Spent a fantastic week here in the middle of the coldest week of the year. Not that we needed to worry as the underfloor heating kept the cabin nice and toasty warm. The staff were incredibly friendly and the food on offer very nice.

Our only slight criticism was that when booking the cabin, we opted for the one that seemed to be out of the way. However what the map of the site doesn't tell you is that there is a trail path around the side of the cabins that means if you're using the hot tub will be constantly passed by people out for a stroll.
Had an amazing 3 night stay at Forest Holidays in Thorpe Forest. Our main reason for staying is that we have a lovely little Affenpinscher who is terrified of fireworks and so every November we try and get out of London. We were assured by the lovely staff here that there would not be any fireworks - at least not in the immediate vicinity - and they were right! We were delighted as we arrived done the long track through the wonderful forest and saw so many other dog owners staying there! Our cabin in the woods was spacious and clean and the hot tub on the decking was ready for use and checked by staff throughout our stay. The walks in the surrounding area were beautiful and calm and the forest area is beautifully maintained. We had a curry meal delivered to us on Saturday night which was fabulous. Loved our stay. Great staff. Great accommodation.
Our first visit as a family to WMSP and by and large; we really enjoyed our time (all day!) in the park. Whilst the tickets were expensive, they do include a return within six months, so it's quite reasonable (provided you use it again!)

The safari section of the park was extensive and had a wide variety of wildlife to view up close (including numerous carnivorous cats and dogs!) The only bugbear we had, was that there wasn't enough monitoring of careless visitors blocking the road for long periods and not abiding by the two-lane system which was clearly signposted.
The safari took us several hours to get around, which seemed ideal, but bear it in mind before you go in!

The theme park side of the park was quite big and had some surprisingly good rides! Queues weren't an issue, but some rides didn't seem to last very long and it seemed like you waited longer for the rides to start than the time you spent on them!

Food offerings were fairly expensive, but that isn't to be unexpected in a place like this. What they really lacked is a place to fill up a bottle of water.

We will definitely be back!
First time visiting a Forest Holidays park and I was blown away by the thoughtfulness of the folks that plan and organise these locations. So much attention to detail was fantastic to see and made the trip very pleasurable.

Thorpe Forest was a short drive from the A14 and very easy to find and get to. It is fairly isolated in the beautiful forest however a 5ish minute drive from Thetford which is handy for supplies, essentials and eating out.

The holiday park itself is stunning and well kept. There's good signage to get you around and maps are available should you get lost. Each cabin is numbered as well so you know for sure you've found the right one. The cabins themselves are fantastically organised in a way where you barely overlook other guests if at all. Also the views both from your cabin and around the park generally are fantastic, even in the middle of rainy November.

The accommodation itself is very clean and of high quality and spec. Firstly the living area has a nice large television with a nicely thought out HDMI and power socket to use your own entertainment device or games console, nicely done. Everything is open plan and spacious making for a very comfy experience. As some others have noted - the sofas are indeed very low, I must confess this would be one tiny detail I would've charged being a very tall guy. They are low, but they are very comfy when you make it down there!

The kitchen was very clean and very well equipped, again someone took the time and effort to think out the equipment properly. Everything was where we expected it to be and well laid out. Nice to see a few essentials included - thank you 🙏. Kitchen included all the mod cons such as dishwasher and microwave plus a range of utensils you'd expect to find in most homes.

Outside there was a large spacious deck with your very own hot tub which was serviced daily and bbq / outdoor dining. The screen door leading into the kitchen was a life saver and again great attention to detail keeping the wildlife out (and who can blame them wanting to come in the accommodations were fantastic!).

Bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean, high quality and finished to a high standard. Really nice lighting also. The cabins had excellent central heating and hot water. Cannot fault anything. 10/10.

Lastly there's no or very little mobile reception here. However this is fantastic for escaping the boss, for the workaholics and those that just cannot live without internet rest assured the Wi-Fi is flawless here. Not one drop out, everything just worked fine once you're logged in, smartphones will benefit from WiFi calling so you can call home.

Other than that the park had lots of activities to enjoy, fantastic walks, a handy lil shop and cafe and the staff were very polite and friendly.

I had a fantastic 5 day break with friends and was blown away by this holiday, so much so I've bookmarked the website and planning on making this at least a once a year treat myself!

Do come here and enjoy a decent holiday!
Had a really lovely 5 day break here over October half term. Lodge was very nice and clean. The holiday itself was exactly what we needed. Quiet, friendly staff, and some activities to do with the kids like pottery painting and a Peter Rabbit hunt. We brought our own bikes which saved us some money, and we cooked dinner at home each evening. We saw some Tesco vans doing deliveries while we were there, so might do that next time! Overall can’t fault it and we plan to go back same week next year!

A very enjoyable journey, buying tickets online with a free return ticket is truly great value.
During the first visit, I was unaware that besides the drive-through, there was another area for sightseeing.
But this time, with the prior knowledge, I can fully enjoy it. It's a place where you can get up close to wild animals, with amusement facilities and rides. You can truly have a full day of fun.
My favorite part is the sea lion show. Sea lions are very intelligent and adorable, and the atmosphere of the show is fantastic. Both adults and children really enjoy it.
I highly recommend this place, just remember to purchase tickets and make reservations online in advance to enter.
Worse than a motorway traffic jam!
I’m writing this as we are sitting in a car in a line of traffic and I clearly have too much time on my hands to do this. Do not visit here unless you want to be stuck in traffic with young children. Both my kids have got so fed up of looking at green grass and the lack of animals unless it’s a deer of some sort! This was a birthday treat for my 2 year old and we’ve wasted his day completely. The staff are rude we finally seen a lion in the distance after waiting an hour and as I stopped to show my son the staff in the jeep shouted at me to keep moving!! This place is a money pit they have no consideration for paying customers and they are all about the money. We booked a paw patrol meet and greet but because we got stuck in the chaos we missed that too!! Absolutely ruined my sons birthday and left him bored and my elder soon upset that he didn’t see many animals. Close this place down and put the very few animals they have in a nicer place where they will be looked after. We’ve been coming here for many years and I can honestly say this will be the last time I will spend my hard earned money in a dump like this. Staff need to get some training. Thanks for completely spoiling out valuable time
Lovely stay in a serene setting in a dog friendly cabin. Only comment I would make is there are no cleaning supplies for surfaces and no secure outdoor space with grass for dogs to toilet only secure decking area which is not appropriate for dogs toileting.
This place would be amazing if only they managed the inflow of customers/cars.
No word of a lie it was like queues on the M6. Took us over 2hrs to complete the safari which I imagine with traffic management could do half that.
Feeding the animals is a bonus and there's plenty of them but only within limited areas.
The walking area was okay, more dinosaur themed than a zoo but you can get to feed tropical birds.
The theme park element again is okay however, a third of the ride were on.
My Wife and I spent 6 Fantastic days Fishing at Lakeside both from the decking of our Lodge and from the bank.
The owners of the lake are very down to earth and could not be more friendly with help and advice.
For my wife who is a fan of the Grand Designs program, staying in a lodge at the Lincolnshire Round house was a reel treat.
For me, good size Carp and the odd Monster to chase was both thrilling and knackering as 60 plus landed in the week 😵‍💫
Great Value for money, Great fishing and a Great Experience I will be returning to chase the ones that got away🎣
Both of us Loved Thorpe forest .
Accommodation spacious , with the added hot tub log burner and barbecue. Loved location in forest , the staff were fantastic, to name a few who's names i got Natalie at the retreat reception and Matt the hot tub man amongst other maintenance. We will be back .
This place is by far my favourite. So peaceful and quiet. The lodges are spot on and have everything you need, I could honestly live there. The fishing is awesome. The lake has a good head of carp, I've been twice and broken my personal best both times. They also have a couple of sturgeon and cat fish. The owners house is beautiful and the owners themselves are really lovely, welcoming, friendly and always happy to answer any questions. This has become a place I will visit multiple times a year.
Our first time staying at Forest holidays was amazing 😍
The cabins were lovely.
Staff friendly.
So nice to have a dog friendly place to stay too with lots of walking routes, cycling routes, activities on site and within close distance.
Always a good family day out and worth the money, especially with a free return visit (there are terms but still great value). If on a budget, take your own picnic, there is plenty of parking on site. Best get reasonably early and take tour first. This gives you time for food and other attractions later. Dinosaur trek was great, and kids love it (some exhibits need small TLC, but they are still marvelous). Sea Lion show well worth visiting. All around, there is lots to see and do enjoying a full day out at good value. Go to the website and look at the park map (menu , plan, park map) you can then plan your day to get the best out of your visit. We didn't really use rides, but they are great for young children and those young at heart.
I have visited many times over the years and still enjoy it each time.
I visited here in 2022 with my adult Son, we loved it so much we brought my Husband and other Son with us this year. The Lodge (Kingfisher) is lovely, has a rustic feel, fairly well equipped, spacious and with beautiful views across the Lake, the log burner in the evening was just lovely.
The fishing was excellent, My Husband caught multiple large carp with limited experience carp fishing, and we had a lot of smaller fish too! We loved the visits from the Ducks and Rosie the Cat and we couldn't have wished for a more relaxing time. The place is quiet and friendly and we can't wait to rebook a different lodge for next year....we hope to slowly try them all! Thanks a million.
Lovely place that’s nice and quiet and a great place to just recharge from a busy life. Cabin was nicely set out with plenty of room and the kids really enjoyed the hot tub. Great for dogs and if I had to say anything wrong, I wish the stay was for longer but would definitely go back and would recommend to anyone.
Oh my word, we have just returned from this absolutely beautiful place & what can I say. The Kingfisher lodge we stayed in was amazing, everything catered for, comfortable beds & huge flat screen TVs in all 3 rooms. It was so so quiet & the fishing was out of this world. My husband & son caught over 400lb of fish (42 carp in total), mostly all from off the veranda of the lodge. The lake is so very well stocked, it was non stop fishing. Amy & Paul were just so lovely & asked us everytime we saw them if we needed anything etc. We went for a week but soooo wished we'd booked for longer. We will definitely be booking to go again. Thank you so much Amy & Paul
We had great day here with our 2 years old toddler, it was certainly the best day of our kiddo’s life as he explored many animals here first time. They offered everything here including rides, restaurants, cafes and shops. They have separate areas for penguins, aquarium, birds, reptiles and bugs which you can walk through. Anyway highly recommended place for family. They also got Safari lodges if you want to spend your days here with view of walking rhinos and elephants in front of your bedroom. ❤️
This is an excellent place to spend an entire day, or even several! Housing a drive through safari, with plenty of animals to see up close, a walk through zoo with many interesting exhibits and shows and a theme park, set among beautiful, tranquil scenery with plenty to entertain all ages.
There is plenty of dining opportunities and even some charming, safari themed holiday lodges. If you like nature, I highly recommend this place.
The only criticisms are that the safari, as enjoyable as it is, can get very busy and you may need to wait behind gates for some time. Patience is very much advised if looking to visit on busy days.
Also, I do feel the opening hours should be extended in the summer, as a visit in the evening would be a very enjoyable experience.
Otherwise, I would consider this among the best zoos in the UK. Definitely a place worth visiting.
We had a good day out with our grandson, aged 4. We ate at the Dino Diner, and the quality of food for a child was extremely good.
The walk around zoo was enjoyable, and we saw the Sea Lion show as well as all of the other exhibits. The drive through Safari Park had all of the bigger animals that were all on show with some great interactions with the safe ones...
The main downside of the day was a lack of signage upon arrival and lack of staff to ask for help from.
Other than that, we all had a great day, and I would recommend a visit.
What a fantastic place , Peace and quiet, brilliant fishing. Plenty of Carp caught High singles to low doubles, although its obvious larger fish are in there, Tench, Roach and perch also caught, However the Bream, Sturgeon and catfish evaded us. Met Paul a few times when he stopped to chat and see how we were doing and offer advice. A very nice man, down to earth with no airs and graces, unfortunately we did not get to meet Amy. The setting is idyllic the Lodge we stayed in (Lavender) rates 5 star Plus. The beds so comfortable and everything was spotless Cannot fault this place in any way, will return for hopefully many more visits.
Half way through a short stay at lakeside fishing lodges we are staying as a couple and brought our son and his girlfriend for a relaxing couple of days! From the minute we arrived at the beautiful entrance we new we would be able to switch off and chill we phoned Amy at the entrance as we forgot to phone 10 mins before arrival as requested she kindly said drive through go straight to your cabin and relax and enjoy if you need anything just call so friendly after a long drive Paul and Amy have a special way of making you totally chill out Paul later gave me some advice on where to fish a had time for a genuine chat which was nice he’s like this with everyone both of them that’s why there’s so many repeat customers you almost feel like family there there if you need them otherwise you immediately can just switch off and relax and that is what we have done we don’t want to go home it’s just beautiful here even if your not fishing it’s so idillic and extremely peaceful what a little piece of paradise people I’ve spoken to also say exactly the same and the repeat guest travel hours to be able to come here the fishing is fantastic I’ve witnessed all types of fish coming out regularly there’s something here for everyone the fish are immaculate and in the short time we’ve been here lots of upper doubles coming from every swim people are happy here that’s how it makes you feel the cabins have everything you need for a short or long stay very clean and the bed linen and towels are absolutely immaculate the thing that makes this place though is the owners there fabulous people and we will be returning soon thanks for a great couple of days we don’t want to go home!
Wonderful place and superb customer service from the hosts Amy and Paul. They are the most genuine down to earth lovely people. Would not hesitate to visit again. Thank you both for going above and beyond for our visit, I've had a great weekend fishing with my dad making great memories.
What a brilliant place so peaceful .sunflower lodge is absolutely amazing everything you could need for your stay. site is spotless .the fishing was great plenty of carp out between 4 and 16 lb .great stay can't wait to return will be booking again soon for sure .didnt have the pleasure of meeting the owners .but the nice chap in the lake side van gave us a nice welcome and told us what we needed to know overall 10/10 for me .

Staying in a lodge within Roaring distance of the magnificent lions.
Arrived early after lunch to check in and explore half this wonderful zoo.
Reminiscing of how it's changed over the many years .

Had an excellent stay at ZSL in Flamingo Lodge. The tours while the park was closed to the public were great and the guides, Josh, Bri, Charlotte and Lucy were brilliant. The food was good and the lodge was really clean and comfortable. Definitely worth the money.

I was very lucky to be invited by a friend to celebrate her 60th birthday at this fantastic London venue. Our stay was on 5th September 2019. We spent two whole days at the zoo and got up close to lots of lovely animals. When we arrived at the Lodges, we were greeted with a very warm welcome from the the keepers/hosts who outlined very clearly the health & safety aspect as well as the itinerary. Our Lodge was amazing ... beautifully clean and pristine with lovely decoration and linens, tea making and en suite facilities etc. Also a delightful verandah. We were offered a glass of prosecco at the start of the first evening walk. The keepers were so knowledgable, enthusiastic and such fun and truly dedicated to conservation. A delicious two course dinner awaited us after the first walk. Food was of a very high standard. We then did a night walk which was very excitig and were given the opportunity to prepare food and feed some of the animals. Then it was time to hit the pillow and we had an excellent night's sleep. It was amazing to think that we were sleeping only metres from Bhanu (the male lion ) and his ladies! After a delicious hearty breakfast, it was time to feed the very entertaining penguins who were awesome and continue on our morning walk and talk. This has been such a wonderful and outstanding experience that I will never forget. The keepers/hosts were first class and relayed how grateful they and ZSL were for our contribution in helping to fund their vital work. In addtion, I would like to thank Abi and the team for the safe delivery of my zoo gift to my friend's bed in our Lodge (soft lion toy.) Furthermore, I would have no hestitation in recommending this fabulous experience and venue. Thank you so much for such a fabulous stay.. Best wishes to you all and the beautiful animals.
24 hours in a zoo.... We had a lovely overnight stay in London Zoo at Gir Lion Lodge. The after hours experiences were fun and interesting and the dinner and breakfast wasn't bad. I would recommend this for any animal lovers out there.

A night at Gir Lion Lodge is a great experience. The accommodation is lovely and more than adequate. The hosts and hostesses are knowledgeable and charming. We enjoyed an excellent 2 course dinner and a hearty breakfast but best of all we had 3 tours of the zoo once it was closed to the public! One at sunset and one by torch light and the 3rd after breakfast. So exciting to be woken by rumbling lions and to be sleeping only a few feet away. I also learnt a lot about conservation - ZSL is doing a grand job!I had such an amazing time I can't wait to go back !
