No real organisation, persian part is just an assirtiment of pots and pans. Just a bit of everything but nothing that makes one go "oh that's interesting, I wanna know more" (which there isn't more).
This museum is located in the house that Karl Marx was born in. It has lots of information about Marx, his life, his ideologies, etc. There aren’t very many artifacts, it's mostly informative displays and some photos with written information to read. Expect to spend a lot of time reading, as the majority of the museum is text. It has a very modern and artistic feel to it. The museum is three floors and there is also a garden.

Ich habe ein lustiges Stück mit zwei Männern gesehen. Leider war das gesprochene Wort oft so leise, sodass ich nichts verstehen konnte. Ein wenig technische Unterstützung wäre also angebracht.
Hatten einen wunderbaren Abend mit Willi Astor. Sound in der Halle war gut, alles gesehen, leicht zu finden und parken auch kein Problem. Wenn mich wieder mal ein Abendprogramm anspricht, Hugenotten Halle is the place to go 🙂
Für Veranstaltungen finde ich die Hugenottenhalle gut. Für Getränke und Essen steht ein Catering zur Verfügung. Vielleicht könnte der Veranstalter auch auf der Webseite mal angeben das auch das Parkhaus im Isenburg Zentrum genutzt werden kann. Das Parkhaus dort schließt nach Ende der Veranstaltung in der Hugenottenhalle erst 1 Stunde später die Tore.
The museum is laden with information about Karl Marx, his life and ideology. That said, it relied too much on text for my taste, which was seldom brought to life by the displays. Some of the English text was also quite poorly formulated and had to be read a few times to get the gist of. The small garden at the back was a highlight, providing a break from the monotony inside, but not quite enough to save the experience for me.
Very nice museum, i was really impressed by the huge collection of artifacts. Specially the Roman Tombs are insane. You can visit at least two to three hours here.. Also, they have a multimedia show at 12, extra cost, around these Roman tombs. So why 4 stars and not 5? Well, German signs all over the place, hardly anything in other language. You can get a free audio tour though. Another thing, the multimedia show, we took the Dutch language guide, but the sound in German was so loud, you could here it through the headphone. Also context about what you see is erm... Nowhere, honestly i had no idea what this show was about.... So yes, fantastic museum, could be better if they think more about other languages....
Berlin’s Botanic Garden is truly large and diverse with 20 000 different species of plants on 43 hectares. Some of the paths are under construction, but the stroll is nevertheless rewarding. Several clean toilets are available. Very worth the visit even when the weather is bad, thanks to the several greenhouses. They are well maintained and the routes are nicely guided. Although The Botanic Garden is not centrally situated, it is easily reached with U- or S-Bahn. The day ticket costs 6 euros.
I wish there was a warning about how much of the park is currently closed and under construction. It was still nice to see, considering it was the off season. It is not stroller or wheelchair accessible. It would be also nice if the descriptions were in multiple languages considering it being a tourist attraction
It was amazing museum. I wish we could see the sculptures in origin locations. But the museum is good idea to protect them. My advise that you should take your ticket before the visiting day. Because you couldn’t find any ticket in same day. It takes nearly two hours.
Very disappointing museum. A couple interesting pieces like the 3d city model showing the war damage but many exhibits are just a waste of time. Having a group of artists doing sketches and yakking away in the cloister ruined that experience. To make it even worse, one of these "artists" was spread eagle in the middle of the aisle with no respect for paying customers trying to walk through. Also, the loud employees taking all over the place was irritating. I could barely hear the audio guide in the first room because of the screaming gift shop lady. Save your money and go see something else.
Nice place where you can spend almost the whole day with your family , friends or maybe alone. It's a large place so please take some food and water which keeps you energetic. Diverse species plants here and there are also several greenhouses and a museum. If you are a plant-lover then go with it. It's a magnificent place. I love the cactus area and also the greenhouse.

One of the most interesting museums I have ever been to. Would surely recommend to anyone who likes history. Alot to learn and much beauty to admire. It took us about 3 hours without rushing and we were able to walk through all the exhibits.
TIP: Make sure to carry an A4 size bag if you would like to carry some water or any thing else inside with you.
There is a coat check area and lockers for bigger bags. You just need 1-2 Euro to access them which you can get back at the end of your tour. Enjoy!

A wonderful museum, not so big, but very well organized. It contains a lot of unique collectibles and antiquities, and they have a very wonderful gift shop. The special thing about this museum is that many of the important antiquities were originally stolen and they claim that these pieces were purchased from some merchants or owners, but what I cannot understand is: Who owns the Ishtar Gate!! They make millions of euros every month from possessions that do not even belong to them.
When you would like to visit a another demension, please visit this museum. Lovely roman period related items, statues and thing they had to make their lives better. Really recommand it. You also have faults to store your loaded bags as well. They have little phones to listen to the history of each object. You can spend 1-2 hours here. Enjoy!

Magnificent! The biggest greenhouse I have ever seen in my life. The plants are well presented by different zones. The collection of cactus is impressive. The building itself is nice. Unfortunately, the Botanic museum is closed for renovation and we have not walked in the garden because of the rain, but the greenhouse itself is worth visiting, and the price of 6 euros is really very moderate for the volume. And it is open on Monday when the majority of museums are closed.
Good and interesting collection for a small museum. Mithras exhibition was nice. Texts were in German so consider that if you want to visit.

Had the Island Museum pass and still needed to reserve the entry time. Recommend that you plan ahead and buy your ticket ahead of time and reserve your time slot. Daily tickets sold out fast.

Not a bad place. Not too big but enough to see. Pictures attached.
It has very good disability access and the staff are very friendly.
You need to leave your bags in lockers and need a euro or a 2 euro coin, which is returned after you take your stuff back out.

A very nice museum. However, since reducing in size, it was very crowded inside. Even though it's necessary to book a time slot, it seems that these slots are still very full, so it was a bit overwhelming with how many people were inside at one time. The islamic culture section was really beautiful, and the main halls too of course.

Good museum and lots of historical information about this city of Trier. We enjoyed visiting the place as a tourist with our family and learned a lot. Highly recommended place for families.
Book in advance! Don’t be intimidated by the idea of a guided tour in an art gallery, it actually makes the whole experience much better. I am not an art expert but the context and story behind the art you see makes it all very interesting. Not the mention the actual brief history of the bunker which you get to hear at the start. Initially I thought that 90 min might be a bit much but in reality it was not enough. Our guide Alana was excellent.

Museum has so much collection of historical antique items.
Ishtar gate is the main attraction and it's beautiful and huge.
Also the Roman market fascade is huge and it's well preserved in museum.
Audio guide helps in getting the information easily about all the artifacts.

Definitely worth a visit! They do guided tours in "presentations" which change themes and art. Tour is really interesting and has a good mix of art and history of the building. The art isn't really to my taste, I thought a lot of it was quite pedestrian, but there were a couple of cool pieces. The building itself is very cool and interesting so just being inside is worth the admission! I don't have any pics as you aren't allowed to take any. Note - you MUST book. Tour in advance. You cannot just show up
This was an unexpected museum for me. I was not going to go in. I got a ticket and enjoyed the displays. I can only read English. There was a lot of information and I enjoyed how it was displayed. The garden was wonderful too.

We happened upon this musuem by chance and glad we made the stop. Interesting history and artifacts from the Zeppelin era.
If you truly want to understand the rich history of Trier and the surrounding regions, this museum is a must-visit.

Really impressive and extensive collection covering the history of Trier and its surroundings. Starting in prehistoric times and ending with the phrase "after which Trier became an insignificant border town in the Moselle area." The history of Trier is a very interesting one which is obviously all due to its Roman past. As late capital of the western roman empire and overall very rich town in these times many things have been well preserved and the museum does a good job of giving an impression of the city back then. There's lots of information well laid out, however it is mostly in German. If you do not speak German I definitely recommend the free audio guide available also in french English and Dutch.
I guess it's fun to see. Marx was born here and lived here for about a year. It's inexpensive and a quick stop if you do not read everything. However, the information is quite extensive if you're interested in all of it (mostly deals with the effects of Marx's work) and it is laid out logically.
As someone who loves ancient history, I’d give this 6 stars if I could. Absolutely spectacular statuary, mosaics and the fantastic gold hoard. Even better than the museum in Split, which is saying something.

Interesting finds are displayed in this museum that is housed in a former monastery. The building itself is interesting as well as the different archeological findings from Frankfurt and the region. It's a pity the installations end with the early medieval period (I was told the rest is in the Historical museum).
And if your German is not so good, you won't have much luck: there is almost no English descriptions anywhere...

FANTASTIC museum in a former bunker that houses the Boros family collection of contemporary art. The bunker was originally built in 1942 as an air raid shelter. In the 90s it was briefly a club (and shows up in some of Wolfgang Tillman's photos). Our guide was terrific in explaining the Boros' collecting philosophy. NOTE: You must book well in advance for tickets - it's only open a few days a week and only accessible with a guided tour. And finally, would have given this 5-stars were photos allowed.
Such a special place to experience art. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and continuously gave suggestions for other exhibitions to visit so we could see more of the artists' works. Great to learn about the various eras of the bunker itself, from bomb shelter to fetish club to gallery space.

Trier is the birthplace of Karl Marx, the German philosopher, economist and socialist revolutionary. A few meters from the city centre is the baroque house where he was born. Today, the property is owned by SDP ( Socialist Democratic Party). It is converted into a museum that showcases the important works of Karl Marx and the influence they had on society. The displays are both in German and English. There is an adjoining garden too. No waiting time. Ticket can be bought at the entrance.

This private collection of art was challenging for me. The building is the most interesting thing to see on this tour. Our guide for the English tour was excellent. I liked the paintings from the 1970s located on one of the upper floors. For me, I want more than the name of the artist on the floor for context. Expecting typical museum didactics in this unconventional space and art collection may be too much to ask.
Very interesting place to visit! Exhibitions change every 4 years, and all the tours are always guided, so get your tickets in advance! There’s lots of contemporary art, but the most interesting part for me was the history of the bunker itself.

A very well preserved remains of the town Trier history.3 floors . Recommended to visit if you are in town.
Such a unique experience. Extraordinary. Worth the stop.
The entrance is for free but you can contribute donating cash for them. It is a nice attraction. They have some models of Zeppelins airships and Lufthansa aircraft. You can discover a little of the Zeppelin story and may buy some books about that. You can also do a VR experience with glasses available in the exposing room.

A simple but very informative museum about the history of Zeppelin Airships. The small village of Zeppelinheim was purpose built for the Zeppelin workforce who built and operated these wonderous machines in the field now occupied by Franfurt airport. A nearby playground even has a Zeppelin climbing frame ~ wunderbar!

A small exhibition room with free entry. You may drop by if there are some exhibitions that interest you when it is open. It won't take up too much of your time but sometimes it could surprise you.

Beautiful, though relatively small, museum that gives a great introduction to the story of the bible. Both testaments separately.

What a big disappointment... Felt like I lost my time and my money and could have use it to visit another museum.. The exposition has nothing spectacular, it's kid friendly sure but not sure they will learn anything relevant....
Fantastic experience, friendly and kind staff. This is a medieval Carmelite monastery with an archaeological exhibition. Only lack ventilation during the summer, very hot and stuffy environment. Very well organized collection.
Small volunteer run museum centered around the inventor of the famous air ships. Some really interesting things on display and very knowledgeable people to answer questions you may have. Especially cool is the 3d walkthrough you can do with a quest headset. Admission is by donation.

Amazing building by architectural design and great exposition of contemporary art. It worth of waiting for few months reservation.

This is a quite gender ideology focussed exhibition without much influence of Christian faith. My impression is they miss all importent content completely and include misleading and false statements both in detail and through their presentation design. This can not be recommended.

Google maps says open on a Tuesday (2pm) and I’ve arrived to find it closed with no special notice on the door. Very disappointed
The museum emerged as an independent institute from the Archaeological Department of the Historical Museum. The digital table was a great attraction for my kids, some quizzes were very interesting.
This is a small museum but packed full of information. There are old news reel and video (all in German) shown at various times. It was interesting to find out that the Zeppelins were also used for luxury air travel to many destinations. At our visit, this museum did not charge an entrance fee, but donations are appreciated.

Porticus; It is a not so big one-room gallery built on a small island in the Main river. Looking at the exhibition themes under the control of the curators, the gallery is like a dance floor where they send a message saying "Look how bad it is out there, see what the artists exhibiting and what they are saying ..."
Absolutely boring from beginning to end. Nothing in foreign language, only in German. Very disappointing for THE city museum...

I loved that this was here for us to check out on the Sabbath. I was sad it was not an awesome as I wanted it to be. The Old Testament section is small. Only one room and unfortunately none of it in English. The New Testament did have a lot of English for you to read.
If this is a way for us Christians to share Gods Word I wish it was better taken care of. I wish they have devices in multiple languages too.

Situated in the middle of a housing estate this museum is a little off the beaten track. However upon arrival you are welcomed by the staff who speak with great knowledge in German English or Dutch.
