Helen Randolph is a terrible public defender. No updates, no calls, no communication. If she can't keep up with things like this I can't imagine how terrible she is in the courtroom. She should be fired!
Absolutely amazing experience! The team delivered outstanding results quickly and efficiently, taking immediate action on my case. If I could rate them lower than a one I certainly would, I can't believe this is how my tax dollars are being spent, you could get teenagers to handle incoming calls and other duties better than those I've had interactions with, this is shameful and unacceptable to the constituents and tax payers of orange county Florida. I was placed on hold numerous times without warrant when you leave messages they go unanswered there is a gross staffing issue that should be rectified immediately along with additional training for all staff members that serve the public as civil servants.
The front desk women on may 3rd, 2024, spoke awfully to me and everyone in front of me. None of us could speak without being interrupted and she wasn't even able to find us in the system, this person shouldn't be working here.

Public Defenders are educated professionals in their field of expertise, when given the opportunity, I have learned, they are willing to look beyond the surface and seek the humanity in which they have dedicated their lives to represent in the legal arena.

I have been to the office look very clean. The staff and employees are professionals.
Get a private attorney if at all possible. But if you don't care about the person needing legal assistance. Then this is the place!
Nobody picks up the phone
Agree about Jessica Sacovitch. Absolutely worthless as a public defender. Keeps quiet in court because "this judge hates me." Who suffers? The person she is supposedly "defending".
Don't apply over phone they had me do that I received no attorney then I called back they lied to me again saying to just wait then I called back a week or so later and they pretended I never contacted them. Told me apply online then call back I do application then called back now they are saying to wait again they are very dishonest do the application in person don't trust anything they say
Unfortunately, I have recently been required to file a restraining order and a divorce petition because of a lying spouse. Emotionally and mentally after 23 years is has been a difficult time for me. The staff could not have been more helpful. They appear efficient and knowledgeable.
Great place, I got my probation terminated early, because I was doing nothing wrong!!!
Whatever you do or try to use this agency make sure you stay away from Helen Randolph. She’ll tell you she’ll call you and never will. She has been the worse attorney for my family, there’s no communication what so ever, she’ll tell you she’ll do something and don’t do it. Just stay away from Helen Randolph. My finance will constantly call her office and she’ll have her assistants get back on the phone giving him the run around a about how she’s not in the office or will go see him and never does or even give him a simple call back to let him know what’s going on with his case. 3 weeks ago she promised us about doing a bond motion and that has yet to be done for him.
With utmost respect and gratitude I write this review for attorney Christina Avalos. She’s genuine, charismatic, knowledgeable, and great at what she’s does. Christina was able to pull me out of unfavorable situation, that 3 other “paid” attorneys couldn’t. This was such a stressful time in my life, thanks to Cristina I can put everything behind me.
I got a warrant I should up judge said I need a public defender. We waited 2 hours for the public defender they where a no show. Thank God the Judge postponed it until tomorrow. PD office said call them tomorrow (to find out who is now on my case) called today and I have no one on my case they said call next week!!! I'm due in court tomorrow. If you can fight your own case do it
Siento que no asen su trabajo ni ayudan a su cliente no digo q todos son malos porq la mayoría veo como pelean por sus clientes y está abogada q le tocó a mi pareja nomás no miro q le este ayudando en la corte no Abla para nada con el juez está abogada es casi la única q miro q no responde por su cliente y menos deja q el se defienda su nombre de ella es Jane. Es la pior abogada q miro q no tiene ganas de ASER nada más q undir a su cliente. Boi a desile a mí pareja q la despida porq la verdad creo q no sirve para defenza. Discúlpenme se q esto no va para todos porq ai buenos y malos yo estoy desepcionada de ella
Tyranny looks to be deeply embedded in the culture. Habeas corpus means you shall have the body, but they never ask anyone for their race!!! If you lack knowledge of who a person, you cannot issue a warrant!!! I am NO ONE & I am above and beyond the law!!! Indigenous Americans are the Law!!! How cuz we are the land.

Justin Cerillo never responds to family members messages and it is upsetting because you never know if he is going To show up to court or not! Super annoying!
The attorneys here do well to help you they have some good attorneys most have over 11years experience and they do a good job
Definately do NOT trust your freedom to this office if Leon Cheeks is your pd. Twice, he said quite plainly he didn't care whether my husband went to prison or went home because either way he was going home to have a beer. He NEVER tried to defend him even though there was zero evidence in the case. He told him he shouldn't take it to trial because he could go to prison for life and intimidated him into a plea deal. They don't want to get innocent people off. They want to trap people into ridiculous plea deals so the state can profit from them. He also got loud and aggressive and stepped up to me like he was going to do something to me when I was asking him questions about going to trial. Do whatever you have to to get a different lawyer.
They come to your door on gated property trespassing without even a phone call of letter first to harass your family and try and get you to change your story when they represent fellons. They are just as crooked as the criminals they protect.
PDS lawyers are among the best criminal defense lawyers in the country. If I or a family member were ever charged with a criminal offense, I would want one of them as the lawyer. I cringe whenever I see a PDS lawyer being fired so that the defendant can spend money on someone else. For that reason, I would never take over representation of a client from PDS.
This agency is good. They sustain clients in legal battles and work with DHS to provide rehabilitation services to men and women within the legal process. They also have a state social worker that is attached out to thier agency to provide discharge planning helping others get thier lives together. I just went through the legal process and it was a battle but my public defender was Able to be by my side with a success within the courts. Most of all I truely believe they care about people that have committed mistakes within the commonwealth. I would advise that anyone involved within the legal system stay honest with their lawyers as they defend you in court. Honestry is key and it makes your legal defense solid.

Excellent, progressive law office run like a private firm. A strong team of investigators, social workers & others support the attorneys. Don't believe commenters who say they were forced into a plea; didn't happen. A plea is always a voluntary deal/bargain made by the defendant in front of a judge. This office strongly encourages trial. Unfortunately girlfriends & moms posting may not understand attorney-client privilege laws. All attorneys at this office have bar cards therefore must communicate directly with clients; not random callers.

Horrible representation. Assigned attorney provided the bare minimum service and support. Behavior and communications were short, curt and lacked any empathy or usable details. Disappointing that what is stated on the website "The Offices of the Orange County Public Defender provide effective, compassionate and high quality representation to the indigent client, and do so in a cost effective manner." was not even close to our experience. In fact, I would say it was the total opposite.
It can get rocky but there are also many other attorneys out there my first attorney was a pd and he made sure my case got dropped I have always had good luck with PD’s but if you don’t want them on your defense go hire a regular attorney that will cost you 3500$ just to defend you. Some of these PD’s are fresh outta college and they have to start out like that. You can’t get mad because they ruined your life when there was other options in your hands.
My boyfriends pd hasn't communicated with him in over a month, court was cancelled last week and he knows "nothing"...I had to call the jail to find out when his next court date is!!!! and she's still isn't reaching out?! I called the PD office the lady told me his pd called him once ....how does that make since when he's in jail.... is she going to reach out again!? Ugh so annoyed oh...and she or her assistant is ever in the office... just spoke with someone else assistant who is going to be emailing her... Wish me luck that they respond to an email...
I had a "misdemeanor" charge. I was assigned to Laurel Roberson, she is a public defender. She got my case dropped. I couldn't be anymore happier than I am. Thank you again!
Be sure to speak very clearly as most of the people who answer the phone here are very, slow. They will transfer you wherever they feel instead of where you need as they lack either the patience or education on how.
On August 1, 2018, I had a misdemeanor case in Manhattan Supreme, Jessica Heyman was the attorney of record. I was extremely pleased with the outcome. I didn't have the resources to hire a private attorney, however despite that limitation, I certainly couldn't have experienced a better result. Moreover, the Honorable Josh Hanshaft presided, and you'd be hard pressed to experience a finer, more pleasant and fair judge. Thanks Ms. Heyman and I promise to pay attention at the anger management course!
I enjoy visiting this entity. The people here are always helpful and ready to serve. I'm blessed to be able to take advantage of resources offered here. Doing GOOD things... 14 Civic center plaza.
Worse place I have ever dealt with. Oh wait for me to have to deal with them that would mean they would return a phone call. Really think the state needs to come in and take a look into this office
I cerently have a case on friday, june 24th. I will be taking this to triel. Berglery to ressedance of my living adress. Witch was a unlisenced rooming house. It's above a hole in the wall bar, were a buch of low life quiet get aways work.
First time here and they told me to be here at 11:30 to make a statement. I am still waiting as they keep telling it's going to be another 30 mins. Very unprofessional. This is coming from a business owner.
