Best Golf clubs in Spain

A nightmare !
I had organized a golf game with friends. We tried to book online on the golf website. Each time at the end of the procedure, the reservation amount is withdrawn from my account and then in the seconds that follow added back with the message that the operation could not be finalized. I tried with a Spanish card and another card two days in a row. The second day we called the club and got a certain David. We reported the problem to him and asked to book two departures. As we were unable to book online, we asked him to give us the price for online booking. What he agreed to do. When we showed up on the day of the reservation, David was not working...so I explained the situation to his colleague and the problems with the reservation system. He told me that the system was working and that it was me who had the problem. When I told him that his colleague David had given me the online rate over the phone. He told me that his colleague could not grant this rate and that I had to pay the full price. At that moment, faced with so much arrogance, I lost my cool. At no time did this employee take into consideration my problem which was real. No, this employee was assuming that Santa Maria's online reservation system is foolproof and that his colleague is doing things that he cannot do and that it is the customer who must bear the consequences. We are at degree zero of “customer care”. Besides, when we enter the pro shop, there is not a smile. I didn't give up and refused so much that the employee called his manager. He explained that he was dealing with a poorly educated and unhappy customer. Finally, on the phone the manager gave us the price of the online rate. All this for 15. € difference!!!
An extremely unhappy customer, a bad review on Google. Such a waste. The course is interesting but with greens in a terrible state and completely dry fairways. The full price is €65 in low season. If you add the price of the buggy at €40 that makes €85 per person. This price is frankly not reasonable. There are alternatives a few kilometers away and better maintained and less expensive land.

DON’T GO. My father has just returned from a golf trip with his golf society. On the first day whilst at this course, they had a large amount of money stolen from them whilst on the 16th tee. The staff did not care. They did nothing, didn’t report to the police.

Great place to play golf and to enjoy life after golf. Confortable premises, nice course and helpful staff and service crew.

Our main issue was the pace of play ahead. The course was far too busy. It took >3 hours to play 10 holes. When we reached the 11th there were 4 groups playing it. We gave up and headed in at this point and it appeared to be a similar story throughout the remainder of the back 9 with multiple groups on every hole. Expressed disappointment about this to pro shop who couldn’t care less and were very dismissive.

Cheapish green fee and some fun golf holes but general condition of course was poor - divoted fairways, pitch marked greens and little sand in all bunkers we visited.

Golf buggy seemed like it was on its last legs too.

Overall, I would not recommend.

Fantastic golf course will definitely go back.

Course disappointing. Fairways in bad condition. The cart paths are very slippy in sections - nearly fell over a couple of times. Greens were ok. Clubhouse staff nice and helpful. Some good holes - but wouldn’t go back.

Nice course, terrible management and rental equipment.

30 minute wait after booked tee time for buggies as they had run out. Staff were out of control and not providing information to help.

Rental clubs were not worth the money to buy for the rental price we paid, only 11 clubs and total mixture of club models and shaft flex, materials and weights.

Fantastic, well presented course, a great golf challenge. Beautifully prepared. Less busy than other courses, highly recommended.

Played this course a few days ago as part of a 12 man golf tour. It is unquestionably a beautiful course with a very impressive layout but to a man we were shocked by the state of the greens, they were so incredibly poor they were almost unplayable. Add this to the fact that the clubhouse was being rebuilt and the whole place had a feel of a building site. A very disappointing start to a much anticipated yearly golf trip. I feel we should have been informed of all of this prior to our arrival. A real shame and we will not be returning soon.

Received a cold burger which to be fair was ordered medium so was pink. I couldn’t tell if it had been actually been heated all the way through or not. Waitress took 10% of price of bill as I didn’t eat it a full refund would have been nice. Caesar salad was edible and prawn pasta was bland and not clean and disgusting. Will never return

Serious golf course for serious golfers (and well worth playing!). Conditions were great but you need to be shooting darts on the front nine. The holes are carved into the mountain (incredible views and spectacular driving holes) but it means errant shots are lost balls. Those with straight drives will love it. The rest will want to avoid.

Firstly I have to say the staff and marshal were fabulous which is why I’m not giving 1 star. The reason we were there was to play golf on a top course and this was in terrible condition. The fairways were average, the bunker below average but the greens were VERY POOR. We booked in advance but paid on the day. We should have been told how poor the course was (they were doing maintenance) so we could book somewhere else. Alternatively they should have reduced the green fees. It was nearly 100 euros per person. Very disappointed.

Peaceful setting for a spot of lunch. It has a small golf shop inside and the team are helpful and relaxed.

This is a course you must play, it's idyllic, classy, beautiful, i could go on. The greens are amazing, the views also are amazing. I will would definitely come back here. Thank you. 15 h.cap

Amazing course! Greens are the best I’ve seen in the area, by a mile! The layout is tough but enjoyable. The two signature holes with a view, 9 &18, are picture worthy.

Always in love with this place, the view at the golf ⛳️ and also the food and the personal wich is well prepared and very friendly!

Lovely course, in great condition challenging but forgiving at the same time I would certainly play here again.

Acquired a voucher at a charity auction for TripleA shelter to play a 4 ball here. Arrived early and grabbed breakfast from the restaurant. Pretty basic, good quality apart from the sausages, which were more like chipolatas rather than a sausage. A nice Cumberland or some such would be a better accompaniment but that’s just my personal preference. The black pudding was a nice touch which surprised me. Toast wasn’t toasted in toaster or grill but was lightly fried on a griddle or frying pan, but again was enough to satisfy my hunger whilst watching C.EUR beat GB&I in the Hero cup(although not finished yet but I would imagine it’ll go that way) 😬🙄 I’ve not played the round yet or ventured into the Pro shop or used the facilities, but so far the staff have been very pleasant and nice/friendly towards me, so so far the morning has been nice. I will post another review once I’ve done the pro shop and driving range etc. 👍⛳️

The facilities are great, the restaurant is nice. The food is not all its cracked up to be, especially the souffle. I tried it 2 times, the second hoping the first try was a fluke. But the consistency was not up to par with the quality and price of this restaurant, on top of that the flavour was mediocre at best, tasting like boiled eggs covered in sugar while lacking the expected fluffy and airy texture, offering a foamy texture instead.Afditoonally the liquid at the bottom of the souffle was offputting and did not add to the experience. When eaten with the alcohol it is served with, the alcohol completely overshadows the flavour of the souffle and all you can taste is the alcohol with the sweetness of the souffle. the burgers are also lacking i flavour, the burger patty seems to rely purely on the rest of the burger to make it taste good. Then the entrecot stake simply tastes like an underseasoned steak, quite unremarkable and mpt so pleasant to eat. Aside from the restaurant, this place is great for golf and the food bar at the end of the ninth hole is a great place to grab a bite.

Can't believe condition of course after torrential rain for two days. Greens wonderful and fairways dry. Excellent experience.

Spain golf vacation 3/5. Coming to Costa del Sol to play some good courses. Since we are crazy golfer we had for afternoon booked another course and it was Marbella GCC :D. We tried to move our tee time, but not possible since it was packed. We arrived from Arqueros, had quick lunch and drink, hit the training areas. Checking was OK, what i did not like there in restaurant that there are empty reserved tables for members in shade and free tables for tourists on sun, when we asked if can move there answer was no that we are in Marbella we should be OK with sun. So not very polite if than manager seated group non member is shade. At 3pm we hit the course, and what a nice surprise, very playable course with many interesting and nice shots. Front nine is more hilly back nine is more flat and open. Greens were OK not great but OK as well as fairways, what I see as problem in Costa del Sol is leveling tee boxes they are not in good shape. If I have to choose signature hole I would probably go for few like 2, 7, 9 :D. Anyway interesting course wort of play, price was also good compare to quality, will definitely come again. And yes we were able to finish before dark.

We shared a wonderful meal as part of a 50th birthday and part of a fundraiser for a local Marbella /Tanzanian charity Collective Calling. Fantastic food, atmosphere and exceptional service and friendly waiters. Great atmosphere outside in the full moonlight. A memorable experience. Well done!!!

The most expensive, old buggy without gps no water and ice, not very friendly staff, very urbanized surroundings. Nice course: a ripoff as far as we are concerned!!!

I played 3 times at the Aloha. Always with my dear Fred Bert Riemslag and his wife Nelly.
The second time I was so happy to score a Hole in One on the 13th.....with all financial consequences at the end......( I survived)
I rate the Aloha a well deserved 10 or better said 5 stars. Hope to be back one day.. Aris Zwart Amstelveen the Netherlands

Great golf course. Been playing it since I was a young child, so I know it like the back of my hand.
Can be tricky for visitors, but in a good challenging way.
It's not a very long course, although from the back tees, some holes are a lot harder.
The greens are good but not the best. They are relatively soft, but have a good speed. (Played in winter.)
Quite physical walk overall, good climbs and downhills.

As for the restaurant and service, they are all very good !

I love this course, surroundings and clubhouse. Playing 18 holes on this well maintained course, and then a cuppa at the terrasse is outstanding, service is high, and the employees are competent …

Nice golf course. A bit confusing if you don't play here often as there isn't a lot of signage. Tranquil and comfortable. Stunning restaurant.

Its a beautiful club and restaurant. Very friendly staff. Holford course has dome amazing views.

Estructura abandonada a más no poder desde que Jesús Gil la construyó, llena de chavales que a saber que hacen en las escaleras.

Very comfortable and relaxing traditional Hotel style restaurant effectively in the middle of a stunning Golf course, with views beyond. Portions plentiful, and fresh fish. Good service and reasonable prices

Had not played this course for a few years . It was great then but since they spent a few million on it and now its simply magnificent. Good test and beautifully manicured and sculptured . Play here is a must
