign which clearly states "dogs off leash will be sh0t".
If you are going to go through the caves, make sure to wear proper shoes.
Enjoy the views, and have fun.

Lovely nature park with trails of intermediate difficulty. Beautiful waterfall and lake. Be prepared for changes in elevation. I would recommend wearing hiking boots or other good shoes for climbing/outdoor activity. It is a pretty wild trail and not the easiest to navigate - infrequent map signage, but there are trailhead markers. There are also some nice signs about the local wildlife with QR codes.
You may want to park at the parking lot next to "Entrée Alfred Kelly Nature Reserve" on Rue de la Station. We visited in mid-April, so there was still plenty of snow covering the forest and paths. The initial climb at the Entrée is steep and slippery when wet/snowy. The back entrance near Mnt Sauvage (where Google Maps brought me) also has a steep and wet descent, but not quite as laborous as the Entrée in my experience. The rear entrance is also closer to Lac Paradis. Parking is limited on the streets. Lovely park for birdwatching.

Easy and well marked trail. Saw 2 deer but couldn't get my camera out fast enough to take pics.

Take the Bruce trail, a side trail trail leads to the caves which is really beautiful. It was a bit hard cause of all the snow. We didn’t have any equipment with us, we found a branch which we used as a hiking stick. One should be careful of the gap in between stones which is not visible cause of the snow.

Great place for a hike all year long. It is free to access and hike, or snow shoe. No dogs…we found out when we brought ours last summer. You will be kindly told to leave. We used crampons today (Dec 27) but snow shoes would be better.

Didn't really see much.. Im assuming that's cause of the cd westher we've had.. Gonna come. Back in the spring and hopefully see more..
The upside is it's super quiet, not many people and it looks like it could be super pretty in the fall/summer

Great option for hiking only 45min from the city (with no traffic). There’s several trails, not that east to navigate but it’s pretty busy so there’s people to ask around. Don’t need to reserve or pay fee to enter. There’s free parking at the base on the street. It’s an intermediate hike, lots of rocks and slopes going up/down. A nice lake to see and views from the top.

Lovely trail. Took about 45 minutes to make the loop.

From Andrew Hamilton Gault: the mountain of St. Hilaire is my most treasured possession, and in offering it to McGill it is with the hope that its beauties and amenities may be preserved for all time to come, not only in the immediate interests of the university itself, but, through its corridors of learning, as a great heritage for the benefit and enjoyment of the youth of Canada. wow! who knew you could own a mountain!? 🤷🏽♂️😂 anywho, it’s a great collection of trails!

Went here to check out the nottawasaga lookout point and there was notta much here. Trees have grown and blocked the view. It was a nice walk though, lots of maple trees and also very quiet. A lot of mosquitoes so bug spray would help. We did not visit the rocky caves, maybe next time.

9$ per person of age 18 and plus. Less than 18 years the entry is free.
You have good parking place.
A beautiful lake on top of the mountain.
Not many people and less crowded.

It is a beautiful and peaceful place.

This is a "wow" level hiking area. Even it is close to couple towns. There are so many scenic spots for pictures. Trails are easy walking level. It could be long for some but 8km without climbing is easily achievable for many. Signs are clear for direction. Yes, you have to pay per head but I believe it is worthwhile. Staffs are polite and helpful. Thanks for good upkeeping the area for many to enjoy 😉

Very beautiful view, long distance hiking, make sure to bring water with you, also some light snacks if you want to make a little stops for break. I really enjoyed the hiking. The view is amazing from the top of the mountain.
I recommend it so much for people who loves hiking and able to walk long distance.

Nice hiking though I found it a little hard to navigate and figure out the trails, ended up going in small circles a few times 😬 also, difficult to see what the trail is situated at times and it is really lacking in maintenance on the bridges. Literal holes... Dangerous.
Parking is available at the info centre.

A nice conservation area to go hiking in all seasons, in the winter make sure to bring crampons because the trail can be quite icy. It makes a nice bike trail in the summer. There are plenty of beautiful views to admire along the trail and lots of benches to stop and take a break.

This is one of the nicest beaches all along the cost. Absolutely incredible. You can do a little hike or just lay and swim among some of the nicest rocks and earth formations in Ontario. Right off the road, definitely worth a stop!!

I'm reluctant to write this so it doesn't get busy!
Blue side trail is tons of fun for the kids, little more challenging for older adults (bring your walking sticks).
Trails are well marked, paths are clear, wear proper gear.

My family and I love this beach everything from the warm stones to lay on (it's like hot rock therapy) to hiking around on the big rock bluffs along the shore line to snorkeling in the crystal clear waters, this beach is definitely our go to!

Breathtaking place. The hike is pretty good not too hard if you stay in marked trails. But if you want adventure you can go around the stony caves and jump around the boulders. The blue trail is pretty good. The lanscape with dense tree will transport you to a different world. Many insta worthy spots! Totally worth the drive from Toronto.

Great hike. Even late spring there’s still snow and ice in the caves so be sure to wear footwear with lots of grip. It’s a bit of scrambling over rocks in and around d the caves. So be prepared

Great place to go! Even during Covid it’s very well run.
We showed up around 11am on a Saturday and there was plenty of parking and no line to get in but about 6 cars lined up to get in when we left at 3pm.
There is a FEE per person to enter. $6.50 per adult at the door.
There’s a building with washrooms, 3 in total, and they’re clean with soap and towels.
Lots of places to stop and see the water, picnic, and hang out!
There’s also one spot with FREE charging for an EV. I was getting about 53km per hour charge. J1772 connector. Best part is that it’s the closest spot to the inside.

Peaceful

Great trail

Beautiful place. Free parking and free admission. Hiking is not for beginners as there are some rocky areas and steep incline/decline. If you are looking for a scenic one hour hike the trail around the lake is beautiful.
The website says there is 16km of trails so the park is quite big. There are beautiful views from the mountain, aswell as a another lake with a beaver dam. Very scenic park, dogs and bikes are prohibited.

I moved to Piedmont last year and discovered the trail a kilometer from my house, adjacent to Mont Olympia ski hill in Quebec. For months I hiked one section, but recently discovered it is an 8 km trail. Mostly well marked. Pretty easy day hike, or less than an hour 3.7 km loop from old train Station near the highway 117, around lac Paradis. Opportunities for some beautiful pictures.

Wow amazing little stone beach
Kids loved it
We spent two days swimming and having fun

Pancake bay. This beach is private and rarely have I run into anyone. Perfect for paddleboarding in the summer, surfing, calm waters, and absolutely stunning in winter. You see the power of Lake Superior.

Such a beautiful stone beach! I hate to tell you about it in case someone dumb about camping finds this secluded spot. Lol keep the beach clean folks...its pristine now. Gorgeous views in day time as the magnificent power of Lake Superior beats upon the rocks, smoothing their shape into perfect roundness in extraordinary colours. Breathtaking sunsets, shallow water and the occasional moose wandering through make this an ideal camping destination. Enjoy and take your garbage with You!!
