This place genuinely is amazing. From the home grown feel of the staff, who always seem to have great chemistry, to the "meat" of it all for us. Their meat selection is greatly above standard in every way. Clean cuts of every kind of meat with it already being sauced up and ready to go 🔥. Tastes so good. If your into authentic, real food and good people come here.
This store is a gem on Bloor Street, offering affordable fruits of great quality. However, I hope that additional training can be provided for one of the cashiers. She ignored customers for two minutes while attending to other errands, despite there being a lineup. Some communication in such situations would be greatly appreciated.
Great experience at the bakery! Saeed was really nice and asked what message we wanted on the cake, which he wrote beautifully. The cake design was adorable too!

I finally made my first visit to this amazing store after driving by it for over 7 years! What brought me in was the outrageous prices at Whole Foods, but I was pleasantly surprised by the fantastic selection and charming atmosphere of this place (see attched receit, same volume of ginger at wholefoods $15). The customer service was top-notch, and they had a great mix of local and international products. I will definitely be returning, especially since they carry some of the same brands as Whole Foods but at a fraction of the cost. Can't wait to come back! Oh they have a variety of garden plants to explore and procure for the incoming warmer weather.
This place has been one of my best food experiences. I've tried many dishes and pastries here multiple times and always enjoyed them. The foods have good price and excellent quality. Whenever I come here with my Persian and non-Persian friends, we all have a great time.
Love this place! Be going since I was a kid. They have the best baked goods and fresh bread. Not to mention the deli counter and butcher shop! Fresh flowers in the spring 😍

Good place to get flowers. I got these roses for $20 (18+tax). Love the wide selections they have and fair prices. Cashier even wrap them up after I asked.
Friendly, helpful staff. They still bag your groceries here! Good place to purchase items for gift basket. Has plants and seasonal decorations like wooden deer lawn ornaments. Well stocked butcher counter.

The cashier packs all your purchases into the bags, which is very convenient. There is a parking place near the store or it could easily being accessed from the local neighborhood.

It’s time to add more cashiers, it is obvious that people don’t want to use the self checkout. When you shop in an expensive store like WF you expect at least to have an exceptional service not to be directed to self checkout.

Urban Gate is honestly amazing. They have premade Ghormeh Sabzi and Ash and other delicious foods aswell as all kinds of marinated chicken flavors and fresh meat and burgers. And all of them are HALAL which is awesome! They recently opened their cafe and restaurant and it has such good vibes.👏👌✨️

I love this place they have extremely competitive prices & always have good deals on fruit! + They always have a really nice selection of flowers. It can get a little crowded in here but who cares, I saw a review that said something about the cashiers being mean… that Is not true! They are lovely.

Decent prices except for the bananas which you can buy cheaper at any supermarket like Metro. Most produce is fresh as it rotates fast. Customer service is their weakness; 1 cashier doesn’t even respond to your hello and doesn’t help to bag groceries even though she’s finished cashing in items and there’s a line up. 🔝
I’m an everyday long time shopper. The staff is always super helpful and always nice. Unfortunately yesterday I got food poisoning from the hot bar. This would be the third time in the last 3 months from the same hot bar and location. There needs to be better management for that particular station so someone else doesn’t get sick or worse. I’ll be back, I just won’t be eating from that hot bar.
The best quality fruits! I got some kiwis from here for my birthday and they are the juiciest and sweetest kiwis ever. The family who runs this shop is also so kind & awesome. Highly recommended!
I visited this place just 10 minutes ago, and I must say I'm filled with regret. The prices are absolutely outrageous, and the conduct of the staff is simply disgraceful. I experienced racism firsthand, and the overall atmosphere was unpleasant. While a customer was innocently coughing on her arm at the checkout, the Chinese women cashier gave her a disapproving look after putting her mask back on. The employees couldn't help but laugh at her. It's important to note that everyone should consistently wear their masks, or not wear them at all, rather than giving judgmental glares. Moreover, it's essential for the staff to enhance their language skills, particularly in Canada's national languages, English or French.
As a business owner myself, I understand the importance of effective communication. This experience has left me disappointed, and I strongly believe that improvements are necessary. There are plenty of other options available that provide better service and value for money.

Great market for BC apples, especially off-season. Where do you find gala apples for 49c per lb? Smaller than Country Farms on Steveston but better pricing on all veggies.
This place has been around since the dawn of time, or at least since the late 60s, and is my goto produce stand in Richmond. Good prices, good selection. Staff are a bit brusque but helpful when asked.
Formerly Young Brothers. Some staff is the same but the vibe is different - less crowded and wider aisles. Good values.
The staff are polite and the store is clean and nice. But you folks need a more reasonable way to price your products!

Nice and cosy place to find fresh products. They're full of customer service skills and helpful to find items I needed. Especially, Aziz was helping me out with price checks and browsing the vegetables.
Top quality produce, bread, and a great range of grocery items. Almost every visit I notice some brand of product I like, which I don't see at the big box stores. Prices are excellent. A dependable neighborhood grocery, old school.
Really nice, welcoming, and affordable place. All employees are super polite, and friendly. I interacted with one of the employees, Mr. Azizul. He went above and beyond to assist me with the groceries. I highly appreciate that....thank you so much....
So disappointing. I walked into the store today where I have been shopping at for years, and saw that more than half of the checkout stands had been removed. The update from the cashier who rang up my groceries was that it has been decided that self check-out kiosk will replace the cashier's at this quaint neighbourhood grocery store. What an enormous loss for those of us who shop this Whole Foods, in the West End. This is definitely not the demographic that will benefit in anyway from this change. I for one shop here and pay higher prices, because of the excellent customer service, small neighbourhood feel, and the tradition of having an actual person that rings through my groceries and actually bags them. Definitely not the right decision for this location and clientele.
I visit this market weekly. They always have a good variety of fruits and vegetables, fresh and good quality. Prices are not bad either.

They had everything I wanted on my fruits and vegetables shopping list and it was much less expensive than in grocery stores
Worse place worst owner! He borrowed money from my husband because he couldn’t pay his mortgage and when we asked for it he been saying come this day, that day and time passed by and finally its my husband’s mortgage time and he has no work as he is injured, this owner has no sympathy and made us calling him back and forth and finally he said he sent the money by email transfer and we were waiting for it and no email transfer at all…. He also said he will send us screen shot of it and never did. What a cheat basted! I don't know why he even running the business if he has to borrow money from customers…just close the store and stay home! No honesty at all and full of lies!!!

The produce is good quality and fair price, for a small independent grocer. They have Avalon milk and products plus other necessities. It's always be busy so they must be doing everything right 👍

I want to give this market 5 stars for their friendly staff and affordable produce, but lately there has been a lot of quality problems! I have bought two bags of potatoes that turned out to be moldy and there’s often rotten fruit/veg on display. Not good!
Walked quite a distance to the only grocer around in this car-land of a neighbourhood, only to find it closed when it says open on Google, with no explanation for why. Don't waste your time :(
Never open. I've seen it open once all summer. Would love to support local and would love to see some consistant hours. Very disappointing to not have a place in the neighbourhood for fresh produce.
it is evident that this store focuses on purchasing locally…there are groceries that fit our budget….this Broadway store offers a variety of products and each time we enter there is a friendly welcoming..

Don't waste your time coming to shop. Open at 11:00, but as usual they are closed at 11:15. Support a business that cares about their customers. Shop elsewhere.

Everything is neatly organized and there are big baskets that hold various food items. The food has ALWAYS been fresh when we buy it from here and they have everything we need.
The workers are always cleaning up and refill the level of food to make it look clean and stocked. There are 2 checkout counters that make it a lot more efficient when it gets busy. We are almost always cashed out by the older lady and she is always SO nice to us.
We are super grateful and so thankful to her and the way we feel when leaving there with a bag full of delicious and fresh food.

The go to place for me when I buy fresh produce. Their kale is pretty fresh and lasted almost 2 weeks before it started to spoil. The owners, especially the chinese lady at the checkout, is super friendly and they tend to round up to the dollar. I tried to give them what the tally rang up to and she gave me bananas instead lol.

Family Food Market is the best. The owners are the most lovely people and the foods they carry are always fresh. A great spot to get your fruits and veggies.
This is a really great place to get your Persian culinary essentials, and various other hard-to-find ingredients. In particular, they have loads of dried herbs at excellent prices, including dried mint, which is very difficult to find, outside of Indian and middle eastern markets. (No mahaleb, here, though, unfortunately.) You can stock your entire ۷ س (haft seen), at this place, too. Additionally, their produce section is small but very well-organized and well-stocked (and clean), and they have a very good bakery, as well as a fairly good variety of packaged foods). As a bonus, there's a fish tank to keep your kid entertained, while you shop.
The venerable BLOOR FRUIT MARKET at the corner of Bloor Street West and Manning is an oasis of fresh quality and inexpensive Western & Asian fruits and vegetables attended to by a small army of hard working folks replenishing the stocks and computer sharp checkout ladies knowing the last decimal of everything. It's a preferred go-to location with better quality items at lower prices than our behemoth grocery chains.
Really like this store. Used to mostly go to Phil's Place in the basement, but I've found Family Foods to have much better service, and often they have better pricing and quality. They almost always have what I'm looking for as well.

I finally checked out this place after driving by it on numerous occasions. They offer a variety of fresh local vegetables, fruits, organic vegetables/fruits, potted plants, flowers, potted orchids, and grocery items. I was impressed by their large variety of vegetables including Asian veggies, & some I hadn’t even seen before. Their prices are reasonable and look decent. I bought a watermelon which I would avoid. It was mushy on the inside. It’s not only at this place but I found it to be the same everywhere. It’s because it’s overripe.
They are located right across from the Richmond Nature Park with free parking out front. They even have shopping carts to lighten the load. A bonus! The place was clean and service was okay. A great place to grab that missing ingredient to create a meal or buy flowers for a special occasion. It’s rare to find a market that sells a lot of local produce & fruit. They have the best cherry tomatoes ever. I get 2 to 4 pints per week. Large tomatoes are awesome as well.
I have been going here to get our Fruits and Vegetables since we moved to west Richmond. The produce is always fresh and the prices are comparable or even less that other grocers. We are happy to support our local small businesses.
I come an hour away to get here. Super friendly staff and cashiers. Food is over the top for freshness. Meat dept can't be beat. Do come here and check it out. Always a 5 star from me.
I have been shopping for my fresh produce from Family Food Market for years and have nothing but positive feedback. The owners and staff are so friendly and get to know their customers. Products are fresh and seasonal, with Ontario grown items marked making it easy to shop local. Produce always lasts much longer than when I buy at the grocery store. This will continue to be my go to spot for my weekly grocery shop!
Small and cosy but very effective. Good selection of everything you expect in a grocery store including coffee, tea and pastries and even cakes. Worth mentioning is also the organic fruits and vegetables section. The overall appearance of the store has nicely improved over the last ten years. Really like to sit on the patio and to shop there. Parking is free.
South and South East Asian cooking essentials like curry leaves and pandan at very fair prices, along with a slew of other grocery, pantry, and sundry staples makes this tiny Sri Lankan grocery store an easy recommend 👍🏽👍🏽

Such a wonderful clean store - large selection of fresh fruit. We stopped in on our way to bike the sea wall, and grabbed some fruit and coconut water to take with to lunch. The cashier I spoke to was so nice, we had a wonderful conversation. Sometimes it’s the little things that make your day, and that was one of them. Fresh mango at the sea wall, a perfect lunch.
Fairly nice place, as a whole foods you'd expect about as much. Wide selection of options both fresh and not. The deli had some choice fresh sandwiches too. The staff was approachable and all in all a good experience. A little pricey but it's also core downtown.

Excellent place to buy BC fruit, vegetables, meat and cheese. Everything we buy from them is excellent. Knowledge staff that can tell you where products are from as well. Would recommend if you want local fresh products.

I support independently owned businesses whenever possible and Family Food Market fits the bill perfectly being owned and run by a lovely family. This is the best fruit and vegetable stand in the St. Lawrence Market. Wei and her husband are incredibly hard working and keep this place busy and full of excellent produce. There have been times when I have picked up an item, and then Wei has looked at it and replaced it with something fresher. Shop local! It makes a difference!

An amazing local neighborhood market. Well stocked, with fresh local fruit & veggies. The owner mentioned that local free range organic meat and grass fed cheese is coming soon. High end, good quality and a fair price. It feels like it’s under new management.
A farm market that sells daily fresh produce with lots variety. It’s old aged market place almost like a farm but you get freshness! Parking is not a problem as they have their own parking lot. It’s not very bright like a supermarket but you come here for freshness. It’s also cold here in winter as they leave the doors open. I used to live nearby and always come here for fresh produce.

Love stopping by for fresh local produce. They also have wonderful baked goods and local meats. During the winter months stop by for tomatoes that actually taste like a tomato instead of the tasteless supermarket variety.
Excellent quality produce all year, especially the tomatoes! Honours pay system. Try the green beans and cukes too!
I buy my fruits and vegetables here 99% of the time. The store is small but it has almost all I need. Lukas and Hannah are friendly and helpful. I like the staff at the check out as well. A few times I went back with problem fruits (looked good on the outside but bad on the inside) to see Lukas already speaking on the phone with the supplier about the problem. That's an indicator of how much they care about their products and they act fast once a problem is spotted. The prices are very good compared with the near-by Save-on-Foods and Safeway. Lukas and Hannah are like friends to me now.
This has to be one of the best produce markets in all over Richmond. Probably better than Langley Farm Market if I had to compare.

Had an awesome time at Urban Gate. Came around with the family and as Persians ourselves, we've always love to go out and try whatever Persian restaurants we hear about. I'd say it's been a while since we've had this great of an experience. The service was so friendly and they went out of their way to make sure our dinner went smoothly. The food was delicious and the portion sizes were pretty big (I could feel myself about to explode by the end of it.) It cost a pretty penny but it was 100% worth it and I'd definitely come again. Also, don't be weary about bringing your kids because they do have a kids menu and this is more of a restaurant than a bar, I'd say.
