Great experience to walk across this World Heritage Organisation designated bridge. Fantastic views from the top There are a lifts on the Getxo and Portugalete sides to make it easier to get up and down. On the Portugalete side the lift closes at 1pm and reopens between 5 and 8pm. There is a frequent car/pedestrian carriage crossing between both sides if the River Nervion. A must do visit when in Bilbao. The bridge is easily accessible from Areeta/Las Arenas metro stop.

€3 to cross the river on my motorcycle, suitable for Motorhomes also. It’s a great bridge and set in a beautiful part of Bilbao well worth a look at. Unique bridge, the crossing only takes a few minutes.

Very cool experience to walk across this bridge! The ferry is fun, but the walkway at the top is next level ;) feels safe and the staff is helpful.

don’t miss this bridge which is in world heritage site by Unesco, if you’re visiting Bilbao. It is definitely worth to go up and experience it from the top. You can use the same ticket to take the gondola, it’s included.

here is a little history description:

“ Vizcaya Bridge was designed by the Basque architect Alberto de Palacio and completed in 1893. The 45-m-high bridge with its span of 160 m, merges 19th-century ironworking traditions with the then new lightweight technology of twisted steel ropes. It was the first bridge in the world to carry people and traffic on a high suspended gondola and was used as a model for many similar bridges in Europe, Africa and the America only a few of which survive”

A wonderful architectural creation, as if it transports us to another time. Crossing the bridge you can admire the beautiful views of Bilbao and feel the breeze of the river.

Fantastic construction of this bridge! Amazing view, especially at night, with the light. Some saying it's possible to get on the top of the bridge and have a walk (safe) with a nice view to the ocean. I'm going to try next time I'm around....

It is a Calatrava bridge, it does connect two banks of the river Nervion and it looks nice from a distance.
But it falls apart, the rubber walkway and the glass around it. It pollutes the river! Incredible!
And it is not very practical, only one direction to get on and off….

Interesting bridge, to go to the other side I recommend using the Barik-card. You pay only around 0,40€ one way, in general the public transport is really cheap with it. You can buy the card in every Metro-station!

A really impressive piece of functioning history. Very glad that we made the time to spend an afternoon exploring the bridge and the area around it. If you’re in Bilbao, you should definitely put this attraction towards the top of the list.

Unique experience. Amazing history. Make sure you get the audio guide at the shop when you get the tickets. Suggest couple of hours to walk the bridge and take photos. It’s easily accessible by train with the Baric ticket

A bridge with a great view

You need a reservation that you cant get. They refuse you to let you to visit.
A waste of Time.
Interesting place to visit, impressive bridge. We crossed by car for 1,70 euros + 0,50 each person inside the car. The crossing took few minutes and it’s nice to be on the other side so easily.

This place definitely deserve a visit, the hike is steep but well maintained. Unfortunately due to its success you need to be prepared. If you want to be safe, book your ticket online a month in advance during the high season. If your a bit more like an explorer, you can still visit and see it from far and try to get a ticket. They are released at 13, 15 and 17 for the slots 10 or 20 minutes later so you have to be on site. Pro tip, try to get the tickets 2~3 minutes before the hour.
We have not climbed the observatory; we just crossed the bridge twice. Nice experience. If you don't have coins (0.50 euros per crossing), they will change you in the tourist shop.

Be careful and aware that a booking is needed to access this site. You can enter from 10 minutes before your booking slot. It is still possible to walk around and take nice pictures from a distance.
Very nice construction! This large walkway, designed by the prestigious French architect Dominique Perrault and inaugurated in 2011, is one of the architectural icons of Madrid Río. A link between the Carabanchel and Arganzuela districts, the design of this modern bridge consists of a double corkscrew-shaped metal spiral, with two arms, covered by a metallic mesh that glows during the day and is lit up at night with lamps. simulating birds and butterflies. The bridge, with a wooden floor, has benches to rest on, and is crossed by the bicycle track that runs throughout the park. I fully recommend to visit this walkway at night. You probably will take very nice photos.

Stunning history, architecture, landscaping, and garden! The bridge itself is fantastic to investigate the details of its history and construction. Great views over this part of the city! You are right above the riverwalk and the gardens as well.

The structure looks good but slightly dirty with homeless ppl around the bridge. They also covered up the glass portion of the bridge with carpet, which was the major attraction of the bridge. Pity

Beautiful. Avoid in the busy season. Hard hike back up. Really cool bridge. Humbling.
Nice view from inside the bridge and from outside to the bridge. You can have sun kissing to you while you walk, I found it very eye soothing.

Wonderfull view
You must make an online reservation to get in. You can’t even see it from a distance without it. This information isn’t available anywhere - you spend tens of minutes finding a parking spot and walking there, only to find out that you can’t get in.

Pretty nice ancient bridge over a river and a great park. You should also visit the futuristic bridge located 300 metres away from Toledo Bridge. On your way to there you will go through a really calm park along the river. Overall, a worth it destination.
The most amazing bridge I have ever seen! It's design is incredibly futuristic and the park surrounding it is really nice and calm. I would definitely recommend visiting the bridge. It is also perfect for photos.
If you don’t have online reservation in advance skip this place. An online booking that can be made by anyone (without paying) is mandatory. This is a method to refuse tourists that want to visit this place spontaneously because seats are never available for current day or next days!

My feeling after discovering Madrid by foot: wherever you look there is something amazing. If you are not seeing anything, turn around (it might be just behind) and this bridge makes no exception. The view is just great. In the evening there was a couple, singing. The architecture of the statues is just perfect
It my instinct to visit this place from San Mames by walk. Wow... Such a place finally I reached this spot after saw this from artxanda...

A beautiful historical bridge with a nice pedestrian and jogging track. Embrace the invigorating nature, river, labyrinth-like garden and the singing birds. Lovely place to visit

An old style bridge 8 wonder how up-to-date some places the bridges are just a mess. This is for a no movie.
GET A CLOSER LOOK OF THE EMBLAMTIC BUILDING THAT DON'T APPEAR ON OUR LOCAL GUIDE AS PART OF THE TURIST ATTRACTION AREAS.. GET YASELF A KOOL SELFIE.. REMEMBER YOURSELF A KEEP A FILE FOTO WHERE YOU STEPPED NOT THE BUILDINGS U SAW.
PP recibida estructura y buen sitio para pasear

Nice place, I climbed down to the river and stayed there.
Nice view and good place to walk peacefully
Navigate to here to find the easiest (still a bit of a workout) path up to the Alhambra complex.
From the bridge you can get a beautiful view of the Rio del Darro

Great modern looking footbridge made of metal that deserves a walk over the Manzanares River. It's kinda slippery when wet but nothing dangerous.
It's close to a set of slides for kids that are very funny in the Madrid Rio Park
