A Baroque-classicist palace in the heart of Bratislava, where Napoleon signed a peace treaty 'The Peace of Pressburg' in 1805.

Combined a visit here with the town museum (although quite a bit of the palace was closed when we were there). A really interesting place to wander about, see some interesting exhibits. Very reasonable entry charge (if visiting after being in Vienna this will come as a very welcome surprise !!).

The palace is beautiful and the ticket is very cheap. They provide an audio guide which gives details of every room. It takes hardly an hour to cover the entire place. Definitely worth a visit

The Primate Palace (Primaciálny palác) on Primate Square in today's Slovak capital Bratislava was built from 1778 to 1781 as the bishop's residence of Cardinal József Batthyány, the Primate of Hungary, according to the plans of the architect Melchior Hefele. It has a great architectural design and it is one of the landmarks of Bratislava. You should definitely visit it!
Weekday visit and had the place to myself. A small collection of vehicles and transport equipment. Reasonable entry fee. It was winter so beware there is little/no heating - not a problem but wear a coat

A nice little square where the aforementioned palace stands out the most. During the weeks of December, Christmas decorations are installed on the square, natural Christmas trees decorated with handmade ornaments are put up. At the edge of the square there is also a covered pavilion for socializing and enjoying the holiday season.
My favourite spot in Bratislava. Great view point to see the town, the castle and beyond. We paid a small fee to enter.

The Transport Museum is an interesting place to visit if you're in Bratislava. The museum has a great collection of different types of transport. Here you can see vintage cars, bicycles, motorcycles, and trains. The classic cars , specifically, are so beautiful and well preserved. The entry fee for adults is8€, and for students 4€. This museum is only about 20 min walk distance from the old town centre. It's a great museum to visit.
Wonderful place. especially to get acquainted with the country's transport history. We saw many different types of transport and even cars that were not produced. This museum has many interactive things. I think I liked the town in the lobby where the train goes the most. If you will be in Bratislava, definitely stop by for a few hours to admire it.

This is a hidden gem if you like historic transport. The current exhibition about Czechoslovak shipping is really interesting. The day we were there we were lucky to have Stan as our guide. His level of knowledge was excellent and he was really nice into the bargain.
Great museum! Very entertaining, lots of great cars , motocycles even from the 20'
The museum 😍 is fantastic and charming. It has so many amazing exhibits to show. I adore the Slovak Republic. I highly recommend it. Love ❤️ and peace.

The tapestries made in England are Def worth seeing as is the hall of mirrors, the paintings and the reception rooms upstairs. The cost is 3 euros. The courtyards are lovely also and the pink front facade is lovely
I was treated with extreme rudeness and disrespect from the woman at the entrance to the special exhibit. I politely asked how much a ticket would cost, if it was free, and where I could buy one. Apparently these simple questions offended her, and rather than answering me, she sarcastically insulted me and continued with degrading comments. I've never experienced anything like this at a museum anywhere in the world. I was expecting to enjoy a pleasant day visiting museums in Bratislava, and this really soured my impression. Despite buying a ticket later, I only visited the main hall and not the special exhibit, because I didn't want to interact with this angry, troubled person again. I wonder why a museum would employ someone so disrespectful and unwilling to answer questions from visitors.

This is beautiful. You can also great pictures in the courtyard near museum

Great for your inner engineer
Nice and interesting museum we could go up to the Tower it was beautiful. Then, at one point, there is an interaction game puzzle in one room. My daughter sat on the side cupboard with all the pieces, and I understand now that it was not allowed, even though it wasn't written anywhere. One lady with long blond hair came in the room shouting at us, We understood this was not allowed, but the manner was totally out of order. She also reprehend us because we left some pieces of the puzzle on the board (while trying which one would fit) and also got upset shouting because some pieces overlap each other in the board (?) .

We were completely astonished by the manner and the rudeness of this lady, my child had ADHD started to cry as she was completely shocked and petrified.
Could be better maintained.

Part of the town hall musuem. Accessible via bratisla card. Nice views from one of the tallest points of the city.
The building looked nice, with lot of architecture. Enjoyed the view in the evening.

Very nice place for kids l, family and friends. Beautiful old machines and nice presentations.
Interesting museum. If you like vintage cars then this is the place to visit.
Very nice museum, much interesting things to see here. As a bonus, there is also an amazing 360 view from the top. 🧡
The Bratislava Transportation Museum is a fantastic attraction for anyone interested in the history of transportation. The museum showcases a diverse collection of vintage cars, trams, and other vehicles that are beautifully restored and well-preserved. The displays are informative, and visitors can learn about the evolution of transportation in Bratislava and the rest of Slovakia. The museum is well worth a visit, and its exhibits are sure to impress any transportation enthusiast.
The entrance ticket was around 6-7 euro.

Amazing place, it is great home to many historical engines as well as wagons and other railway related machinery. It is great that there's such interest in preserving old steam engines for the next generation. I highly recommend it.

Many cool trains, possible to see inside and look into the history. But there are trains that should be maintained as the condition of them is not good. We saw the construction workers there, so maybe the condition of some trains will be improved soon.

Being a mechanical engineer, I loved this museum 🚂
Reasonable way to spend an hour or two. The museum is fairly small but has a good number of exhibits. The only watch is to be aware the staff here are quite rude.
One of the best museums we have ever visited. It completely blew us away with the amount of vehicles and information on show. Very reasonable admission price, you walk around at your own pace and spend as long as you want looking at everything. Some parts were outdoors but mostly indoors in a beautiful old railway building. Young and Old will enjoy this museum. Fantastic

We visited in February. The actual indoor part of the museum is not open to public until April. There was no entry fee to the outdoor exhibits. There are lots of different types of trains, you can walk on parts of the old tracks and get up close to trains. We enjoyed every bit of the exhibition.
A must visit museum in Bratislava, a lot of real vehicles on display, entry fee is quite cheap for students (I believe it was 3 euro). We came late in the afternoon and did not see all of what it has to offer, keep in mind there are more than 1 warehouse full of exhibits!
Very entertaining museum close to the main train station. Nice array of motorbikes, cars, vans. Very interesting railroad and river marine exhibition. Children can have their photo taken in a Pink Fiat 126

Very beautiful square with cute decorations! Really enjoyed seating there peacefully, but sadly teenagers came there and started to drink the beer and interrupted that atmosphere. Beautiful pink facade and decorations!

The Primate’s Palace is one of the most beautiful classicist buildings in Slovakia. Portraits of Hungarian rulers are exhibited in the picture gallery. An impressive part of the gallery is a collection of six tapestries found in the reconstruction of the palace. The Hall of Mirrors is also representative along with five salons furnished with period furniture and named after the color of the walls – green, brown, blue, red and gold.

On the roof are allegorical statues by J. Kögler and F. Prokop as well as vases by J. A. Messerschmidt. Atop the tympanum is the coat of arms of Cardinal Jozef Batthyányi, the first occupant of the palace; an iron model of his hat, weighing 150kg, crowns the building.

The allegorical statutes along the roofline were intended to represent the cardinal’s human qualities and achievements. The Treat of Bratislava between France and Austria was signed in the palace’s Hall of Mirrors on 26 December, 1805. Today the palace is the office of the mayor of Bratislava, and the superb Hall of Mirrors is now used to host concerts.

The palace also contains a rare collection of English tapestries from the 17th century. They were produced at the royal tapestry works in the English town of Mortlake, but were only rediscovered during a reconstruction in 1903, and are undoubtedly worth a visit. The exquisite fountain of St George, depicting the legendary knight slaying the dragon, stands in the square inner courtyard of the Primate’s Palace. According to one legend the figure of St George represents the archbishop, and his fight with the dragon symbolises the efforts of the Catholic Church to banish the Reformation from the city. Legend has it that St George saved the virgin Dubravka from the dragon, and as a reward gained her hand in marriage. Each year, on St George’s Day, the stone statue is suppose to come to life, turn around on his horse and bow to the inhabitants of the city.

Lots of wasted potential there. There are lots of waterworks mini models, but all the labels are very small and nothing is written in English. If they put English labels, this can easily become very cool place for foreigners...
Free admission.

Be aware that reaching it by bus+foot from Bratislava centre is an adventure by itself: google map will route you through paths which requires crossing railways. So try to find the best and safer route on a map by yourself (hint: reach the railway crossing on Travna Ulica, and then right to Pastierska Ulica)

Beautiful building in the heart of Bratislava old town

Architecture is amazing

Steeped in history - great place to stroll around for free
The garden is really nice for family gatherings outside and on weekends there are organized events for children. There are water fountains, but no place to get a beer or food, so you better bring your own.

Great place to learn a bit about Bratislava. There was so much I didn’t know about it (such as it having a different name in the past!). Besides you can go upstairs and take some awesome pictures- the view is perfect!
The big museum of Bratislava is housed in the old town hall of the city. Mostly it covers local history and the development of the city of the city from I think medieval times to present with lots of exhibits and english descriptions. The museum has a pretty eclectic collection covering religion, Moravian lives, civic life, the library and archives of the city, Slovakian industry and there’s also a museum of torture. One of the best bits of the visit is the climb up the tower where you can get great views of the main square below and Bratislava Castle.

I thought the highlight of the museum was the beautiful courthouse and its Baroque decorated interiors.

Definitely worth a visit.
One of my favorite places in Bratislava, unique outdoor museum of trains and all train related infrastructure, nice and quiet. You can just walk around and fantasize how it must had been in hey days of those huge things.

great place during hot summer days
Its a good small conference and party place.
The primates palace in the centre of the city is a must see for any visitor. It's a beautiful building from the outside and easy to find. Entry is very reasonable and students can get a discount. Lots of interesting rooms and information on its history is readily available. I would recommend not missing out on the view of the chapel from above at the end and the hall of mirrors.

Very interesting place serves as a museum and if rented as an event place. We had a company Christmas party and the interior is absolutely amazing. Some parts of museum was kept in place and in nicely blent into the party.
Very nice park with a playground and attractions for kids. There is a small fountain usually filled with kids in summer, drinking water available, restrooms available in waterworks museum. Community garden can be found here. Great place to spend day with family.

Very nice and interesting museum of waterways system in Bratislava. You can see water pumps, Artesian wells, valves and a lot of technical accessories and informations about water supply in Bratislava.
