Enjoyed the museum tour by friendly staff, Ling and Fiona. The guided tour is complementary. We even spoke with Mr Tay and saw his work station where he appraises gems & the classroom where he teaches. The top level showcases gems for bespoke jewellery. Make time to spend at least 2 - 3 hours here.
I was very impressed by the assortment of gemstones displayed in the museum. Not only that, I learnt a lot from the host who is my friend, Lisa. She did an excellent job of explaining to me many things related to gemstones. It is worth taking the time to come to see what is in store for you at this gem museum.
Wonderful tour of this 3-storey private museum hosted by Val. Check out on Eventbrite for gem workshop for kids or crystal workshop for adults. Eventually bought my son a geode for $18, he smashed it to pieces with a hammer provided and brought it home.
Wonderful guided tour by Ling getting to learn about gems; the different types of gemstones and other interesting fossils, how gemstones are extracted, how they behave under different light sources and their characteristics in this private museum. Her enthusiasm really makes the tour fun. 😃

A truly eye opening and educational introduction to the world of gemmology by Travis and Angel. I was truly surprise on how knowledgeable they were in introducing all the categorisation of the different gems and giving me all the different interesting facts despite their age. I highly recommend curious minds in visiting this location as it will not disappoint. Thank you for the amazing tour of the entire place and I hope to visit again.
I have thoroughly enjoyed myself here. This museum is a private museum that gives free guided tour. This private museum has so many different kinds of rocks, gems, crystals, etc. displayed by the generous founder (these are his private collections that he displays to share and educate the public generously). Special thanks for the detailed tour and explanation, Ling. I appreciate the kindness, warmth and helpfulness that you and your colleagues have shown to make my trip here really enjoyable. I appreciate it.
It was my first time visiting this museum and I highly recommend checking out this place. Love the convenient location as well. The staff working there were so attentive and took the time to explain and walk us through every exhibit and floor. They had a variety of minerals. I wish their gem museum shop selection was larger, i can definitely spent hours just admiring and shopping for these minerals. Would recommend buying tickets in advance (it's free) so that it is more convenient for both parties. Overall, it was a very interesting and knowledgeable experience. Will definitely be back in the future.

This course to me, I feel is a Hook to me, and treat me like a fool.
I will not recommend my trade people to this Online course.

The visit to Far East Gem Laboratory was a such a fun and informative one. Mr Tay did a comprehensive assessment, ran a battery of tests. Took us on a short tour of the premises, which was very well equipped. He is passionate (written so many articles in many gem publications around the world and sit on so many boards overseas in the UK etc to name a few) and has been in the business for about 40 years. He has conducted classes for Tiffany and Co, given talks to Van Cleef and Arpels etc. His gem lab is the only one in Singapore that is ISO certified. In short, if you are worried about credibility, fret not. Mr Tay is the real deal. I would definitely recommend and would go again if I needed to get a valuation for my gems. Thanks Mr Tay!
I went to Far East Gemological Laboratory because of the lovely Google reviews. Also because if you do a little research you will find out that Mr Tay is incredibly qualified and experienced.

I had a piece of jewelry tested to find out the quality of the stones on it (if real or not) because I purchased it online and had no way of knowing if I really got what I paid for.
Mr Tay ran many tests on it, all in front of me. It was quite an educational experience. You will learn quite a lot about gemology in the short time that you get to spend in his presence.
His testing was very thorough as there were more than a few gems but he took the time to test completely. He will let you know if the gems are natural or not and what treatments may have been done, if any, and with the size and weight he can give the approximate market price.
I think it is good to know if the jeweller you are buying from is giving quality products and also at fair rates, so coming to Far East Gem Lab was very worthwhile. I will come back if and when I make another jewelry purchase to have it tested.

Visited Far East Gem Lab to have a diamond verified. Mr. Tay who attended to us is extremely passionate and knowledgeable. He took time to explain each of the verification steps to us. I went here to have a valuable emerald tested and appraised. I was served by the founder, Mr. Tay Thye Sun — he is someone with decades of experience, who has been published in many gemological journals, and sits on the board of various international gemological associations. Mr. Tay Thye Sun conducted all of the required tests right before my eyes, which in itself is exceptionally rare, as most vendors will take your stone(s) and run tests elsewhere, out of sight. At Far East Gem Lab you are able to look over the shoulder of Tay Thye Sun himself, as he conducts his tests; moreover, he will explain the reason and objective for each test. Going in, I knew some details about my emerald (carat weight, country of origin, and a price range), but did not disclose any of my prior knowledge to him. So my confidence in his abilities was strengthened once he had completed the test and independently corroborated a lot of what I already knew. No tricks! He was done within an hour. Cost $300. Accepts cash or Pay Now. Very professional, pleasant office space, and ISO certified lab – everything you could wish for.
