Very disappointed with quality and quantity of takeout order. The Char Kuey Teow filled about half of the container and would only make sense if it was someone else’s unfinished food that they had packed to go. I did not touch this out of food safety concerns. The Rendang Lembu was also lacking in quantity, I expected more from an almost $19 item. To clarify, all the photos of the food were as they were straight out of their take out containers and had not been touched.

Hawker style where you get a table and then go up front to order. They'll call your number and you'll pick it up yourself. There is a plate return station on the side.

Prices are really good! Around ~$15 per dish.

Rendang beef - super aromatic. Not spicy at all and they didnt ask for spice level so not sure if you can tailor it. Lots of brisket pieces. This is such a good price compared to other places that serve rendang beef.

Mee goreng - full of flavor. Chicken pieces not dry.

Satay beef hor fun - not fresh hor fun so it's thicker and not springy. The soup is so thick! Almost like a bowl of satay sauce. It was good in the beginning but got too rich and hard to finish. I would not order this again.
Prices are reasonable. Food came out fast. The restaurant is clean and spacious. Roti Canal is a must try. Bread is flavourful and tasty. We also had laksa, hainanese chicken, gado gado, char kuey teow, and sambal egg, but we feel like they are missing flavors and don't fit our taste bud.

First time to try - should have some room of improvement in the future. It is a self-serve with limited services such as help to bring food from the counters or help to setup the table for u. My family ordered 2 noodles / 1 rice + 6 pieces skewers(chicken/beef). Tastes of food generally not bad , the satay skewers were just as expected. Noodle is not very strong taste of spices soup - just enough ! However, I missed the dark soy sauce - Singapore style one !! in my hainanese chicken rice 😅. Well, good to try !

I must confess that Singaporean fare was an uncharted territory for me until recently. An enticing local joint promising home-style Singaporean dishes seemed the perfect venue to dip my toes into this food culture. When the much-recommended Hainanese chicken first arrived at my table, its unassuming presentation gave me pause. However, any reservations vanished with the first bite - the dish's deceptively simple appearance belies an extraordinary burst of flavors, particularly when enhanced with the accompanying bouillon, which is a distilled symphony of taste. The Roti Canai also won me over with its flaky exterior, moist interior, and outstanding curry dip. The experience has sparked a new culinary fascination for me, and I can confidently say that it won't be long before I find myself returning.
Food was tasty and place was quite busy. Service was good but limited. It’s more like a fast food joint where you order and pay first. Then they call your number and you go up and grab your tray of food.

A order and pickup the food at the counter restaurant serving Malaysian type dishes. Got the beef rendang and the portion was very generous with lots of meat (more beef than potatoes). The satay noodle was very flavorful. The satay nutty tofu was big portion as well. Recommend going with more people if you want to try different dishes.

Surprised to find super delicious and genuinely authentic Singaporean food in a food court! The staff were very helpful with making recommendations, and the pictures and descriptions made it easy to figure out what to get. Definitely will be back to work my way through the rest of the menu!

My friend introduced me this place as I ‘d like to find real Singaporean cuisine. I am surprised as my dish was tasty and felt exactly similar to what I tried before when I visited Singapore. I tried Lasi Lemak at this kiosk. The fried chicken was crispy outside, juicy inside. If you want to find a genuine Singaporean taste, you won’t let it down when stopping by this kiosk. Definitely want to bring my friend here again. Good job, Shiok Express
Cafeteria quality food for restaurant pricing. You order at the front, you get a ticket with a number on it. Once your number is alerted, you will have to go and pick up from the side counter. Customer service was fine. The beef was super dry. I would not recommend this dish. Reading previous reviews, this seems to be a reoccurring theme with the beef. The roti was good and well done. The noods are ok, but I’ve had better at green and oak. I will come back to try the chicken rice, but I would not go out of my way to do so.
Today was the first time I tried Singapore Hawker and it was amazing! I saw that there were 2 locations but I decided to go to the one in Burnaby as it was closer. The reviews weren’t the greatest which made me a little bit skeptical but to my surprise this has to be one of the best restaurants I’ve visited in a long time. I decided to order takeout on the phone as it was busy at the time. The person on the phone was really professional while taking my order and when I arrived the staff were welcoming and nice. Even though I didn’t dine in, as soon as I stepped inside the restaurant I could feel the atmosphere as like I was back in Singapore which really brought back many memories.

The food was amazing as well. The takeout order was packed really nicely which made my commute home so much more easier. Everything tasted really high quality and reminded me of real Singaporean food. I would recommend visiting this place if you are around the area and I am definitely coming back for dine in.

Stopped by for a quick snack while shopping in the mall. Ordered the chwee kueh and otak otak. The otak otak was medium spicy. The chwee kueh had the sambal on the side so you can control the spiciness. Both were really yummy.

Always have a long line up. Went at 3:30pm today to beat the rush. Ordered the Singapore Laksa and lemon tea. The lemon tea didn’t have much lemon flavors even though I stabbed it so many times. The laksa was delicious and good portion for the price!
Contrary to the negative reviews, I decided to give this place a try and was pleasantly surprised. They've created a food court-style setting to keep prices reasonable, and the dishes are delicious. The curry was especially noteworthy for its thick texture and generous portions of meat. The staff were friendly and attentive, which made for a great dining experience. It seems that the management has taken steps to improve their operations based on past feedback. In my opinion, this restaurant offers an authentic Southeast Asian taste at an affordable price with welcoming service.
Disappointing food.
Rice was dry and beef in curry was dry and chewy almost like beef jerky!
Roti were soaked with oil not crispy. The rest of the food were mediocre at their best.
In comparison, their Coquitlam location is much better.

I was excited about the new location since it’s a bit closer to me.

It was nice that I was able to call and reserve a table because the walk in wait is about 45 min during dinner time.

I think I need to try again in a few months when the cooks get used to cooking because I feel like everything tasted sweeter than usual? but still tasty!

The wings were my favourite

One sentence summary: spicy with no flavour. Do not recommend.

Ordered 2 Laksas, one with thick noodle and one with yellow noodle, 1 Roti Pratap, and for drinks kalamansi and rose milk.

Laksa: a smallish bowl for the price. The first spoonful of the soup to taste test was bland and unassuming. The shrimps were split down the middle to perhaps increase your feeling of getting value for your meal? Either way, wasn't impressed. The dish felt it was missing soul.

Roti Prata: the roti came as one piece, and Shiok didn't even try to cut it up for us to share. The roti itself was also doughy and didn't have the correct crisp factor. Wouldn't recommend it.

Rose milk: strange tasting beverage that has the essence of rose in it, but feels manufactured. Wouldn't recommend.

Kalamansi: has a spicy aftertaste, also would not recommend.

We tried this place on a whim, and I wholeheartedly regret coming. I would recommend going to Singapore Hawker close to Coquitlam centre rather than Shiok Express. Worth the trip over this highway robbery.

Fast and efficient service! It's run like a fast-food restaurant. You first register at the cashier counter and wait to be seated. When a table is ready, you order and pay at the cashier counter, get seated, and wait to be called to get your food. Staff members are friendly and speak fluent English.

Food was tasty. Portions are generous. Good Malaysian curry at medium spiciness. Skewers are grilled well, juicy and tender. Authentic laksa noodles. Worth the wait and will visit again!

After a hike in Minnekhada Park, the Missus and I had a late lunch at the Singapore Hawker. We have heard and read great reviews but unfortunately, we were very disappointed.

The restaurant is run cafeteria style where you order your food, pick up your food on trays and return your trays with the dirty dishes. We had ordered the roti for an appetizer, nyonya yellow curry chicken on ginger rice, nyonya rendang lembu on ginger rice and assam tofu with mixed vegetables.

We were given 2 serving bowls of which both were still wet inside. One had a wet rice kernel inside and the other bowl had a spot of dried curry sauce on the lip. We found the roti sauce tasteless and the Missus remarked the curry chicken was not very tender. The beef rendang was over cooked as most of the beef was disintegrated. The accompanying vegetables in the assam tofu dish were only green beans and a couple pieces of tomato & okra.

The service was acceptable, pricing was reasonable but the food lacked the "wow" taste factor for us. We will search for other Singaporean eateries.

Love this place! Every time I have visited it has always been busy, though never had to wait for a table. As you enter, the staff encourages you to find a table first. You are then handed a menu and you will order and pay at the till. You'll be given a number to pick up your food once ready.
We ordered family style amongst 4 people. We had left overs. We were stuffed and satisfied. We ordered: roti canai, kari lembu, gado gado, mee goreng and hainese chicken. These are our go to dishes so there were no surprises, we knew they'd be good. And it did not disappoint.
The staff is friendly and helpful. They brought some of our dishes to our table after going up to pick up a couple times. They call your number as each dish is ready. They even came by afterwards to help us clean up.
We spent $100 for all our dishes between 4 people. Very reasonable for this day and age.

This time, my friends suggested that there has a good Singapore restaurant in Coquitlam therefore we are going to try it.
Actually it was like a food court style restaurant, you order and pay first at the counter, find a table and pick up yourself when the food is ready or somehow they will bring it to your table if you order a lot.
The foods we try is very common but delicious, the beef and chicken satay are both smell good, the hainanese chicken is very tender, the curry sauce is tasty but the beef brisket is too lean. The noodles are somehow salty, they still have so much ingredients inside. The quality and the quantity is over average, you spend every penny is worth what you get.
Overall the waitresses are very hard working and very polite, when the customers leave, they clean up the table right away. That’s why they keep the restaurant tidy and clean.
They also mentioned that they would open the second location in Burnaby therefore I don’t need to travel a long way to Coquitlam.

The taste of the Singapore Laksa is still lingering inside my mouth, each sip was so good, i don’t have words to describe the taste and how I felt after eating it. A must try dish when you visit this place.
The curry chicken wings was very tasty.
For desert we had Pisang Goreng
Have to tell about the service provided at the reception and at the table. The boy gave the menu card as soon as we entered, the girl took our order and was so kind.
Everything from the service to food all top 5, visit at least once and you will never forget the tasty food served. Especially 🥰SINGAPORE LAKSA 🥰

As a person that stayed in Singapore for two years, this is the most authentic Laksa I have ever had outside of Singapore! Great taste and they cook it when you order so the noodles are not soggy and the temperature is hot! Will definitely come back again and highly highly recommended!!!

The Prawn Noodles had a flavourful shrimp/seafood broth. Very tasty. Chwee Kueh, which I believe are steamed rice cakes with a sweet radish topping and sambal. This was a little firmer than what I’ve had in Singapore but still acceptable. The sweet radish topping and sambal made the dish. The calamansi juice tasted nice and refreshing. Pretty authentic tasting Singapore food in a food court setting.

The prices were reasonable; ~$12.95 for the Prawn Noodles, ~$3 for the Calamansi juice. I can’t remember the price of the Chwee Kueh, I think it was about $4. Service was friendly and fast. Portions were generous enough that I couldn’t finish the Prawn Noodles. Lots of parking available
