It's a nicely rebuilded castle. The views from the top of the mountain are astonishing with another castle close by, the river down the hill and that village built in the mountain in front of the castle. It has an interesting exhibition of medieval weapons exposed through the different chambers of the castle. If you are a castle fan this one for sure you are going to like. Also, it's nice for kids as it has some interactive games and some people dress as medieval people explaining their jobs.
This is one castle in the area not to be missed. Very informative, lots to read, good bilingual video shorts. Beautifully restored. A little difficult to move around some parts if you are mobility impaired. I didn't take the tour, but it probably would have been worth it. Cute little town adjacent to it for a bite to eat before or after your visit to the castle.
Very imposing castle standing high above the Dordogne river. Climb the road leading to the castle from the road following the river. You can then park close to the castle and walk down to enter.

We were too late to get in, but were still able to see the impressive outside views. The village is well worth the wander around too. See if you can find the passage leading to the panorama viewpoint by the fountain for an impressive view of the river valley below
Looked beautiful from the outside. Wasn't open when we were there.
A fabulous campsite in a beautiful part of the Dordogne. Worth the climb to the top from the village - steep uneven track on foot but you can drive up too.
Nice place to walk around . Lots of history. nice little restaurant at the front and one the other side of the road .not too expensive.
A fantastic castle set in a beautiful valley. It has an English written guide that I used to gain information on all the exhibits.
My children loved the Trebuchet demonstration. There are steep, winding stone staircases so beware.
The exhibits are well laid out.
A bat landed on my sandal and then hid between two floorboards: a first for me (and probably the bat).

This place is super cool, it's got a whole bunch of history and artifacts which I didn't expect to see, gifts from Queen Victoria, Charles Dickens, it was really cool and beautiful grounds. Entrance was super cheap, staff were super nice and parking was super free

One of the greatest palaces in the world. We visited this palace on 02-09-2023 in our trip to Paris from Edinburgh. This palace is huge and at the same time so beautiful. It has a huge collection of paintings of the royal family, the king and queen and their family members. Also full with antique items. It has a garden behind, which is also amazing. You need one full day to discover the in and out and all the paintings, sculpture, garden and the other things. If you come to Paris, this palace is a must visit.

So much history and so much to see. We took advantage of the breakfast option to beat the queues and it was a good idea. The crowds are always huge at this place but pretty much well behaved too. There are many guide options on offer from live to recorded self tours. We chose the gawk and wander approach. It was stunning to see the various moments in history and the hall of Guerre is a must see.
My weekend visit to Versailles Palace was exceptional. Despite weekend crowds, the experience was smooth. The Hall of Mirrors and State Apartments were breathtaking. The Gardens were a tranquil escape.

You can download the audio guide online, which enhances the experience compared to the museum’s guide. Don’t miss this regal gem!

We couldn’t book tickets advance so we just headed there hoping to get them in person. We got the passport for €31 which is more expensive than the online ticket. I would suggest to get your tickets online to save money.
It’s a huge place and an hour away from Paris so you’d probably spend the day there. We spent 4-5 hours exploring the palace and the gardens.
Everything is magnificent!

Nice small castle with good views of the countryside. Worth an hour and the art gallery enjoyable
I visited a few weeks back in the end of July! It rained and we did not get to enjoy the yards! Other than that this is such a beautiful and magical place to visit! We had the early tickets and spent the whole day! Would need to visit again to get a better feel of the entire place.
If you are a history lover, it’s a must visit place for you. Book tickets in advance. We took Paris Pass in which this place was included.

You will be amazed by the vastness of this place. It will take around 5 hours if you want to rigorously explore this place. Use the public transport like bus to arrive here from any place 😀🇫🇷

Palace of Versailles was the home of many powerful and famous French royalty. It was also the place where Napoleon Bonaparte lived as Emperor. The palace is an embodiment of grandeur, beauty and aesthetics. The gardens are phenomenal and vast.
If you are looking for anything about various treaties then you are in for a big disappointment, no mention of any treaties viz world wars etc.
Beautiful castle and garden. Interior is not so fascinating as exterior. But for 3 euro it is ok to get in. Tickets have entry time. They control how many people is in (and it is good), but you may need to wait a bit. We walked through the garden and it is amazing.

You need a separate ticket for exposition. The woman on the pay desk has not told me. I just asked for 2 adult tickets. When i was told this at the exposition entrance, i was lazy to go back to buy tickets again.

Not wheelchair friendly. You may be able to walk through the garden, but no way to get into the castle.
Quirky place once owned by the chap that wrote a book about hating the french. lots of William morris in the house with some interesting artifacts and it’s a nice place to have a picnic. The lake walk is lovely. Car park is free as is the grounds. A ticket to the house was only 3 euro but worth booking ahead and the coffee in the salon de tea was nice.

Un témoignage des imposantes forteresses bourguignonnes et des guerres dans les royaumes de France.
A beautiful castle with amazing views of the Dordogne valley. We had a really helpful and informative tour in English - thank you for catering for English speaking tourists.

The wall walks and the keep can get very busy later on in the day, so try and arrive early. One of the highlights was the quality of the exhibitions and models which illustrated the stages of the castle and seigecraft. Highly recommended, even just for the views!

I was brought up near the chateau when it was standing at a ruin. It is so nice to see it restored in such a lovely fashion. I also love what they've done with the walkway through the swamp around the lake.

The palace is immense and beautiful.
I strongly recommend having the audio tour because there is so much history and details in every room of the palace.

My recommendation is to arrive early because the queue is long and you need a lot of time to visit all the places: the palace(2 hours) and the gardens (3 hours). Bring sunscreen and food.

In the back section of the garden there is a section in which you could have a picnic. If you have food and water, you will enjoy lunch in a lovely spot.
Best chateau in the region. Fully furnished, numerous original artifacts on display, excellent self guided tour in English or French. And not mobbed with tourists. Better than Beynac or Biron.
Long queue to pay for parking, a steep climb to enter the chateau. Few restaurants in the village.
Nice castle, interesting focus on armoury, great views of the area.
Sehr schöne Burg. Wir waren bei herrlichem Sonnenschein da. War schon etwas warm, aber sehr interessant. Und nicht endlos groß und gut zu besichtigen.
Good displays in all rooms, unfortunately widely in french only.

This is another beautiful castle in the countryside near Sarlat. It's private so no visiting up close. There were great views from across a valley near Carsac-Aillac.

Impressive to consider that they had a wall covered with mirrors back in the 17th century. It stands 73 metres long, one of the longest rooms in the palace and pays tribute to the political and artistic success that France had during that century.

Along side the walls are 357 mirrors. It is said that they attempted to outbest the Venetians with this feat.

Lots of great pictures to take here, but it can get crowded. It was fine in January, yet I can only imagine how crammed it gets during the tourist season.

Fun castle to visit. We were here in October with two teenage kids. We would’ve liked an audio tour but the written descriptions were also very informative. We like how each room is decorated with lots of details in each in its own style.
Hall of Mirrors is the most elegant & glamorous room in the Palace of Versailles. The sight this hall creates when sunlight peeps through windows & lighten up the hall with intricate pieces of arts & mirrors is just magical. The ceilings are also covered with intricate arts.
A stunning castle, from the outside.
This has to be one of the most beautiful castles I've ever seen. However, it's not open to the public.
It's certainly worth a deviation to see, but it's not a destination.

The Hall of Mirrors is the jewel in the crown of the Palace of Versailles.

It was meant to make a strong statement about the god-given power of the
King, Louis XIV, who was responsible for the building of the Palace.

The Hall of Mirrors is also famous for being the site where several
important historical events have taken place,
one of them being the Proclamation of the German Empire in 1871, after the

German states had defeated France in the Franco-Prussian War, and another the signing of the Treaty of

Versailles at the end of World War I, in 1919

Hall of Mirrors is the most famous and beautiful room of Versailles palace.
It runs along the palace main wing on the first floor overlooking the gardens.
It is lavishly decorated in mirrors (as the name says), gilded statues and marvelous chandeliers. Beside its beauty the room is known as the place where the peace treaty was signed ending the WWI.
We've been lucky being there on a cloudy Jan day just before the closing time with very few people, having it almost to ourselves (see the pics)

Stunning little Chateaux, really well kept with beautiful gardens and extremely reason price. Good for a couple of hours, more if you eat and walk around the lake.
Impressive exterior of smaller castle surrounded by tiny 18c(?) Village and overlooking the river. Castle not open to public but still worth a detour

The Hall of Mirrors of the Palace of Versailles is the highlight of every visit. The area in the center of the castle, originally laid out as a terrace, was closed around 300 years ago and has over 350 individual mirrors. These imitate the old exterior facade with 17 large windows. At the time, it symbolized the king's wealth and the progress of the French people. This place is considered to be the most historic place in Europe.
Wonderful, small village. Worth a visit if passing through, but the castle is private and can't be viewed/visited. The village is basically just two small streets, so I wouldn't go out of my way to stop by. But if in the area, a great, quick stop.

Un grand merci à Robert pour cette belle visite. Robert est un passionné, adhérent de l'association Mons Fortis, qui restaure le château fort depuis 25 ans. Grâce à lui, nous avons fait un magnifique saut dans le temps..

I went by foot to this place starting from Hardelot-plage in July 2021. The castle is very nice located and it is very well maintained. When I was there, it was closed, but you could enter the courtyard and climb up some stairs at the walls. Perfect to take some nice pictures! The yard outside of the castle is amazing too, very nicely landscaped and well done… you can walk around here and take some extra nice pictures!
Definitely worthy to pay a visit to this Castle when you are in the surroundings!
Moi vécue à brias
Respect! Only vaccinated people could visit the castle!
The Hall of Mirrors is the nec plus ultra of the French architecture and art design, it's the most famous room of the Versailles palace and the Hall inspired many kings in all Europa to build there own palaces!
Quel beau site... et quelles chouettes personnes pour le rennover
Merci a eux
Des bénévoles passionnés et un immense château fort à reconstruire.
A hidden gem of a castle which is one of the less obvious ones around the Dordogne area. Genuinely interesting and well preserved collections of Fenelon's possessions and a "cabinet of curiosities". The castle itself has interesting traditional defenses and brilliant views of the valley below. Price is reasonable and the visit's duration is long enough.

An extremely impressive, long hall of paintings and sculpture of French victories and events (biased toward the king, of course)!

I was transported back into time. I felt the glass doors open up and a cool breeze flow in. I saw the flickering flames in the chandeliers reflecting on the mirror doors. Beautiful ballgowns fluttering by. Sumptuous feasts and champagne on tap. Musicians melodies folding my ears and the glamour of the Hall of Mirrors blinding. All the tourists dissapeared and I was Marie-Antionette...♡♡♡

An interesting castle with rooms set out with historical items relevant to social and state history. Digital audio guide available to explain every room and many items in each room you carry around with you. Lots of great walks to do outside too. Can take several hours to do it all or maybe quicker if you prefer. Worth a visit.
La ville se parcourt sur une boucle de Meuse de 3 km. Une tyrolienne de 1000m!

Quite small but the entrance is cheap so it was a nice little break. They have an Elizabethan theatre that is pretty active, unfortunately we did not get a chance to see a show. The gardens are small but nice. Just don't go there thinking you are going to visit a big estate and you will have the right type of expectations.
Un merveilleux château romantique
Visité pour les journée du patrimoine, y'a du bon et du moins bon, surtout coté accueil, malgré une journée très pluvieuse la personne qui nous a expliquer l'histoire, etc était très intéressante.
From the moment you climb upto this chateau that looks out over the Dordogne the place is picture perfect. From the swept staircase to the interior rooms there is lots of interesting objects and items to keep your attention. There is a nice restaurant tucked away at the back of the place if you fancy a light meal after your visit.
Beautiful little village and not far from a canoeing spot
