Absolutely amazing experience! The performance was professional and touching! The theater is historical and beautiful, it felt like I was living in a 20 century and everyone was beautiful and elegant!

Had the opportunity to enjoy a performance at the Mariinsky Theatre. Stunning and impressive, a worthwhile experience. The building is one of the largest theatre and concert venues in the world. The auditorium seats up to 1,830 people at full capacity. The new theatre has seven storeys above ground and three below.
Ballet Bliss in St. Petersburg
The Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg is a treasure trove of artistic brilliance, and witnessing the Russian ballet here was an unforgettable experience. The performance of "Le Corsaire" by Adolphe Adam was a masterpiece, a seamless fusion of skill, grace, and storytelling.

The Mariinsky's regal ambiance and timeless architecture create an atmosphere of grandeur that befits the caliber of the performances it hosts. The attention to detail in every aspect of the production, from costumes to choreography, is a testament to the Mariinsky's dedication to the art form.

The dancers, true masters of their craft, brought Adolphe Adam's vision to life with impeccable precision and emotion. Every movement seemed to tell a story, leaving the audience utterly captivated.

Attending a ballet at the Mariinsky Theatre is a transcendent experience that lingers in the memory long after the final bow. It's a testament to the enduring power of art to transport and inspire, and a must for anyone seeking to be swept away by the magic of the stage.

The Mariinsky Theater is more popular with foreign tourists, but this theater has somewhat more relaxed and lovely appearance that the locals love. Unlike the other big hall, the distance between the stage and the audience is wonderful. In recent years, both the exterior and interior have been renovated and modernized.
The name has been changed several times, and in 2007 the theater settled on its current name -back to the name it had when it opened in 1833-.

Marvellous aristocratic palace in heart of Saint Petersburg.
Absolutely interesting the history of the Yusupov family.
Very well organised tour through the marvellous halls of the palace which host some amazing and unique interiors and ambiences.
Very well organised in terms of accessibility, audioguide and services.
I would have give the 5 stars if they didn't make my pay for the Rasputin exposition part which was actually closed.
Apart from this strongly recommended.

According to other palaces in history, this palace stays naive. To learn about St.Petersburg’s history there is good place to visit.

Nice place to pop in Its free of charge There is a VR room for kids and lotsa other useless fancy shops along side with modern exhibits and paintings on the walls. There is a security guy a demanding QR codes and face masks!
Amazing theatre where you can enjoy one of the world's best orchestras and watch the most talented ballets. We've seen Shurale, the famous Tatar ballet, which we very much appreciated. The historic building itself is also brilliant and definitely worth to visit if you are in St. Petersburg.

Amazing theater full of history. Great sound and interior is wonderful.
Saw here Don Quixote ballet which was superb. A perfect stop for a perfect evening
Unforgettable experience. Must see in Moscow.
The Bolshoi building, which for many years now has been regarded as one of Moscow’s main sights, was opened on 20 October 1856, on Tsar Alexander II’s coronation day.
The Bolshoi Theatre is a symbol of Russia for all time. It was awarded this honor due to the major contribution it made to the history of the Russian performing arts. This history is on-going and today Bolshoi Theatre artists continue to contribute to it many bright pages

A former musical instrument factory occupied by a rabble of artists and now home to a gallery, workshops, restaurants, and a theatre. Entrance to the gallery is free. Most exhibitions are temporary and change often, so it's a place you can keep coming to again and again.
People were not very obedient with Covid-19 recommendations, but still the place is nice as always and the performance of Spartakus was thrilling. I hope they treat the tiger well.
Mein absolutes Liebliengs Theater.
Impressive building and amazing performance. As everywhere else you have to walk through a body scanner at the entrance.
We saw Swan Lake and had even with the cheapest tickets (apparently restricted view) a good time. Easy accessible. Cloak room free of charge. Small champagne bar with snacks. It’s a must- do when in St. Petersburg.

Lovely building and amazing performance. One of the premier locations in the world to see ballet at its best.
Could improve on the small things:
Queues to toilets were massive- not enough toilets for visitors during break.
Drinks and food could only be bought using cash. I don’t know many people carrying cash nowadays.
Chairs in circles rather uncomfortable.

Bolshoi theatre is the most famous Russian theatre. Not the best of course, but the most prominent.
Flamboyant interior decorations in red and gold colours, grandiose chandelier at the historical scene, some rooms looking like a museum expositions: everything is screaming "Luxury!"
The tickets are usually around 7000 rubs up to 15000 (Historical stage), but I got one for a special price of 2000 rubs. It was at the highest - 4th level - but in a 1st raw and in the center, so the stage was visible perfectly. My level was in the 7th floor (there's an elevator) so I took a strong binocular, the usual "theatre" one won't help you much at this distance.
Very convenient system of having it's own dressing room and buffet for each 2 levels avoids the crowd between and after the shows.
The minus: Bolshoi theatre does NOT accept credit cards inside!! You have to pay cash for drinks/food and printed programs! This is very inconvenient! Especially considering the fact that a glass of champagne costs around a price of full bottle - 500 rubs.
When buying a ticket online you have to insert you passport data and one person can't buy more than 2 tickets. Then you have to personally come and retrieve the ticket from ticket office, that located not in a Bolshoi theatre itself, but across the road, at RAMT. You have to show a passport and A CREDIT CARD that you used while buying the ticket! That is silly considering the fact that they do not accept credit cards in the theatre...
Also the cashier lady and guards were speaking rather rude and spoiled the first impression from the most famous Russian theatre.
I watched the opera Queen of Spades and it was average, lead singers were nondescript, decorations were simple as well as costumes.
I was more impressed by the theatre itself then by the performance.
I think you should visit this place to feel the atmosphere and see the magnificence of the building in the 1st place, and only then for the spectacular itself.
New premier version of the opera "The Fairytale about The Tsar Saltan" (Skazka o Tsare Saltane), based on the poem of Alexander Pushkin.
Excellent performance (mix of opera and a bit of circus), beautiful voices, magnificent costumes. The decorations could be better.
Anyway -- you will enjoy!
PS this opera is in the New Building (stage) of the Bolshoi Theatre (not in the historical building!!)
Watched the Swan Lake Ballet here. Loved the experience! It is walking distance from Church of Saviour of the Spilled Blood. You can click pictures before and after the show, but not during the show - which is great as you can enjoy the beauty of the ballet without being disturbed by mobile screens and flashes! Will recommend watching the ballet here!
The place offers variously themed excursions and one can choose the most interesting one. I had a short overview excursion with a brilliant guide first and on a different day visited Rasputin's murder exposition with movies the latter one a visitor can do with its own pace, there is no guide, the movies tell it all. The mansion is really impressive, rooted so deeply in the Russian history, its decoration is stunning.
Historical theatre! Beautiful interiors! Fit for Royalties. However, after the show, it's not quick to exit the building due to lack of exit doors

Best insider tip: find out when the intermissions are before the show starts then go to the bar/cafe and place your champagne& caviar or coffee /pastry orders - prepay and you'll be assigned one of the few tables in the cafe. That way you will be assured a drink during the break and you'll avoid the 15 -20 minute lines

It is one of the palaces that belonged to Yusupov family before the Revolution. The palace is famous due to Rasputin murder in 1916 organized by Felix Yusupov and his fellow conspirators. There is a reconstruction of murder place in the palace's basement. Among the other somewhat non-typical things in the Palace is the home theatre (180 seats) inside. Overall the palace can be considered for a visit. If visiting be prepared to deal with unusual and rather idiotic rules for visiting and ticketing: some types of tickets do not include entrance to the halls of first or second floor or to the basement (Rasputin murder reconstruction); even with a ticket one can visit the palace only at a certain time (together with a guide), except a ticket with audio-guide that apparently has no time constraints attached.
Small, elegant, cozy historical theatre.
Really lovely.
You can have a ticket for any pocket from 100p of the standing spots till first line 5.000p.
Central area.
Free Wardrobe, snow almost every night.

Worth visiting this private aristocracy home that is used as a museum. Lots of amazingly beautiful interior designs from Italian, Greek, France and Russian architects. Enjoy acapela song in private theatre room. But you have to pay for your camera and to enter some private rooms. It is enjoyable but please do not compare this private home with the interior design in the Marseilles castle in France.
A beautiful performing arts hall! If you are into photography this place has several keen photo optical opportunities.

If you are thinking of reserving tickets for a show, pick your seats wisely. Too close to the edges of the stage and you'll have a hard time seeing the performance fully. Picking the top-most balcony will also leave you standing the whole time because the height of the ledges.

If a performance is long enough to warrant refreshments, go to the 7th floor instead of the one on the 2nd floor as its larger and has more options.

Make sure you dress your absolute best. This is a place to see and be seen.

What an amazing theatre. I booked online for The Nutcracker using their website, from the UK. Printed off my ticket. Arrived 45 mins early today and it was plenty of time. You go through the main doors, through security. I had belle etage seats and there is a clockroom, bar and loo on the floor. They unlock the door to your seats circa 10 mins before the performance starts.
I was worried it would be really hot in the theatre, but the temperature was perfect. I was wearing short sleaves.
View from belle etage level was amazing. It's actually quite a small theatre, or rather, it feels lovely and intimate. I was offered opera glasses by the coat check lady but you dont need them.
Wonderful decor. Luxurious.
The only downside is the lack of Metro nearby. I got off at Sadovaya which is a bit of a walk. I think a new line is being built called Teatralnaya, which will be amazing. I will definitely book here again....and how rude of me, the performance was amazing. World class ballet and orchestra

Great theater but there are too many tourists who don’t behave like they should. Also if there are so many tourists they could really have something written on the tickets in English

Nice place for ballet Swan Lake, I headed to the box office in the afternoon and got a ticket for the night by 3,000 rub. Really a traditional and famous theatre for the performance.

Wow wow wow and WOW. Very interesting family history. The story of Rasmussen and his death was front and center. The oppulance is astounding. After seeing this palace, it's no wonder the the Great October Revolution happened. This family was in the top 1%. Ridiculous wealth!! Down with the aristocracy everywhere in the world!
Saw Swan Lake as part of our tour. I'm no judge of ballet, but it seemed very good. The auditorium was beautiful, but getting in and out was a little difficult.

Great place. Only toilets was not enough for all audiences. The set is not comfortable. But the price is good.
A beautiful and well maintained old theatre. We had difficulty in finding tickets online, it looked as if all seats were sold, however we went directly to the box office at the theatre and managed to get fantastic seats 4 rows from the stage. I think that many tickets sold online are through agents who are only given a selection, so don't despair if you can't find anything, even on the theatres website. If you attend the 1pm performance with children, know that many Russian families take snacks of bread and fruit so feel free to do the same, in the passages. The balcony seats to the left and right have very limited views and most people were standing. See photo for example. The performance of Swan Lake was amazing and magical.

This is a 5 stars palace in terms of beauty and magnificent architecture, but unfortunately the main tour doesn't mention the basement and the murder of Rasputin. Also it has currently 5 rooms closed due to restoration. Although the ticket is expensive, I do recommend the visit, the rest of the rooms are magnificent. But don't buy in the souvenir store, the same items are half price in many souvenirs stores in the city.
Beautiful architecture and interior design. Also, watching Swan Lake ballet there was an experience even if I'm not a usual fan of ballet.
