It has the potential to be the best park in the city if anyone would invest in it.

It has:
In the central part is a big lawn, great for picnics and enjoying the peace and quiet (ducks, peacocks, gees and chickens excluded).
To the west of the lawn there is a dog or children park, i was not sure, but it is fenced so they don't bother those that are allergic to them.
On the other side to the east of the lawn there is a pond with ducks.
Further east from the lawn there are staircases that lead to the closed section unfortunately, with a garden done in french style, with a symmetrical pattern of short hedges outlining the flowers planted there. And by looking at it on google maps it is apparent that on the other side of it there are staircases again leading to another similar area that is also closed off.
To the north of the lawn there are buildings. First up right next to the lawn there is a glass dome that looks like a theater of some sort, although small and half the glass roof is shattered, then behind it there are buildings that look like maybe they were coops for the birds that are now running around. Coming right behind that is a plato with a big circular water feature that isn't working and half around it is a wall with a (closed) gate that leads into a (overgrown) corridor that leads to some sort of i guess important building.
Next to the corridor starts a cactus garden that has been left unchecked for far too long. Even though cactuses are thriving, the paths through it are bit harder to navigate so caution is advised.

Beautiful smallish park. Lots of benches.
Take a s break from walking this beautiful city.

(But please throw away your garbage in the bins! )

Certain days there is a crafts market with truly beautifully made local products, from shoes boots and slippers to soaps, teas... Very varied.
And an organic (bio) produce market with great fare.
Very nice and clean garden in the Principe Real neighbourhood.

Lots of shady areas and greenery to sit and relax. Playgrounds for the kids and a small kiosk also available.
This is my favourite park to chill in Lisbon. Nice kids playground. Local Portuguese gentlemen playing their board games, nice and friendly kiosk for a glass of wine or a beer. Lots of trees.
The park could be beautiful as I believe once was, but today it is very poorly maintained with destroyed paths, overgrown bushes and sad abandoned buildings. It probably wouldn't even be expensive to restore it, so I'm confused how they could let this happen.
Great BBQ spot, large concrete picnic tables, under some lovely shady trees, 15 or so minute walk to beach, but why no restrooms??? Quite unfortunate.
Lovely park across from our hotel, there was children's play area and steep walk up to the top which had views across the river and city.
Nice park for sitting and taking a restful break from the hustle and bustle of central Lisbon. Some lovely plants and trees, a cafe, play area and a bandstand that was currently under renovation when we visited. Lovely views of the Basilica da Estrela.
Just a few steps away from the crowds you can find silence and walk alone along winding paths. I loved it. I recommend an app like Komoot to navigate since there are no signs and Google Maps only covers the main tracks.
a pretty park. safe. lots of shaded seating. water fountains dotted around. pretty plants. playgrounds.

What a beautiful place to enjoy some leisurely time doing nothing at all. The views from the north end are all the way down to the river and across. It's a great park to stroll through or sit down either on a bench, the lawn or a great little rest stop offering drinks and small plates. Don't forget to cross the street at the north end to continue walking through some beautiful gardens and water feature. Just wish that they would trim the hedges to keep their straight lines.
We visited this park after a full day of walking around Lisbon. We were not expecting to walk up hill to see the view point. We were already drained from our exploring walking day. Lol. Maybe this tainted my review. Nice view point, but definitely not my favorite in Lisbon.

A lively ancient park with huge, beautiful trees. Some are rare specimens. The park has comfortable spaces, is very clean, and lively. Families, outdoor yoga and activities, à handcraft market twice a month (on Sunday), playground, and 2 coffee shops where you can sit and enjoy a drink or a snack in the beautiful scenery.
Great place, not so friendly for food, water, drinks. There is only one place to eat and it is inside the palace and for the park you need 3-4 hours and only in 2 places you can buy water. So come prepared because it is worth it.

Nice garden and some exotic plants. Ideal place to rest, read a book or even eat calmly a sandwich and relax. There is also a café around the corner ( I didn’t check the prices but I would imagine them normal for the area - it seems to be used essentially by locals, which is nice ).
Basilica da Estrela an example of the Portuguese neoclassical and baroque style it’s just in front/near by the main entrance ( I truly recommend a visit to this beautiful church - even if I think it’s impossible to miss it 😁).

We were there for World Youth Day 2023. Crowds were immense but the grounds of the park were beautiful and the surrounding area very clean. Looks like a wonderful park.
The only minus is a lot of people here. But the garden is big and beautiful with old trees and all coloured flowers. The smell is magical here
Great park (very hilly so beware if you intend to run) - very nice space with tons of greenery, really feels like outside of the city.

At this site, the WYD 2023 inaugural mass was conducted in the esteemed presence of Pope Francis, drawing a gathering of approximately 300,000 youth. Being part of this extraordinary moment in Portugal's history was an exceptional privilege.
Beautiful park with tropical plants and a labyrinthine network of paths. Plenty of shade and so many amazing hidden corners to explore. You can walk uphill all the way to the Peña Palace or let gravity work for you and start at the top near the palace. Make sure to pre-book tickets and a time slot early if you want to go into the palace. The gardens are usually not too busy it seems but you’ll need a ticket as well.

This a beautiful park that is located off the beaten path. It is quite hilly but there is plenty of shade. The main reason to go is to see all the species of native birds. I saw chickens, geese, pigeons, and peacocks. Just make sure to not step in the animal dung!

A otherwise beautiful park. Unfortunately we got here the week before the popes visit, which meant there were trucks and construction everywhere. Still, can recommend both the park and it's surrounding cafés.

Nice❤️
The Pena Palace is for sure the attraction you want to visit in Sintra but plan to spend some time in the surrounding park. It is really stunning with many beautiful things to see and in general it is so relaxing to walk around this beautiful nature.

We ended up spending approximately 4 hours on the whole site including the visit to the Palace but we also wanted to check all the points of interest that are highlighted on the map within the park.

This was hands down for me the best place I would suggest in Sintra. If you want to skip the Palace or you do not have enough time I would definitely suggest not to skip the park!

As a last note, it is important to take into account the fact that walking around the park can be easy to moderately challenging depending on your level of fitness because there are a lot of ups and downs.
This park with his own micro climate is beautiful! It is an amazing and scenic road to get to the palace. In summer it is very refreshing walling through the trees. The air is very clean and fresh. There is a point where you can get a perfect view of the castle, very nice. Totally recommended if you like nature.
Place: 4/5
Experience: 5/5
How long did it take me to see everything: 2 hours for the Gardens, 30 min for the exterior of the Palace

The place has a unique microclimate so it's not as hot as the rest of the city which makes long walks a pleasure. A few of the attractions located in the park are the Seven Lakes with duck houses, the High Cross, the Temple, Greeenhouses, and of course the Pena Palace itself.

Long queue and the way the traffic was organized to get to the Palace made the experience less attractive. If I were to do it again, I'd be happy to just see the Palace from the distance and focus on the Gardens.
The Palace is interesting…yes. But, the park is stunningly beautiful. We’re from New York City, so we know a little something about tourist crowds (and how to find our own little peace through the chaos). I think that’s why we loved the walkways all throughout the park — from the top (the cross), to the bottom (the lakes), we spent hours saying to each other “let’s take this path and see where it leads us.” A wonderful way to spend the day.
Really enjoyed this park. A myriad of paths and hidden gems in beautiful scenery
This was the biggest disappointment on this day. Which association has a man with the word "garden" ? 90% think about flowers. Surprise: try to find some flowers. Only trees and fern. No care or not enough. Make some coffee shops and snacks before entering the castle and people say "thank you"

Yesterday Sunday I was in Parque Eduardo VII, its so relaxing, nice n quite place to enjoy. There’s a book fair w/food stalls and music on the day.
This is a must see. You get amazing photos and views from the observation deck. It's a really nice walk on a steady incline so wear good walking shoes.
Convenient street workout equipment

Absolutely got surprised by this little park in a quite busy city district. I was expecting an average garden park in the middle of a concrete jungle, but when I entered I got a real different feeling. Being used to Lisbon's buzziness, I am often missing the nature. This park has a very wild feeling to it. Even though it still offers the clean open grass area to lie down and enjoy a picnic with friends and family, you feel like in the middle of untouched nature just a few steps away from the central grass area. The cactus garden offers exactly what you expect and more. There are wild plants and of course 🌵🌵 but there are also free running chicken and even peacocks with beautiful feathers. Feels very untouched, and has even a great view to the bridge. The constant airplane crossing still remind you that you are almost in central Lisbon. Definitely worth a visit if you like wild nature and peace just around the corner.
Local tranquilo.
Boas condições para exercício físico.

A beautiful park which could also go as a botanical garden. Loved the welcome by a beautiful peacock, followed by plenty of different birds. The show was given by a very sociable pack of geese. Loved it

A calm place to find a bench to read in the shade, or walk your dog, or a coffee at the cafe
Small park in a busy part of Lisbon. Has a small organic farming market on a Saturday and playground for children. There are wooden tables and chairs and seems nice enough
Very calm space - the perfect get away from the busy touristy areas. Some visitors are sunbathing on the grass. The cactus garden impressed me with the size of the cactuses - some of them were twice my height. There are many happy birds but mostly roosters, crowing non-stop. It’s probably a way to prove their masculinity in front of the chicks… actually I don’t know - it’s not my business :) There are several neglected structures that are still quite beautiful.
Well laid out gardens with fruit and veggie patches. Benches for seating, fountain and large grass area.

There's a hidden gem in the park - a collection of one of the oldest cacti on the planet.
It's a free admission to the park except for the restroom, you'll have to pay for adults.
There's a water fountain in the park, so you can fill your bottle with it.
We visited during Easter holiday, and it was very nice to see that someone was sweet and thoughtful to "hide" some candies in trees and bushes for kids.
The tour was awesome and the park is very nice.
Loved the tour.
Most favorite park in Lisbon. It's a perfect combination of nature, art, walkways, grass, benches, and cafe in a free space that's easy to get around.
Way better than the botanical garden nearby, and it's free!
I loved the old tree the most and the other cluster of trees that make up the garden. A great place to spot and there are enough vendors to get snacks, beer or a cup of coffee.

Once you are here and you are in for a hike, you can walk to Rato or even Estrella. You can catch the tram 28 to Chiado or do a detour to Cais do Sodre. It is not an easy walk, but yeah, some of the random.things you do in Lisbon and get home walking about 8 - 10,000 steps.

Really lovely little garden with a mixture of nice shrubs and flowers accompanied by nature plenty small birds around just now well worth a visit if you are looking for some chill time
Such a beautiful park to explore with so many interesting structures and ponds along the way.

So peaceful to walk through all the different paths, with the occasional glimpse of the Castelo dos Mouros and the Palacio da Pena, sitting high up on the hill top.

It's possible to go by tuk tuk or bus from Sintra town to the Palace or Castle, but much more interesting to walk through the park instead.

So soothing place in Lisbon to sit and relax in lush green surrounding. Its facing iconic landmark church. The setup of garden is beautiful with amount of seating. It's pets friendly place. There is a small pond. I saw multiple people doing yoga and training which also add life to this place
Amazing small. Garden in very beautiful area for pet walk and child play area there are wooden seat to sit down and enjoy. Very old type of trees looks ancient and historic
The gardens surrounding the Pena Palace were planted as the Palace was being built. It houses several exotic species and follows a wild, naturalistic layout, with several follies like lakes, creeks and bridges partially hidden within the dense vegetation, following the romantic taste of the time. It blends naturally with the woods of the hills of Sintra.

The temperature of the gardens is lower than in its surroungs, making it comfortable during hot summer days, but calls for a warmer garment during winter.

The exuberant vegetation is magical and calls for a slow stroll around its sinuous paths.

Such a beautiful garden, in the middle of the mountain. It seems like it’s part of a mystery movie and you can discover something new in every corner. It would be good to have more signs to guide your way, but in the same time all the paths and stairs lead you somewhere.
Very nice place for a picnic. It could and should be more cleaned but it's understandable. It has public grills for barbecue.

Un lugar mágico !
Pure magic - Wonderland!
Start with the castle but allocate a few hours for the gardens, the highlight of our visit.
I would recommend starting from the top then going down and exiting from there. You can follow the path but it's more fun to get lost and stumble on gems.
É um espaço acessível e bom para as crianças. Apesar de salientar que é perto da estrada
Não tem uma churrasqueira. Há quem faça fogueira no chão... Também não tem um simples WC.
Lovely shady areas on sand or lush grass areas for ball games, clean and secured by fence or hedge on road side.
Small, but nice playground
Wunderschön. Sehr gepflegt. Kann ich jedem der Botanik mag nur sehr ans Herz legen.
One of the most stunning parks I have ever seen. If you love nature, make sure you have a few hours to fully enjoy the area. There are also ducks, swans and geese by the lakes and lots of different birds everywhere else in the park. I highly recommend the Queen's fern valley!
Se vieni in Camper:
Fermati per pranzo. Posto molto ben curato, lontano da rumori in cui stare davvero tranquilli. Riparato da siepi con tavoli e cestini.
Posti in ombra. Lo consigliamo anche eventuale notte.
For me this is a perfect way of getting up and down to the palace and fortress. On the way there are many different stops, remains from the walls, and arches. Some dirt-paths are not drawn into the map, but they should almost always lead to somewhere from where you can safely continue the walk.
This park is just equipped with everything you can wish for, a place for relaxing, playground, working water taps and a clean, maintained toilet.
From a caper's perspective this park alone provided all the hygiene you could need for a two day stay in Sintra.

A magical Place for a perfect picnic
Nice places in the zone. No bathrooms.
Just amazing, incredible view!
Best place to make a picnic and go to the Belchior afterwards.
Nice play grounds for children
Nice place to have a picnic with the family.👨‍👩‍👧‍👦👨‍👩‍👧‍👦
Excellent playground for kids, surrounding view amazing
Excellent mini park, on the outside there are machine for exercise, we all loved it, it was very sunny and empty the day we visited.
Lots of kids, very nice for everyone.
This Park is also full of drunk people
By the side of the road, next to a few delapidated buildings... I've seen worst, but nothing to write home about. Meh.
Great big shoarma-like sandwich. Delicious. And nice service too!
Great place to have a picnic or birthday. Please do not litter.

There are traditional BBQ's in place in case you wish to use it ( bring coal/wood and tools ).
Simple place but nice, with tables and self service barbecues.

Absolutely beautiful. Highly recommend going with a tour--we did an air bnb jeep "safari" and it was amazing!
A real menace for young children. Urgent care needed regarding both the equipment and mainly the space itself. Extremely inappropriate hard pavement, wrong materials, rotten ropes in the toys and often unhygienic.
Should be separated or at least encouraged that the teenagers and adults didn’t use it for leisure, in order to keep it clean and better kept.
As for now, is full of litter, a real hazard for the kids.
Some pigeon control is also needed in the area. Elder people keep wrongly feeding them and there’re days when it’s covered with their waste.
Great park, high potential if invested in and conserved.
Unkept and not particularly clean. The rough surface of the pavement is not great for small kids.
Schöner Ort zum Spielen
For child very good

Very nice place to go biking, hiking, walk or run.
Beautiful place to spend a afternoon with your family or friends.
Although this park doesn't have é nights benches or tables and it is very short indeed.
You can have some beautiful landscape views from here and it is a very nice place to chill.
If you're are into photography you can also get some nice photos here.
Although there isn't anything else besides the short walk and the nice views.
It can get very busy even in the winter and people tend to leave a lot of trash behind.
Nice place to walk on the sunny day
Could be better cared. Has a little playground for the kids a little ring for skating or playing football. The exercise equipment is useless a total wast of space and tax money only used by people who dont know anything about workingout.
Very nice park
